You've named seven different cars (most of which have several different generations) and expressed some form of surprise that none of them are in GT7.

That'd be a wishlist. Again (and for the last time), the wishlist thread is where they go.

Crazy how in over 3 yrs PD hasnt been able to balance modern racing cars and the daily / meme cars that the series has had always. See forza motorsport, they got a bunch of the latest racing cars while also having a lot of meme cars. Why pd can't? Thats the matter. Hope they fix it in GT8. Seems like pd is bipolar. They advertise the GTWS every ****ing chance they got, yet they race with 10 year old cars. And in the next update they add an Volkswagen Caddy, Opel Corsa 1.2 and an base 206. (Just an example) And im not even commenting about the fact that we dont even have an single M5 yet two different s13s. Or an single RS3,4,5,6,7. Not one.

There are several points here:

1.- Studio priority: With Forza 2023, T10 decided to follow the trend of up to date race cars and super cars (I just reviewed the list of cars on FM2023 and 70% if not more are essily race cars), there are barely daily roads cars and couldn't find any "meme" car

2.- Shared assests: Is not a secret that T10 and Playground share models of cars, this is basically 2 studios modelling cars at the disposal of both, it just a matter of licensing, but it reduces the time

3.-Recycled assets: Several FM2023 models are lazy upscaled versions of prior games, this help them to reduce the time invested in modeling, even though impacting the quality.

4.-Resources: This is a point thst could be difficult to prove as we don't have publicy shared budgets for both games, but we know that inside SIE there are studios that have more resources like Naughty Dog or Insomniac.

5.-Quality: Controversial, like or not, the quality gap is just evident between both games (more if you put in comparison the recycled assests from FM2023), is neccesary that level of detail?? Depends, if you just want to race the answer is no, but if you like to see the cars, learn from them, take pictures, etc (basically a petrolhead) then yes it is important.

And is really visible, here is the same car in photomode on GT7 and FH5 (that basically uses the same assets tjan FM2023 and IMHO looks miles better), id eady to see which one is more detailed:

Again, you can critisize both approaches (they have their pros and cons) but it also explains the difference in the amount of content being delivered as they have different goals, priorities and resources.

Do you guys think he will be at Spa this week too? Then at Goodwood? All these events are quite close in time.

In any case, he completely snubbed Pikes. lol

Car packs aren’t monetizing the game, it’s extra if you want it or not. It could stop the complaining or disappointments since you can choose to either buy it or not.

The current MTX doesn’t work since you’re paying money for something you can get for free. And I agree, mtx ruins games big time, at least gt7 is less intrusive. Car packs would be more revenue for them, we’d get something that’s not in the game. If you’re receiving more revenue couldn’t you put more resources towards that? I will say, most of the free updates I wouldn’t have paid money for. Just to get the chevelle? No thanks, but a fleet of muscle cars, sure why not.

Doesn’t have to increase the frequency of updates, release your game, there’s plenty of cars to earn and race, when the game is well into its release and losing steam, packs start dropping. Imagine spending years building a game, you sell it to your customers and then your left slaving away for three years to give them new content without getting paid for it. I wouldn’t win for one or two months of car packs, but I might on the next!

You're assuming that PD would allocate more resources into making new cars or tracks with DLC or more DLC. While that is possible, it depends on corporate policy & stuff..!! It could be wishful thinking but it's not impossible but you're wishing for re-allocation in as much as extra game content development stuff.

I was more referring to the tracks themselves, rather than trackside objects (which GT has ALWAYS struggled with). The tracks in Forza Motorsport are, in many cases, wildly inaccurate. Also, this just shows what a strange sense of priorities Turn 10 have. Awful inaccurate car models (often times using assets from much older titles), inaccurate tracks, inaccurate physics, and yet... somewhat decent trackside detail/lighting. One of many reasons they haven't been able to make a decent Forza title since 4. They focus on the wrong things, and have too many cooks in the kitchen (i.e made by a committee). Now, you could argue PD sometimes focusses on the wrong things when it comes to the career mode structure, or car/track choices, or online options. However, when it comes to car/track accuracy, and physics accuracy, GT absolutely walks over Forza. In other words... Where it matters, GT does a much better job. A lot of the rest of it is subjective choices that none of us are going to ever be able to agree on...lol

That's my .02 anyway. As usual you're mileage may, and likely will, vary.

