Gonna give an example of grinding in a free to play videogame: in Real Racing 3, the most expensive car (that you can buy with ingame money) is the 4 million credits R18, and there is a race where you get 100 thousand credits every 15 minutes.
Not too different from GT7, except there are even more expensive cars than that in it.

Guess what PD. I have just installed an update in my playtime! I am boycotting this game until you update the credits back to what they were. This is one of the most shady things I have ever seen a developer do. For them to actually research and remove a method of making credits in a grinding game so players can apply more time or buy mtxs makes absolutely no sense at all. I will not be playing this game any more or supporting PD until they get their act together!

Its obvious Sony forces PD to do the same with GT7 as Rockstar/Take2 does with GTA Online.

PD should cut all connections to Sony and become independent.

Same what Rockstar should do. Dont they have enough money to do so ?

Just curious, which website/gaming journalist will you write an email to? it will be interesting to see who will write about this and who wont.
Will probably try and contact customer service at both Poly and Sony directly, it's doubtful but I may as well contribute something to trying to make this better. It's been a bit of a let down for something that's supposed to be a celebration of 25 years if I'm honest. 🤷‍♂️

i am surprised servers are STILL under maintenance, must something bigger than expexted
They've gone to bed. It probably won't be fixed until tomorrow sometime between 6 and 8 AM UK time.

Some of you have lost your damn minds…

Hopefully they addressed the bop tuning exploit. Multiplayer and sport mode need so much work right now. I hope that takes priority over single player.

Track limits are also a joke.

If we make enough of an uproar then the developer will listen! You may think it's an overreaction but think about it. Why would they adjust payments for events that were all used for grinding credits? They said in the patch notes it would be adjusted to players level of difficulty and collector level or playtime. If you are using these events for grinding it would mean you have devoted a lot of time anyways just to get to these events. We have always had grinding events like these in the past why is this all of a sudden an issue?

I had heard people complain that GT7 Arcade mode made it too easy to drive any of the cars in any tracks without earning them...

Now thanks to the always-online feature and the servers being down for hours, we only have the Arcade mode, so I tried it but it only lets me choose from about a dozen cars, is there a trick to get it to allow picking other cars beside these default ones?

I did a search of GTP and google but nothing turned up on how to do it, hoping the complaints weren't an exageration now that it's the only option.

I can't tell whether we're supposed to take this seriously or if this is a copypasta from reddit :ill:

PD have shown in the past that they legit care about fan feedback when they improve the quality of online races, address the issues with the penalty system and add content that people wanted like with GT League in GTS, more requested cars and fan favorite tracks, its like people forget that GTS started without any MTs because PD did not want them at all yet Sony most likely forced them to do it the following year when the St. Croix update happened, with the whole "live service" stuff Sony is trying to push now i think it would be reasonable to think that PD did not want GT7 plagued by this credits/MT dilemma we are dealing with right now but the higher ups at Sony forced them to do it. Does the game have other issues besides the credits thing? Yes. Is PD perfect? No they obviously aren't (Nor is any well known racing game studio either), but you can't pretend as if they don't care about the fan feedback and aren't going to help both expand the game's replay value with more content and also improve the game in general in future updates. You can call me a PD apologist all you want for saying these things but im sure that Kaz nor his team wanted this sort of issue to happen.
PD still didn't allow players to sell prize cars there, didn't remove the 20 million credit limit or address the garage limit, still neglect the Gr. X class issue being largely useless, or addressing the limits provided by N-Class, address the UX issue in the game there, allow to adjust HUD, etc.
But what I said there happened for real. The reduced payout for the races, and not only the currently main best way to grind money (and not as good as the grind in older games still). So them making it worse (there's fixed WTC 800 race, but the change makes this worse overall) did happen.

I know I am being silly now. I just hope that the "issue with GT7 update 1.07", is this time not an issue, just theatrics. Maybe they tried to go the greedy route, but now realized, damn it, we can't do that, everyone is mad now? 🤔 Yes, I can live with being wrong. Helps make the decisions easy, if me being hopeful turns out to be pointless.

Luckily no ps5 bought for me, I have GT7 for ps4. Been worth 50% of its value so far, since I did not expect much beforehand.

Speculation (I like speculating, even if I am wrong): PD/Sony both got knowledge of the money grinding races. So they at first downgraded them. PD has also been following social media and what not, that includes GTP. So in their money greed they decided to reduce the money received from the money grinding races (rallies).

If this is the case, you could speculate that the delay of version 1.07 full release, is in fact a reaction, to the 100% warranted threaths and boycotts, of the playerbase.

It might not even have been planned at first. It could have also been a legit bug. And then while their systems are loading and what not and they try to fix it, PD gets knowledge of people unhappy with the new update. So they decide to delay the update and change it for the better, out of a player perspective.

And please no big slating yet, let me be hopeful. Until 1.07 is released fully 😇 If 1.07 fails, then the game partly fails too for me.. I refuse to believe in failure just yet. But in a few hours or days, I might actually believe that.

I already feel sorry for you who bought PS5 due to GT7. Money wasted for sure looks like it.. 😔

If 1.07 fails, PD suffers too big time. They will have to revert back at some point, if the boycotts spread even further and the bugs/glitches keep appearing.. Otherwise they just keep killing the franchise.

