How can you say Motorstorm has nothing to offer? Have you been paying attention to the games progress?
Damage, physics, mud, vehicle variety, wonderful visuals, online racing, etc.
Damage, ok, cool feature, although I could live without so far.
Physics, well I'd like to test play the game first before I judge it. I like good physics though, so yeah, that is nice aswell.
Mud... why not, that is sth nice, but is it more than a nice little feature? Doesn't make the game good by itsself.
vehicle variety... I don't like moto bikes that much, and a buggy is a buggy for me... so, do we have licenced cars in Motorstorm ? If yes that is nice. If not, well... vehicle variety in a offroad game is not that important imo than it is in games like GT... maybe just my opinion though...
the visuals look good so far, sure...
I suppose that Grand Raid Offroad also does offer online gameplay, so that is no point.
You've seen ONE track from motorstorm, and all of the sudden there's less to offer? You think all of the tracks in Grand Raid Offroad will be "wide open"? No. $20 say's they're *half* that size by the time the game actually comes out.
Well, that's why I said : let's wait before we judge. You don't know a lot more about both games than me, maybe motorstorm has other great tracks, maybe they look all the same. Maybe Grand Raid Offroad has many wide open tracks, maybe not. Do you know that now ? I wouldn't bet 20$... Look at TDU... 1000 miles of road, I would call that wide open, so why no in this case?
I mean really, how fun can it be just blasting through a HUGE open field? There's no challenge to beat anyone, it's basically just a "single" player experience trying to beat someone else's time, because you're not pitted against eachother if you can just spread out and go. Even then, there's going to be routes with fewer jumps and less obstacles, offering faster times, which will lead to everyone wishing to use those routes, so your "huge areas" go to waste in a heartbeat.
Where did you get that information from ? Nobody knows how the final game will work, how the game structure and the balance within the wide open track will be. I said the game has a lot potential and I doubt that it will be as boring as you describe it. I didn't say that this will be a 100% blockbuster, but it could be a great game. Maybe better than Motorstrom, maybe not.
I guess that's just your preference, but I honestly think you're insane

This game looks weak, very weak, from a developer who has little experience with racing...
Well I think that you hype Motorstorm a little too much. Sure, it could be a great game, but those who played it on E3 were not that convinced by the experience...I know that a lot can change in a few months, but...
I don't really care about visuals that much, a great looking game can be boring as hell and a game with visual flaws like pop ups or framerate issues can be a totally awesome game experience. Sure graphics can create a great and intense atmosphere, but it is only one aspect imo, and I own many many racing games, it's my favorite genre.
Developer who has little experience with racing games ? Just like Konami, yet they managed to beat GT4 in physics ( That's how I see it ).
Far Cry for PC was a blockbuster, the developer crytek was rather unknown before...
