Trailer # 2 is also on PSN for those that have a ps3, it looks awesome on the HDTV and since you make a custon icon for trailers on the menu by using footage from said trailer, I made one using the scene with niko walking towards the camera with different backround flashing behind him. This trailer definitely kicks ass :)

Awesome!

Awesome character, awesome physics, awesome car chases, awesome shooting, awesome lighting, awesome action, awesome everything! I'll echo McLaren - Rockstar have a serious gem on their hands.

I'm intrigued about the bag. I'm really hoping that you can't just pick guns magically out of nowhere. Maybe you can hold guns in the bag, big guns in the trunk of your car, or maybe you have holsters and a strap for big guns. Either way, I'd like to see a bit more realism there.

In addition to that, I'd like to see picking up and dropping items/weapons introduced. But let's not get too ahead of ourselves, back to watching the trailer all over again. :D

well if people pick this trailer apart as thoroughly as they did the first one, we should be able to learn some new things as well as confirming much of what was speculation before

Like the cell phone he was talking on towards the end? Looked identical to an iPhone.

meh, it looks more like a cheap nokia or some other basic phone, I doubt someone who has just immigrated to this country is going to be able to afford an I phone

He could've stolen it.

^ What role do you think she's gonna play? She has an accent similar to Niko's, maybe a girlfriend or sister?

I was thinking relative or maybe friend of his brothers, since GFs have a decent chance of being in the game I doubt thats who she is

Take note of the rear view mirror on the side of the car when he's driving acts like a real mirror. Also the bullets have a cool effect. I also wonder if kicking the door down is a real thing you can do?

I also like the eye movement and how he walks. All very well done.

That's what I thought!

I love how the car reacts to the bullets by moving when hit, and how the bullets ricoche in the wheel. Totally awesome!

And anyone else catch the El Diablo & Motorcycle graffiti from GTA III and GTA Vice City?

Collectors edition will have a lockable box....... duffel bag....?

Hmm... bank heist (saftey deposit box and duffel bag) hint anyone?

My favourite screen shot:

Gotta love the detail esp. on Niko himself; the lighting kicks ass; the cars have their boots/trunks open; and Niko has a bag - so hopefully we can carry stuff around in it :)

That scene reminds me of the bank heist scene in the movie "HEAT"

omg_heat_game.jpg

*Best pic I found of the scene*

Maybe this scene is linked to the scene of the second trailer where the N.O.O.S.E (Swat) officers gathering around the libery bank.

Also this picture

Shows someone (Niko?) in what looks like possibly a bank with the duffel bag on his back and holding a AK47.

Another reason to get the game. $60 for a virtual iPhone, or $600 for the real thing? I'll take the virtual one. :dopey:

I'm kidding, of course. Kinda.

I do love the new trailer, though. The best one I've seen for any game in a while. And I've had that song stuck in my head for the past 8 hours.

The dashboard theme looks absolutely awesome as well.

2004 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Ruslana, from Ukraine, will be voicing a character in GTA IV. It's being kept secret who she is voicing. She will also, most likely, provide some music for the game, too.

Also, Planet GTA have completed their shot-by-shot analysis of Trailer Two.

The detail on the fuel pumps at the gas station also looked extremely great. Perhaps we'll have to fuel our cars? It would make the automotive part of the game more realistic.

Could add an interesting twist to car chases if you get a low fuel warning and have to find another car or make a stop at a petrol station to fill up while the cops are trying to take you down.

Lots of new details on GTA4.net. Some of it sounds a bit far fetched like surfing the net.. What do you guys think?

Anyway, no Pay-n-Spray, and new chase/escape features and multi-faceted missions:

GTA4.net
* The demo begins in Grand Theft Auto IV's equivalent of Times Square: Star Junction. There aren't many pedestrians present at this time, but this is most likely due to the early nature of the code.

* The mobile phone can be used to gain weapons. In the demo that GamesTM saw, Niko calls his associate Little Jacob, who is a caribbean arms dealer. No more Ammu-Nation it seems. After a brief chat with Jacob, he tells Niko to meet him in an alleyway in Rotterdam Hill, where he purchases the weapons from him.

* Niko can use taxis to get around (presumably he can use the phone to call a taxi). The police are much more vigilant in GTA IV, and sometimes it is less hassle using a taxi than jacking someone's car. The trip-skip option is available for convenience.

* In the demo, Niko recieves a call concerning "shady lawyer" Goldberg, of Goldberg, Ligner & Shyster (GLS). Niko can use the internet in GTA4. He heads over to an internet café called the "Tw@ Café," and hops onto a PC before surfing. He uploads his CV to the GLS website so he can get an interview - before killing Goldberg. He receives a phonecall confirming the time of his interview. The web is available from any computer in the game, and provides a hub for all sorts of interactivity within Liberty City.

