I've used pace cars in my custom races as a "rabbit car" that pulls away from the field and eliminates the rubber banding effect. Allows me to get a cool photo at the start of the race like the one below. And then the car is just fast enough to pull away but not so fast that it laps the field. So it's usually out of sight, out of mind.

Gonna get the tinfoil hat out again, but there are a few things of note about this whole situation:

• June 11th is when this update is being released.
• The very big PlayStation State of Play is on June 2nd.
• The video we saw was called the "Free Update Preview" which is a slightly different naming convention to the normal update trailers.
• The video didn't show the names of the cars next to the cars like normal (see image below), just the cars themselves.
• The website article for the video doesn't have any actual update details like race events or Scapes photos featuring the new cars.

My conclusion is that we haven't yet seen the full June update trailer yet, which likely means there is at least 1 thing of significance that has yet to be revealed. A track perhaps? Will have to see, but the State of Play would be a very convenient time and place to show the full trailer.
Nothing to the scale of Spec III, especially so soon, but still something...

Well, I was thinking since Le Mans is that weekend it a given for events. Then, felt IMOLA or COTA would be nice additions. However, could be anything. Qatar or Bahrain add to the new Middle East section of the map. We’ll see.

I’ve also thought there would be more cars announced. The usual three suspects yet to have silhouettes.

A SOPHY 3.1 or 4.0 that run all cars and circuits in all conditions seems big.

* Vanwall Vandervell 680: Only competed in WEC, not IMSA, and has since been retired though potentially may come back for the Asian Le Mans Series. Brand not already in GT7, and is perhaps too obscure to be considered.

Wow, I had no idea the Vanwall name was back. Seems to be a rebrand of an existing team from what I quickly saw on Wiki.

Taking this at face value after I have seen that video I can see the point of view being presented but I am too pleased to see those cars to really examine the negatives of it all.
I am very happy that those four LMP1 cars will be coming to GT7.

Speak for yourself pal, I don't have the slightest bit of interest in any of these cars. Would unironically get more use out of a Volkswagen T-Roc, at least I can use that in custom shuffle races, build it up to a PP limit, have fun lobbies with my friends. Not like you care for anything I say, you'll just poo this post as you always do.

I don't remember asking for your opinion? Everybody knows you love ****** cars because you have to make sure to tell everybody this all the time. And nobody cares! Well, the issue with the wingless Peugeot Hypercars is that they are now owned by JMB Classic. But may be they'll have given to PD the data they need for this.
The side LED panels look like an easy option to add though.

That said, the Cadillac, if only for its V8 but also the return of the brand in Gran Turismo would be a nice addition..

Speaking of the Toyota TR010, it is a major redesign and a new car in itself, so it needs a separate entry.

Other examples of EVO kits of certain race cars that are major redesigns: Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO and Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.

Should there be a track, which I highly doubt there will be, Sebring would be the most perfect addition.

Remember Daytona, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta, the IMSA version of the Ford GT GTLM, and the Vasser Sullivan Lexus livery?

Sebring was the only missing piece of IMSA's then 4-round Michelin Endurance Cup in GT7, until an extra 5th round at Indianapolis was added in 2024, which this year has been switched with Road America.

On a side note, speaking of Indianapolis, it just so happens to be Indy 500 raceday today!

Unlike Scooter, this update might be to hyper for me. I usually hope for old classic/vintage cars or road cars. But a five car update with that kind of machinery is bound to be really cool.

I think we might get a Power Pack Extension with Gr1 focus, so a free update and a DLC ? Or both free? And the full trailer for State of Play?

The reason why we have Daytona, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta is because of a partnership with IMSA. We did get the tracks, but barely any cars, save for the Ford GT GTE and the Vasser Sullivan livery for the Lexus RC F GT3.

On an unrelated note, I finally got all gold on that dreaded reverse Nurburgring Circuit Experience, so I think I'm ready to get those Hypercars.

Honestly, great update (preview) but not too interested so far. Don't get me wrong, GT7 needed more Hypercars from WEC, but an update with only race cars and a safety car just doesn't do much for me.
I don't dislike it, but I wanted more variety from updates (same for the updates with only road cars...)


I will say, I'm happy that we will finally get a BMW from current decade*


*The most up-to-date BMW is the M2 Competition, from 2018...

Since we've mentioned IMSA, it's interesting to me that the licensing seems to be through ACO rather than IMSA for hypercars, for both the GR010 and the new set. You can see an ACO logo on the Porsche for instance.

IMSA is generally the default path for LMH/LMDh licensing; I believe it's only GT and LMU (since it's the official WEC game) that go through the ACO.

Yeah even though this update heavily caters to my own personal interests, I still believe that regular updates should follow a more balanced approach to car variety for the sake of the wider playerbase.
For a normal 3-car update, my ideal balance is:

• 1x low/medium-end road car (any era)
• 1x medium/high-end road car (any era)
• 1x race/rally car (any era)

That way there's a higher chance for every type of player to have at least 1 car they like. Not a 100% certainty, but higher than normal.

I personally doubt that the update will include any more cars simply because of the GT article.

The “the” make me think that this is all the cars that we will see in this update but we will have to wait and see if we get a new track layout/or new track. And has you mentioned the state of play is very conveniently place…🤔

(Although I still think it is early for a new track)

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ferrari and Porsche did, especially since they'll be released just in time for the hype surrounding Le Mans.