You’re right I was assuming that and was put off by people saying the content is arriving when it arrives and it wouldn’t speed up. It’s completely possible for a company to allocate more resources into expanding a departments or pulling from other departments. It’s not that far fetched but whatever. I’m pretty much done with it. Because it is wishful thinking and DLC set a lot of people off. Lmao. I see it as a way to round out the game and fix some things I view as a weakness. Others just see more $$$ and want nothing to do with it, but are ready with their $90-$120 for GT8.

I’ve played enough gran turismo’s to know, waiting for things to magically change or fix in the next release is also wishful thinking. I’ve been blown away by the fact that we have no option to customize the HUD or toggle it on and off for so many of its releases, we had tune sharing and car gifting and now it’s gone. I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from GT8. It looks a lot like GT7.

It's amazing really, PD have created a world where both of your gaming objectives/priorities can be fulfilled like, 75%. These are completely disparate ideas, yet the game manages to keep both "mostly" satisfied with the content available.

My opinion sits somewhere on the fence, however. I enjoy experiencing the different and interesting characteristics of different road cars BUT I don't see any single player opportunity where I can really see how far they can be pushed.

That's where Sport Mode comes in.

Ok, we're generally restricted to 1 car for seven days (we have to accept not everyone can get on their consoles for a sesh whenever they want, so it's fair to keep it for a week), and even though the racing experience can often be dicey, it's the shared, competitive environment I personally need to really enjoy myself. Ghosts, replays and BoP for balance means that it really is one person's dexterity vs the other's.

What is the origin of this GT7 photo? Watermark is in the top right, I though in GT7 they're bottom left.

edit: Also, I get the distinct impression neither developer wanted to pay Maine Loisirs Caravanes for the likeness of their business or property.

I added that logo as an edit in post. The original photo is very much from GT7, you can see it for yourself just before the second chicane at Le Mans.

This kind of observation to justify "bad graphics" gives me echoes of a conspiracy theorist who trawls through pages and pages of paperwork, or hours of press conference footage to find that one time someone in authority misspoke or didn't have the exact numbers or names to hand, in order to find their 'gotcha' moment.

(I mean yeah, your example is definitely what you purport it to be, but is it really relevant?)

This is like when they fixed the hybrid on the Audi R18 2016. I am very excited to see how the Nissan is now. I forget if the hybrid deployment in the version we have goes to the front or rear wheels. Hopefully the rear wheels.

Update: It is officially designated as 4WD, whereas previously it was FF. So the hybrid does indeed go to the rear wheels!

Something cool I noticed is that you can lower the mudflaps on the rally version, and they're animated! :D
Makes me hope they'll add that to the Peugeot 205 T16 at some point.

Ooh great thanks! I grinded 3 mill for nothing then (I figured the Lancia would be a bit more expensive than the Audi). 😅 But no doubt I can use that money elsewhere, almost got all cars in the game now. 😎

The following above are part of what I called the "Stellantis Update" since these vehicles were manufactured by companies that currently form part of the automaker Stellantis.
 
Just recieved a Valkyrie from viewer campaign, completed the Aston Martin menu and was really surprised because the background they used to showcase the cars is a massive photomode location from GT6 - The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain, except it's sunrise instead of night time. And it's not one static shot, cars drive around the whole thing. Which means (unless it's a pre-rendered video, but I don't think it is) this whole location is in the game. I wonder how much of space those large 3D locations take? Though disk space is not really my concern, real question is whyyyy can't we use it in photomode :banghead: :(
