The AI isn't about graphics - it's pretty much all about CPU performance. If the CPU is the bottleneck then you could run the game at 480p and it would still not achieve playable performance (don't forget that the PS4 has a 10 year old CPU that was already considered terrible the day it released). It will be interesting to see how performance on PS5 fares, particularly on its 120FPS mode where a CPU limitation would be more evident.

I think it's possible a more limited implementation could work, something like a 1v1 as you say or maybe a 1v3 like the first Sophy test, but I think for now it would make sense to prioritize the PS5 version as that's where most players will be by now. Don't think they're gonna bother later on either but hopefully it happens if technically feasible.
I know but freeing up some GPU maybe they could use some of that processing power as "borrowed" CPU. In any case, since they can run 19 Sophy AI in PS5, I don't think running 1 Sophy AI on PS4 is that impossible. I don't know the exact numbers but I doubt PS5 is more than 20x as powerful as base PS4.

If I buy a game on PC I can adjust graphics and number of AI according to my system specs, and there are a million variations in PC specs around the world. PD only has to optimize for 3 platforms (PS5, 4 Pro and 4). It's just a matter of turning a few sliders on their back end up and down. I think people are vastly overestimating the work it takes to make GT7 work over 2 generations. I bet you the admin work of submitting updates for PS4 and PS5 are more troublesome than the actual optimization itself.

It literally looks like they just copied Blue Moon and Suzuka East for 2 of the layouts. Chamonix GT4 era is way better, and even the GT6 version has 4 interesting layouts.

Weird fact: The '95 400R is the third car that is has returned in GT7 DLC after last being in the series in GT2 (the other two being the Silhouette and the R32 Nismo). All three of those are Nissans or Nissan-derived. Just a weird little statistical niche they seem to have found.

Patch notes! Sorry if someone already posted this. Too many pages to read through in this forum topic 😉

Alright, here's a good difference between "Standard" rendering quality and "Extra fine" rendering quality in photo mode settings. It's definitely intended for long exposure shots, as it seems to increase the number of samples used in the motion blur, which matches what the description says

It's mostly noticeable on the trail on the left, if you're struggling to see the difference.

Just watched the new intro on Youtube.

Am I crazy or does it somehow looks better... graphic wise ?

I can't figure out why my update is over 42 GB no matter what I try, so here's my first ever YouTube short in place of real content that I can't play for the next 4 hours apparently.

Hopefully things never have to come to this ever again.

Can you link the video? I was too fast in-game to skip it, not knowing it was new 😁

4 of the weekly challenges seem to be existing events, but 1 is marked "Special Event" - a "One-Make" race for the GT3 RS at Laguna Seca.
However, the rewards aren't as shown before - for 1, 3, and 5 races, you get 100K credits, 200K credits, and a 5-star ticket.

I just did a quick race on PS4 on professional difficulty with the 190E at Suzuka and the AI was actually quite good. They would give space during overtaking moves but would also fight back. Obviously not Sophy, but seems like an improvement.

You know what? I'm okay with the car prices. Except probably the 400R but that's because the real one is indeed crazy expensive.

Rather disappointed that most of my favorite tracks are not Sophy-enabled -- Brands Hatch, Mount Panorama, Maggiore, Nürburgring, all no dice. And the only 24-hour track it's enabled for (Spa) is not available in the 24 hour mode.

What's the full sophy track list?