* Missions in GTA IV can be interrupted. The interview isn't until tomorrow, which means you can carry out other business until then. This suggests you can be do several missions at the same time, and missions can take place over several days, perhaps.

* Next in the demo, Niko pays a visit to somebody called McReary, at Castle Gardens, a coast-side hangout overlooking the Statue of Hapiness. McReary has had a memory stick stolen from him which contains sensitive data, and he wants Niko to retrieve it for him. He takes another cab to the meeting point, where the target is standing amongst a crowd of people. The problem is he doesn't know which one it is, so he gives him a call to see which one picks up their phone. Niko shoots the target three times in the back of the head, before taking the memory stick and making a run for it. He gains a three-star wanted level as a result.

* Committing crimes isn't as easy in GTA IV. You gain a wanted level for every crime you commit, aslong as there are witnesses present. Once you have gained a wanted level, a visible (circular) search area appears on the radar, and if you escape this area without being spotted, your wanted level will flash and disappear. If you are spotted, however, the search area's position changes, and centers on where you were last spotted. So unlike previous GTA games, the police don't always know where you are. They can't catch you unless they find you first. It was confirmed previously that in GTA IV every street will be named, and this is what cops use to communicate when they are tracking you down. There are no Pay N' Spray's to save you this time, unfortunately.

* Before heading off to the interview, Niko goes to a menswear store called Perseus. After spending $2,000 on a new suit and shoes, his phone alarm sounds and he begins his journey to the GLS offices for his interview. He speaks to the receptionist from outside the building via intercom, before making his way into the building. He enters Goldeberg's office and puts a bullet in his head, which causes his secretary to trigger the alarm. Niko must beat security guards and police in order to get out of the building. Bullets rain down on him, and there's a police chopper waiting outside. It seems as though the more bullets he takes, the more damage he takes, and hence he becomes less able to fight. The damage is actually visible this time.

I hope the lack of Pay 'n Spray won't make it to the final version, I've been caught many times with 5 & 6 star wanted levels, nearing death in SA and VC and barely made it in time.

Awesome new chase system. With helicopters that will be quite difficult to escape unless you can find a rather big underground area, like a tunnel…

That does all sound very good, except for the pay'n'spray. Surely they won't make it that difficult to evade the law.

I hope that too. I was disappointed to see the pay'n'spray go bye-bye. I cant wait to see how this works when we get our hands on the final copy.

I'm actually glad it's gone. It adds a centre of realism to the game. I doubt that it'll be that hard to evade the law, and the difficulty and the search area will expand due to the extent of your wanted level. Simple: if you want to go nuts and kill lots of people, it's not going to be so easy. However, if you commit a less serious crime, or a quick kill and leave the area, it will be easier.

But this puts a big centre on car-chases, too, and actually lets you out-run the law. I'd rather proper car-chases, and hiding, than spray-painting your car in 3 seconds and leaving, even though the police saw you enter the Pay 'N' Spray. So, even though it's a legendary part of the game, I'm welcoming the new system.

I also really like the fact that he got a three star wanted level for killing someone, especially in a public place. It really annoyed me that you only got a one-star wanted level for killing one or two people. I hope they extend this to getting rid of how the cops chase you. Maybe they can do away with trying to ram you off the road, even with a one star wanted level? I hope so.

I actually really liked the system in Mafia, where for less serious crimes (usually traffic offences), they try to pull you over and give you a ticket. If you refuse to pull over, or if you commit a more serious crime, they will try to handcuff you. If you commit a very serious crime, they will then try and take you down. I hope they incorporate something at least along the same sort of lines.

Lastly, the internet addition is pretty cool. Judging from the sound of "it will be very, very important", this might extend to downloads for the game, etc. That's just a guess, anyway.

Awesome new news, anyway!

I like that idea Jimmy. It'd be nice to have a police chase where the goal isn't to throw every cop car at you from every single direction.

BTW, since this is NY, I wonder if the biggest vehicle will be a bus. (You can't have NY without its buses.)

What about a Pay'n'Spray that only works if the cops don't actually see you entering the garage? I agree it's a bit daft to drive into one at 100mph with every cop in the city right on your tail and to drive out 5 seconds later and they ignore you.

But if the map isn't big enough for planes, then surely there won't be that much highway in order to properly out-pace the police?

I also, contrary to spme of you, don't want to play a game that is particularly realistic. I've played 'the getaway', a quite damn realistic game (No radar map, damage effects movement, horrible aiming system) and it wasn't fun in a GTA sense.
