As far as GT7 related discussion: Anyone else notice a pattern with the Stealth cars from the GT World Series?

Abit early but you gotta admit: This and the fact that the 30th Anniversary is coming up, seems very convenient.

I've heard that theory. If one of the Stealth Model cars for the Singapore live event is a Nissan R92CP, then that would leave just 1 of the GT4 secret black cars that is yet to be in GT7, even in regular form... The Nissan R390 GT1.

That would certainly tick a big nostalgia box for December, similar to the Renault Espace F1 in Spec III.

In other news, it looks like the Tracks Suggestion Forum has finished its update. It also went from 19 to 14 pages as I'm guessing duplicate posts were deleted. Looks great!

That's the problem the traditional console model is facing.

To make back development costs on new AAA games, they have to be backwards compatible with the previous Gen to hit targets, as the cost of new consoles is so high nowadays the install base isn't big enough.

On the other hand, without exclusives, there is little reason to upgrade to new hardware over simply playing the games on what you already have.

SONY is clearly banking on GTA 6 to move units, but that will be a once in a lifetime event rather than something that can be sustained and repeated.



My perspective: future consoles will have to focus on convenience over raw horsepower (see steam deck and co.) Instead of chasing increasingly costly fidelity for diminishing returns, focusing on portability and the ability to play your library from anywhere at any time would give a tangible reason to invest in new hardware that some slightly shinier graphics would not.

But hey, I'm not a business expert, so maybe I'm just talking out my ass..

Coincidentally, Sony just dropped Kojima's Physint due to budget and deadline concerns, in which the timing could not be any worse for the state of PS at the moment.

Yes, we should really be asking ourselves whether the Citroën 2CV will be able to complete a lap of the Nordschleife, given the steep climbs.

Probably if PD adds an engine swap at some point.

There's quite a few tracks from GT6 that left the series when Sport launched, and never had a post made in the Suggestions Forum.
I made ones for Indianapolis, Silverstone & Motegi, but there are others that no one has made a post for yet including Autumn Ring, but also:

• Tokyo R246

• Circuito de Madrid

Basically when the Suggestions Forum was at its most active, these tracks were already in the game, so had no need to have posts made for them.
It's fair game if anyone wants to add them to the Suggestions list now though.

Much to the delight of GT fans everywhere, GT7 is bringing back some of our favorite tracks from days gone by. First it was Trial Mountain, then High Speed Ring, now of course Deep Forest has been confirmed.

The only thing is, every track so far has had some revamps that make them fairly different to their original counterparts.

With that in mind, what could Mid Field look like in GT7? I can't see much that could get changed, it's already a beautiful track and I wouldn't want anything to change!

There's no Apricot Hill Suggestion, and there was a Cape Ring Suggestion but it was made during GT6's life when the track was already in the game, and was too specific: a single variant with time and weather.

I saved the Midfield Suggestion because although it was made during GT6's life before the track came to the game and it subsequently came to pass, it was then undone for Sport. The first post needs some work, with that in mind, but it was started by an active user so that's up to them

I've basically discarded (as in "hidden and/or moved to a vault") Suggestions that are crap, trolls, fictional from sources other than GT (never going to happen, so what's the point?), or made up from real roads other than those which host motorsports events (several were basically leveraging the Course Maker; that doesn't exist now) particularly those in excess of twice the length of the longest course ever featured in GT.

If a thread could be saved, such as where the actual Suggestion was fine but the first post was bereft of information, I've preserved it (by adding the most basic information: the flag emoji and an image showing the track/track layout/Google Earth) under its original owner even if they're a one-post wonder who hasn't been seen since 2014. A very small handful have been reassigned and (some of those) rewritten.

You can see where the bar for "crap" was. If it had at least a semi-accurate name, wasn't nonsense, and had an attempt at an image (even if it was broken 'cos they'd linked it), it stayed with just a title tweak and a new image.

I still have a page of threads that are hidden within the main forum and I need to deal with - resuscitate, reassign, or remove - as well as a couple that are not hidden but need work, but along with duplicates that all did account for about a third of the forum... 😬

On a fun note, the forum sorting doesn't recognise the precise flags and treats them all as the [OBJ] ison. However the Search feature does, which means that you can now "Search; This Forum; Search Titles Only" for a specific flag and get all the tracks Suggested from that nation:

And yes, the crossed flags is PD Original courses. Since the crossed flags are clearly the Japanese flag, it seemed most appropriate.

A fair point I 100% agree with (Like can they at least return as liveries? Its all they are really) but point was with both sets of Stealth cars, one of them featured a Classic Japanese prototype that had a black variant in Gran Turismo 4.

GT is probably a thorn in PlayStations side because it is very unconventional. It doesn't generate a ton of additional funds through MTX, but it keeps players on the Playstation for longer periods of time. The GaaS works for racing games because of the audience that would continue to enjoy the existing content while more is being added, the only downside is that people aren't spending money on the specific game, unless DLC is added. Then there's a balance of too much DLC vs just a good core game.

