Meanwhile, I just saw a GT-style car reveal trailer released within an hour of GT7's, for another game on the PlayStation YouTube channel which, get this; features race cars.

Crazy concept I know.
Maybe there's a reason why other racing games seem to be adding the same things?
It's the timing of this trailer I find the most funny.
Huh?The Peugeot 205 GTI & the Citroen BX was huuuuge disappointments since we could get the 4wd versions since they were in earlier GT versions or similar cars {4wd}.
That is not how any of this works... Kaz is not making sweeping changes to GT7 based on the suggestion from some random GTP member. He likely gets 1000's of messages a day from random people. Most of which he likely ignores. Furthermore, it would take more than "10's of work hours" whatever that means. You're talking about implementing 100's of drivetrain swaps late in GT7's life cycle, and you think it will be a quick job? Drivetrain swaps would be nice, granted. It's not happening at this late stage. Something to hope for with regards to GT8, certainly.I've suggested to Kaz that PD implement drivetrain swap similar to engine swap before the autumn. Which means that there's still less than 49% chance the we'll get this important feature before Christmas! But tens of boring cars will become fun again..!! It would only take a few 10's of work hours to code..probably.
Well then, the 205 GTI is similar externally to the 205 T16 but since I drove the the FF 206 models in GT4 I know there's a big difference, but mostly because of the drivetrain difference FF vs 4wd. And 4wd vs FF or FR bigger difference than engine placement. I should have mentioned some of the 4wd cars from GT3>4 even that in GT4 many aren't very fast or very good but still fun & much better than FF cars. While being wrong on the description or the specifics especially the citroen, my main point being that in GT3>4 4wd cars muuch better than FF cars. Since we are forced to use sports tires in many events in GT4 as opposed to GT3 in which I used RS tires if the car was difficult to handle.Huh?
There wasn't a 4WD 205 GTI. The 4WD 205 was the T16, which is also mid-engined, so a drivetrain swap wouldn't get you there from a 205 GTI. Also we have the rally version of it (which was also in previous games) rather than the homologation special road car.
There's never been a Citroen BX in a previous GT game, at all. In fact, other than as background cars, one-touch phone racers, and the homologation special 4TC (Forza Horizon 5) and its rally model (some WRC games), no BX has been in any game as a drivable car in the standard content except in The Getaway Black Monday.
Absolutely not.And 4wd vs FF or FR bigger difference than engine placement.
The first half of all of those letter pairings are the engine placement...I thought drivetrain swap meant FF or FR or MR or RR or 4wd not if the engine is front or rear or mid
I thought you could access those locations through the VR Showroom mode of the PS5 versions (Granted if you have PSVR2)?Just recieved a Valkyrie from viewer campaign, completed the Aston Martin menu and was really surprised because the background they used to showcase the cars is a massive photomode location from GT6 - The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain, except it's sunrise instead of night time. And it's not one static shot, cars drive around the whole thing. Which means (unless it's a pre-rendered video, but I don't think it is) this whole location is in the game. I wonder how much of space those large 3D locations take? Though disk space is not really my concern, real question is whyyyy can't we use it in photomode![]()

Good point, I'm fine with what PD is doing. I wouldn't mind gt8 waiting until 2027 or 2028. I mean as long as we have original car ideas and models, the game is fine just the way it is. Even if we don't get anymore tracks, PD has to take one priority at a time and not rush things. That's the mistake many developers of any game makes. I'm guessing that there will be close to 700 cars by the end of the year. But that might be overwhelming and amping up things quite a bit. The trailers aren't boring, at least they show new players what to expect. Now I'm not saying GT8 is happening anytime soon (because it isn't), but I can see the logic of having GT7's updates featuring cars that wouldn't be as flashy to use in a new game trailer.
If GT8's trailer mainly consisted of SUV's, Minivans & other everyday cars, it wouldn't generate as much hype for the masses.
So the most logical way to include a lot of these kinds of cars in the game (because they do have a place) would be in GT7 updates.
Not that Polyphony are holding back completed cars for the next game either, but more that they could be choosing not to start development on more trailer-flashy cars until GT8 is closer, and thus prioritising regular car development right now.
With some exceptions that still find their way to GT7 updates to keep general players somewhat engaged, but that isn't as important as having major hype content for the next game.
Moreover, the T16 had a completely different chassis...Absolutely not.

And yes, drivetrain-swapping converts a car from front/rear/all-driven wheels to any other of those three options (unless it has three, or six, or more wheels). Hence my point that you won't be able to drivetrain swap a FF Peugeot 205 GTI to AWD and get a T16 because the T16 was mid-engined and all-wheel drive.
Been running these in custom races for a while, good fun
Honestly the BMW Z4 GT3 is still GOATed.
That's certainly also a factor, but in regards to making a front-engined, front-wheel drive car drive like a mid-engined, all-wheel drive car by only converting the drivetrain to all-wheel drive it's just garnish on an already problematic approach (especially as GT doesn't appear to directly model such things beyond what appears to be a single "flex" component). Moreover, the T16 had a completely different chassis...
You guess that there will be 700 cars by the end of the year?!!! There are currently 536 cars in the game. They would need to add 164 cars in 6 months which would average 27.33 per month! You are correct "that might be overwhelming and amping up things quite a bit".Good point, I'm fine with what PD is doing. I wouldn't mind gt8 waiting until 2027 or 2028. 550 is pretty close to 700, right? You guess that there will be 700 cars by the end of the year?!!! There are currently 536 cars in the game. 700 cars by the end of the games lifespan would be a stretch itself. Let's say PD doesn't have any plans to replace GT7 anytime soon, and keeps development going for 2 more full calendar years. That would mean 30 more potential content updates, which at the current going rate of 3 cars per update would lead to 90 new cars introduced to the game. You guess that there will be 700 cars by the end of the year?!!! Hey, they’re partnering with Xiaomi. Like I mentioned before, lots of outsourcing would help.700 cars by the end of the games lifespan would be a stretch itself. Let's say PD doesn't have any plans to replace GT7 anytime soon, and keeps development going for 2 more full calendar years. That would mean 30 more potential content updates, which at the current going rate of 3 cars per update would lead to 90 new cars introduced to the game.
And that is not including the occasional skipped month that would further decrease the car total, or a further reduction in content as PD starts to shift priorities to GT8/whatever comes next.
To hit the 700 car mark by the end of the 30 month period would require and average of 5.46 cars a month, with no skipped months. Considering that 5+ car updates only come during "big" drops and usually after a month or two update absence, the chances of this happening are basically zero, unless PD suddenly drastically increases their car output somehow.
The BX is a hoot to drive.
Good points! Maybe we‘ll eventually get Sébastien Loeb‘s Xsara WRC in a future update (at least I hope so lol).I forgot that I had another thing on my mind when discussing the new update. The adding of the Citroen BX is good news to me since that means PD did not forget this brand exists. Especially good since Citroen gets forgotten a lot in racing games. The addition of more Peugeots in the past few updates is also good news as I do feel like that's another brand deserving of more representation that it's gotten in the past. Also that Renault Kangoo van thing. Not the Renault I immediately want, but PD still thinking of Renault at all is a good thing.
I'm hoping the focus on French brand car additions don't stop.
