Gr.3 to me is fine. Okay, the Silhouette and the McLaren F1 maybe are out of place. But everything else feels like it fits. And Gr.4 is 95% fictional, I don't think there's anything really to do there that isn't arbitrary.

Gr.2 and Gr.1 need breaking up though, yeah. There needs to be a Group C and '90s LMGT1/P class at minimum. I don't know what you do with the VGTs in Gr.1 though - I don't think a separate "VGT Gr.1" class is a good idea because the whole point of, say, the LM55 is it's meant to compete with modern LMPs. And also because nobody would ever race "VGT Gr.1".

Oh yeah they added a couple more scapes from a place called Red Rock.
Did some research and it turns out there are multiple places around that area of the United States that use that name.
  • There's the Red Rock Canyon State Park in California.
  • The Red Rock Canyon in Nevada, near Las Vegas.
  • And the Red Rock State Park in Arizona, near Sedona.
Any of these could be where Polyphony imagined the fictional race track from GT2, Red Rock Valley Speedway, to be located.
I have my doubts that Polyphony would want to place another fictional circuit in California (though that's just an assumption), so that would leave Nevada & Arizona as the 2 most logical options.
If I had to guess, I would say the one in Arizona.

The name "Sedona" might sound familiar to those who know the Forza series, because that is where one of their fictional tracks, Sedona Raceway Park, is located and named after. Interestingly both SRP & RRVS share circuit design similarities, in that they both have oval elements. I personally believe SRP was originally designed as Forza's RRVS counterpart, in a similar way to how Maple Valley is Forza's Autumn Ring counterpart.

So if Red Rock Valley Speedway were to return to the GT franchise at some point (as has been speculated), my guess is that it would be located approximately within this circle:

A counter-arguement for Arizona is that it's the only 1 of the 3 that doesn't have any scapes featured.
But what do you think?

Red Rock would be killer! Just a matter of them pulling the trigger on it, it's been like a year since we had a new track.

We not getting anymore tracks, man. If that was the case what would even be the point in making GT8. Mite as whale just go full Live Service.

If there's one thought coming out of my head, it has been a while since the last exhibition season for GTWS online tournaments in Sport Mode. Sure, the next actual round in Berlin is less than two months away and there could be a change in when Season 3 might come out. But it does feel empty looking at the Sport Mode screen whenever I want to do a TT.

Or maybe I'm just thinking too much.

If you go straight to PD's site, looks like they're hiring a whole new team.

My mind is coming up with all kinds of theories, but we will see. EDIT: Or it could just be listing the current staff.

thats true, but it may be recent, i looked on the site a few weeks ago and there was nothing on this.

Hermann Tilke, some racing fans really don't like him. Not just for this track, but for basically every other track he designed or redesigned.

----
Which makes me remember this video.

He created one of the most interesting tracks Sepang International Cirquit in Malaysia!!!

Don't forget Turkey, and Austin, TX (COTA). Both fantastic tracks.

Still, a lot of his tracks are rubbish... like Abu Dhabi.
Of course not but Sepang for me is one of his top creation!! I am big fan also COTA and Marina Bay!!!

They have 18 vacants on the site, that is a good number, but I think it's normal as the project goes into full production.

But yes, always is great to see new positions (more people modeling circuits and cars! I know, I know...)

Hope they didn't get Turn10'd...
Nah. Despite what fans say, this franchise has consistently performed well on a sales level to continually warrant existing (That and with Kaz's position at Sony itself, it'd actually take something seriously dramatic for that to happen with what was effectively one of Sony's first development studios for the Playstation). Alot of the crew from the first game are STILL there.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those Forza developers that recently got laid off end up going to Gran Turismo actually.
While unfortunate for those developers to be in the situation that they are, it's pretty good timing by Polyphony to start hiring when there's that kind of talent available.
Remember when Forza's sound guru came over for GT Sport, and the cars stopped sounding like vacuum cleaners? He eventually went back to Forza, but was part of the layoffs. I wonder if he might return to GT.

The fact that he mentions losing his job to the layoffs AGAIN just boggles the mind. Sounds like he just couldn't catch a break.

Every single time Red Rock Valley gets brought back to the table, hopium levels get extremely high around here.
I'd be much happier with a different classic track (Apricot Hill, Midfield, Autumn Ring, Grand Canyon, Tahiti Maze, to name a few). Other than the nostalgia associated with Red Rock Valley, it's really not all that interesting as a track layout IMHO.

That, and... isn't it illegal in Japan to lay off people unless you're in extremely dire straits, anyway?

It could be made quite versatile if they wanted, for oval racing in particular.
Here's a quick edit I made a while ago that shows a rough idea of what a couple new roads could do. Elevation change would probably be a bit different to achieve this though:

That would indeed be interesting, but it also seems unlikely, especially when you consider what they did with Eiger (i.e only the shortest layout was brought to the game).

I'm always surprised by how much nostalgia people have for it, myself.

Like, if you didn't know any better and just read forums posts you'd think it was an SSR5/Autumn Ring level mainstay rather than just being in one game in the series.

Are you by chance the same guy who created a mock-layout of Tokyo R246? It looks extremely sensible, with an oval around the Stadium rubber baseball field (https://maps.app.goo.gl/bJPE9DV4N3XUcmdu6) a short version which cuts through the park (West), another short version which is complimentary to the first Short (East) and the overall? I remember I saw it around here and thought it was great, but can't seem to find it any more

No that wouldn't have been me, but those do sound like neat ideas.