Read many comments. I think I would put the bigger blame on Sony. Still, PD could have just negotiated much more on their own terms and said heck you to greedy Sony 😎😈

Man, I really hope you’re right, but I’m afraid you probably aren’t. This is the first time in my life where I’m actively debating either joining the boycotting or just droping the game alltogether.

Severely dissapointing, these are the ****tiest tactics I’ve seen in quite some time.

If the servers are still down when I get home, I won't be able to get my driving marathon. That means no ticket for the Roulette of Wrongness. That means I'm going to be 1000c down on my day. Damn, I might have to go for a run instead.

Do we have to pay to get the servers back up and running?

...

Reading a few messages further back, I have only now noticed that Racing/Wet Tires cost almost more than the Autobianchi Abarth A112 '85. GG

It’s so dumb that we have to buy tires. Especially for a race car.

Even worse with the crazy high price for tires that you may never use.

I used to disregard suggestions like this before. But the fact that the outcry over the PS3 and Vita store closure announcement actually led to Sony reverting their decision and keeping those stores open had me overthink my stance somewhat. This is on a much smaller scale than that though...

When was the last time the servers were down for this long?

I’m not overly fussed about the amended rewards, but like a few have mentioned on here already, I think they need to give roulette tickets away more readily (maybe add them for completing CE - 2 star for bronze, 3 star for silver and 4 star for gold, then maybe another 6 star when you’ve completed all CE?) and also change the weighting of the prizes so it’s a bit more likely you’ll receive the better ones, that would IMO makes things a lot better!

Resume the majority: "I want all cars, and fast"

To be honest, I did maybe around 50 times the dirt Fishermans race for credits. But, it was too easy to buy 90% cars in game.
I was thinking everytime, they will adjust these rewards, it can't continue. To be able after less 1 mounth to buy these Legendary cars...

We have years to buy cars in this game, I will be bad everytime I will see the Baker Mercedes with the impossible 20million credits, because I want it. And it's cool, challenge makes a game.
Just in perspective, in GT6/GTSport, XJ13 or MarkIV were 20millions credits, in GT7, under 5millions. With these new rewards, we still buy easily all cars we need, but maybe not all cars you want, that's a difference.

Gran Turismo is a solo game series, recently opened to a multiplayer world. This aspect forces players to compare eachothers too.
The trouble is, some loyal players who have played the entire GT series over the last 25 years have waited very patiently and for a very long time to see some of these cars, tracks, features etc. in the GT series, but to then face the prospect of not even being able to access some of that content is very disappointing indeed. You mention the premium content cars in GT Sport... well, much of that will remain forever beyond my reach. I would hate for the same thing to not only be repeated but amplified in GT7.

I accept your general point about the game having years of shelf-life, and yes, I also accept that it is not unreasonable to reserve some of the most sought-after content for those who expend the most effort with the game, but there does need to be a limit... and when dedicated players can end up not accessing some of the most desirable content in the game at all (unless they are willing to pay stupid money - many cars would cost more than the game itself) it is a very poor situation indeed.
I honestly don't think they do care, I think they're only out for the bottom line as a business and are following the current AAA trend of releasing an incomplete game for the first week surge and then milking it for micro-transactions.

Don't be surprised if all future content additions to the game will require players to decide whether they want to go for a long heavy grind or pay for a micro-transaction. GTA Online set this tone and now everyone is following.
I hope you are wrong, but you could well be right. I believe that PD are not willing to throw away their hard-earned reputation quite as cheaply as this though, and I hope that they at least take some of the major criticism that is coming their way over GT7 to heart and do something about it that at least helps to restore the faith of loyal fans to some extent.

I switched to Arcade mode and actually had a really fun race, even though there's only one car available that I wanted to use. I was about to say that will do me for the moment, but now the game has crashed. Seriously?? One game offline and the game's crashed?!

I would not hold my breath about it, but overall I am kinda hoping this partly to be true.

The extended server maintanance seems to be very skeptical and also seem to be too coincidental right where the uproar began.

But then again I will not hold my breath about it.

Just to play Devil's Advocate for a moment; if every third post (not just here, in fairness) wasn't about the best three grinds to get 20m credits by midnight on launch day, would PD & Sony have left that side of things as it was?

Remember these guys report player numbers as evidence for success for this type of game not sales!

If the game didn't demand such a grind, and hadn't run out of content so quickly, people wouldn't have been flocking to the best grinds.

Yeah. If we only talk from a IT perspective. Surely it cannot take this long to repair it. Or it has to be a massive bug/glitch in that case. 🤔 But yeah, we'll find out quite soon I think, what happens.. For sure they want to release a working game, before weekend.

I wonder what they actually think back there in PD HQ. Let's lower the prize money, then people will buy more credits with real money! Yaaayyy! That's a good idea! Let's do it!

What is PD expecting now? That we're all massively going to buy credits??

It's like Russia invading Ukraine, bomb the country, and afterwards expecting everyone to be pro-russian. 🙄

I really hope this blows up in their face!

Not a single eurocent are they getting from me. I already paid 100 euros for their game.

If they are really that desperate to make money:

Give us paid DLC that is worth it. Lot's of new races, cars, new menu books, seasonal events. And fix the online so that we can earn decent credits playing with friends or sweating in Sport Mode.
