i have a feeling this is not one of those 15-20 million budget games for next gen... but its nice, more titles are always a good thing

Doesn't do anything for you? Have you seen the original "Grand Raid off road" thread yet??? It is in the 360 section but I think this game looks great! https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=73622&highlight=GRAND+RAID+OFFROAD

No, it doesn't do anything for me, because so far, I've seen no damge, and the sand and dirt is "solid". I want a game where dust get's the car dirty, where mud flys up, and where sand, dirt, and mud actually react to the cars weight. NOt like this last gen Off road racer crap. And it doesn't look "great". It's weak.

I don't think that motorstorm will be better than this one, but that depends on personal preferences aswell as on how great the final game will actually be - nobody knows that so far, that's why I don't judge now.

How can motorstorm not be better than a game that has bad physics (watch the video for the floating trucks) and no damage modeling?

And I can promise you, there's no chance in *hell* that there will be that many cars on screen. That would cripple both next gen consoles in a heart beat.

The second trailer has a maximum of 8 cars on screen I believe. So that's probably the maximum amount.

Uhhh...the second trailer shows waaaay more than 8 cars on the screen. WAAY more...and the sad part is the game won't be anything like that.

We have grass that doesn't react. Fence's that are apparently holographs (since the cars pass though them easily) no damage that we've seen, and the only notice we get that we're driving on sand is dust.

So, in conclusion, we might as well be playing GT4.

Well, so far Motorstorm has nothing special to impress me. Ok the mudd, but that is only an effect, that has nothing to do with game structure or gameplay. Apparently we'll have no rumble, which could be kind of bad for an offroad game aswell.
Grand Raid Offroad is stil in an earlier state of developement, we'll see how the final product will be. What I say is, that it has a bigger potential imo. The game has a wide open lanscape, which is probably its biggest plus. Of course I hope to see decent physics, I don't really care if I race againt 8 oder 20 cars.

Not to forget personal preferences, see, I would rate current XB 360 racing games like this ( starting with my favorite and ending with my least favorite ) : Shutokou Battle 10 - NFS:MW - RR6 - PGR3 - TD:U ...
I don't think that this order would be the one of the majority, still that's how I see it.

So, I'd say we should wait for the final products, then we see how great Motorstorm actually is and if the developers of Grand Raid Offroad used their time to improve the physics...

How can you say Motorstorm has nothing to offer? Have you been paying attention to the games progress?

Damage, physics, mud, vehicle variety, wonderful visuals, online racing, etc.

You've seen ONE track from motorstorm, and all of the sudden there's less to offer? You think all of the tracks in Grand Raid Offroad will be "wide open"? No. $20 say's they're *half* that size by the time the game actually comes out.

I mean really, how fun can it be just blasting through a HUGE open field? There's no challenge to beat anyone, it's basically just a "single" player experience trying to beat someone else's time, because you're not pitted against eachother if you can just spread out and go. Even then, there's going to be routes with fewer jumps and less obstacles, offering faster times, which will lead to everyone wishing to use those routes, so your "huge areas" go to waste in a heartbeat.

I guess that's just your preference, but I honestly think you're insane :P This game looks weak, very weak, from a developer who has little experience with racing...

Damage, ok, cool feature, although I could live without so far.

Physics, well I'd like to test play the game first before I judge it. I like good physics though, so yeah, that is nice aswell.

Mud... why not, that is sth nice, but is it more than a nice little feature? Doesn't make the game good by itsself.

vehicle variety... I don't like moto bikes that much, and a buggy is a buggy for me... so, do we have licenced cars in Motorstorm ? If yes that is nice. If not, well... vehicle variety in a offroad game is not that important imo than it is in games like GT... maybe just my opinion though...

the visuals look good so far, sure...

I suppose that Grand Raid Offroad also does offer online gameplay, so that is no point.

Well, that's why I said : let's wait before we judge. You don't know a lot more about both games than me, maybe motorstorm has other great tracks, maybe they look all the same. Maybe Grand Raid Offroad has many wide open tracks, maybe not. Do you know that now ? I wouldn't bet 20$... Look at TDU... 1000 miles of road, I would call that wide open, so why no in this case?

Where did you get that information from ? Nobody knows how the final game will work, how the game structure and the balance within the wide open track will be. I said the game has a lot potential and I doubt that it will be as boring as you describe it. I didn't say that this will be a 100% blockbuster, but it could be a great game. Maybe better than Motorstrom, maybe not.

I guess that's just your preference, but I honestly think you're insane :P This game looks weak, very weak, from a developer who has little experience with racing...

Well I think that you hype Motorstorm a little too much. Sure, it could be a great game, but those who played it on E3 were not that convinced by the experience...I know that a lot can change in a few months, but...

I don't really care about visuals that much, a great looking game can be boring as hell and a game with visual flaws like pop ups or framerate issues can be a totally awesome game experience. Sure graphics can create a great and intense atmosphere, but it is only one aspect imo, and I own many many racing games, it's my favorite genre.

Developer who has little experience with racing games ? Just like Konami, yet they managed to beat GT4 in physics ( That's how I see it ).
Far Cry for PC was a blockbuster, the developer crytek was rather unknown before...
