How many different car descriptions are there in Gran Turismo 7? I've noticed there's a short one you find in Brand Central, the Used Dealership, or Hagerty Collection under "More Information"; a much longer one that's only visible in the Car Collection section of the Garage; and mini "conversations" with the designers in the Café, which some cars even have multiple of.

The catalog on the website uses the short description, not the long one, right?

I just wish they'd stop writing "about 256.8 BHP", which is annoying on three levels.

Also, such a weird time to do that now. But it does remind me I didn't update the MCL from 1.61.

The font they're using does not seem to work best with some letters in polish alphabet. For reference here's how these letters should look like: ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ź, ż.

It makes a lot of sense seeing that the launch car list was obviously incomplete. This may be sign they are done adding cars. That would also explain the wave of SUVs and rando vehicles.

Fun fact: there’s an ultra rare 5 speed manuals out there capable of operating at US highway speeds. I can’t find any info on them, other than that one went through my local importer (and it had a few cosmetic modifications including but not limited to full astroturf flooring).

They couldn’t even find more information on it when it passed through their hands. I’m still kicking myself for letting this slip by however many years ago.

Minor clarification as a current owner of one of these: These never sold with a 5 speed. What you encountered is a Midget with a gearbox from an S100P Hijet swapped in. It's talked about occassionally in the Midget II Facebook group, and I've been planning such a swap out for my own Midget. It makes the spacing of the gears a lot more tolerable when paired with the normal 5.867 final drive on the Midgets - think having a smooth progression between 1 through 4 instead of the 3rd to 4th jump being a big gap.

I'd need a line drawing from "here's a brand new bit of our game's website" to "end of support for the game" to understand why it's a hint to that end.

In any case there's still at least some new cars coming.

I'll admit, that was an immediate connection I made too. Thought process was like "Here's a catalogue of everything we've shared and achieved throughout this edition for you to browse" which had underlying tones of success, accomplishment, and fun. I realize it's a reach and an assumption, but I can see how its perceived as an ending to a chapter without diving any deeper than one's own assumptions.

Web dev and game dev are two very different skillsets, they will not be being done by the same people.

In my experience, because you can actually see which pre-2001 cars exist. Also, it makes it easier to identify which cars belong to each brand.

I don't know on that one, possibly the blue marker in the three dealerships reverts back to Grey when sold? Will test theory and return with answer...

Now that’s funny, road cars are categorised as “Gr.N”, sort of like GT Sport.

Maybe they’re doing that for GT8 or as an option to select by car category in custom race? Likely not just for the latter I’d imagine.

I can almost guarantee you this is simply a carryover from the GT Sport class system. I believe at some point people were still seeing the N200/300/400 etc showing up in some settings menus for a time. I haven’t played in a couple years now, but I’m pretty sure it’s still the same system that’s used in custom races when the opponent selection is set to “random”, and bases the selection on the N level of the car you have selected. GT Sport used this system but still varied the opponents +0-200 hp (I had F50s showing up when I set the opponents to N300 while using a detuned ND Miata for example).

Best of luck on finding one! Between you and me - spring for a later EFI model (1999-2001). The carb ones are a pain.
