http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36401Steve started walking Niko through the city while he spoke to me about various features in the game...more music than ever...lots of Eastern European music that hasn't been released in America...very cool stuff. But perhaps the coolest thing I saw while he was playing was when he stopped touching the controller. Niko stood still while Steve was occupied with something and right there, a taxi got rear-ended by another car.
What followed was pure magic.
The cabbie and the guy who hit the taxi jumped out of their cars and approached each other. Once they got in to each others' face the fists started flying. Meanwhile, cars are honking for the two vehicles to get out of the way. The two keep slugging away and a cop pulls up. He jumps out with his pistol drawn and both men throw their hands to the sky, surrendering. The cop then drags the cabbie away (he punched first), puts him in the backseat of the cop car and drives off. The other driver returns to his car, gets in and pulls away.
Holy ****.
This whole routine was not staged...it just happened, and we were just there in the right spot to catch it all.
Stuff like that...subtle things, like bumping in to someone with your shoulder makes them give you a dirty look as they walk past...authentic dialects from all over the world...all of this makes this game excellent.
Another review has just made itself known to my email inbox. Jack Rosberg sent along some (very small) images of a new review of GTA IV from the USA's Official Xbox Magazine.
They awarded the game 9.5 out of 10 for its "wonderful environment", "deep multiplayer" and for offering over 90 missions in single player. They say that multiplayer includes a 'Party Mode' where you're free to switch among gametypes with friends without having the game disconnect or split players up.
They say that you'll also be able to progress through eleven different ranks online and that it's possible to call the other team using the game cell phone during multiplayer. The only problem which the magazine feels the game has is that it has too many "filler missions" which don't develop the story at all.
Sorry guys, somebody just give me a quick update please! I downloaded the last trailer on ps3 and in the end it says 29.4.08 - does that mean the next trailer is coming out that day or the real game!!!!!!!???????
Chris
Love those random AI details, going to be fun just to stand and watch.
No more trailers, the game is coming 29th April.
Who would pay $30 for a crappy duffel bag, a CD with music you'll already play out in the game, and a "safety deposit box"?![]()
Considering $30 gets you an actual Soundtrack (w/ tons of music), large Dufflebag, Art Book, and a rather large deposit lockbox, I'd say that's a pretty good steal, more so than that Halo 3 Collector's Edition....
But you're not just paying $30 for a lock box. As far as I've seen, your average duffle bag ranges from $15-$25, and I'm pretty sure the CD containing all the songs with the Artbook, are worth a nice price. If the lockbox was actually a quality piece then yes i would have paid extra just for it, but its not. Its a very thin crap piece of metal. As far as the other stuff like dufflebag etc. I really don't care about having it. Others might, i don't. Soundtrack, thats just another dumb reason to spend 30 bucks to me, especially when i can download it at around 723k a sec.....![]()

Yes, which is why i talked about the other total garbage you will be getting also. I bet you anything the duffle bag will be as cheap as a K-Mart one. If the company isn't out for profit then why do it? Im not some little kid who's mom and dad are buying this. I work for a living and i will not pay for more crap that i just don't need just because it says rockstar on it. Plus i have never used a duffle bag, i get these free things called plastic wal-mart bags i use most of the time. I would use that lockbox like i was saying though, just to much of a POS to pay extra for all this garbage that i don't need.
So, in realty, you've never seen this material, yet you claim it's crap just because you don't need it?
That sounds like a totally, valid opinion.![]()
I have seen it, do you have the internet? I claimed its CRAP that I don't need. Learn to read. I was just laughing at the fact that people would pay more for total crap that nobody really needs. You can buy a damn gym bag at the thrift store for 0.50. And when i asked the guy when i preordered it he said that the lock box isn't very good quality, and i said yeah thats what i figured. Companies just love to waste money, not make it
Oh and don't forget the keychain, a keychain! I have to have that!
Party systems have become popular in online games. Invite some friends to your party and you'll be able to teleport around to various game modes, sticking together between each session. But you won't be sitting around long staring at boring screens. That's because Party Mode drops you into a secluded part of Liberty City with a host of guns and vehicles available to smack your buddies around. This is your lobby and it can become a pleasant distraction while the host tries to get his act together and launch you into one of the many multiplayer modes available.
You still didn't listen to my point about the entire thing....sigh.
bah, its arrived in the warehouse but im not allowed to play it till the 29th![]()
Oh and isnt the install thingy on the 360 just a rumour? I heard that it was alot of rubbish. But hey i could be wrong! dont get me wrong i would deffo support the idea of it for quicker loading times and framerate.
Thats awesome. Sounds like the lobby system is similar to MX vs ATV Untamed and Saints Row. You get to set in an arena or a room and just mess around with friends and other people until the host starts the game. Now I just hope we can kick out the ignorant or racist people from our lobbies.Sweet, even the lobby sounds awesome. 👍