A profitable console driving 'thorn' that makes PS5 more popular.

Cool. I knew I wasn’t remembering wrong. Here’s why I missed it. Thought I was looking at Sorted by Likes in another opened page while typing my post. The other was “Midfield” search gave me the query thread, but Mid “-“ field didn’t come up in the search for the Suggestions as there’s no hyphen in the Suggested Track title. I looked through the 10 pages of the search and still didn’t see it. All good. 👍

I would hardly call a franchise that as unusual as it is (even from the start), continues to reliably make profits regardless of what everyone else is doing a thorn in the side (Even their "Worst game" Still sold well enough to continue). There's a reason they let PD do their own thing for the most part and with how they have outlasted their contemporaries, I hardly see a reason they wouldn't trust them even if they haven't needed to heavily lean nearly as much on so many current game trends.

Yeah, the original thread didn't have it hyphenated either, and the fact is that was the track's name in GT2 and sometimes the track's name in GT3 (Mid-Field in menus, Midfield in races/replays), so I didn't feel the need to change it.

I mean I guess the GT6 version was always Mid-Field, so if @GTvsForza wants to change it while updating the first post I wouldn't grinch either.

I think spec lv will be the last major update for gt7. The big thing for 30th year anniversary in my opinion could very likely be a reveal of gt8 it makes perfect sense next year, I don’t think it’s releasing next year but we could very well get a look on it. The fact that we even get a spec lv for 4,5 years old game is pretty insane. I don’t think gt8 ex will be ps6 exclusive either even if they release at the same time maybe 2028.

True i sure did not expect much after spec lll.

But with kaz saying spec lv is only start of the celebration for 30th year anniversary that sounds to me like gt8 reveal for next year.

I don’t think they can do anything bigger for gt7 than the spec lv already provides this year.

Gt7 will be 5 years old next year that should be more than enough time to show us a new title. There is not much they can do to gt7 anyway going forward as it’s limited to ps4.

In my opinion I want to see a brand new career mode to,start fresh with the sophy ai and not those chase the rabbit format maybe new customize options etc those are not things not going to be added to gt7, if it was we would have seen it already.

I honestly think that next year, because of the 30th anniversary celebrations (even the fifth anniversary of the game and possibly the tenth of GT Sport), regular updates would still continue, and by the end of next year, a possible Spec V wouldn't be too far-fetched at all.

GT8 could still be further away, as there hasn't been any signs or indications of it, not even from Kaz himself.

It's also worth noting that throughout GT7's history, odd-numbered years have had more content volume in updates than even-numbered years.

Following the addition of the BMW M4 GT3, should it ever happen, there would be five major GT3's (seven if licensing and car modeling were quick enough to keep up with each other):

I may have my nitpicks with some of PD's choices for what cars they pick and when, but at least they are not passing off recycled 20 year old models as "exciting new content"

That's exactly what happened, coming from GT Sport to GT7 (with the exception of five cars such as the duplicate Audi R18 TDI, Mercedes F1 cars, Mercedes VGT LH Edition and the now-impossible Fittipaldi VGT).

I think should GT8 ever happen, almost everything will carry over, except maybe the McLaren MP4/4 as there are rumors that McLaren will not license their historic F1 cars to games that feature F1 cars from other manufacturers, regardless of the era represented, as that was what happened with Automobilista 2.

In that case, if Polyphony really think the McLaren MP4/4 is that significant, and they want to keep it, that means the Honda RA272 or Mercedes W 196 R might not carry over.

Personally, I’m starting to wonder if one of the 6 cars planned for the December Spec IV update could be a RUF.

With RUF and Gran Turismo celebrating 30 years of their relationship, the recent RUF presence in Japan around Luftgekühlt Tokyo, and considering how important the Yellow Bird is to Kazunori Yamauchi and the history of GT, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the CTR Yellow Bird return.

The CTR Anniversary could also be a possibility, especially if PD wants to highlight the modern RUF/GT relationship rather than simply bringing back another classic.

It’s obviously just speculation, but a RUF CTR in the 30th anniversary celebrations would make a lot of sense to me. And personally, seeing the Yellow Bird return to GT7 would be absolutely perfect. 🟡

The GT8 discussion seems moot because it's going to be 90% of GT7. The single player experience will be overhauled and they will need some time to be able to reserve some content for it, so the current dump of content probably puts the game 1-2 years out. Competitively online it works so I don't think they are in a rush to change much, but Sport mode is largely carried over from GT Sport anyway..

A spec 5 is very unlikely. And kaz would not confirm a new gt title before we seen it been revealed that’s the way it’s been in the past, I have no doubt in my mind that it is in works right now, whenever it releases is a different matter.

I think gt8 reveal next year is more likely than another big spec v update. That however doesn’t mean it releases anytime soon,

That’s not stopping the development. We’ve seen SOPHY have updates. If PS4 was effecting development, we wouldn’t see it at all.

Remember, GT7 was PS5 exclusive. PSVR2 saw minor improvements. I mean, that’s why there’s a PSVR2. PS4 isn’t stopping development of that.
