Anyone know what the trade-in value for GTAIV is? Gamestop's website puts in the $30+ range but if it's only worth $30 then I'm not really going to be bothered to trade it in and I'll just force myself to keep playing it. Yes I know many of you liked the game, which is cool, it just didn't hook me like the other installments and now I want to get rid of it.

The single player is quite weak. The multiplayer online is where this game truly shines. From what I remember you hardly play online. I am sure you will only get around $30.00 for it.
 
I played online but I'm not good at gaming so I don't do it often. I think I am going to dump it, along with a couple other games since there are some games in the pipeline I want to get.
 
Im no noob even tho ive had the game for 4 days and got my ps3 4 days ago :P

I was on Free mode and there were 3 kids like 10 or 12 in a store talking on headset
they were talking about Tactics and getaway cars and a lot of rubbish
I was like wat.... brings out the RPG shoots the store kills 3 of them and there cars

You're an ass. If you want to kill people, do it somewhere other than free mode.
 
Amen to that, I don't use online any more because the game says "Kick back in Liberty City with friends". So I think "Awesome, it'll be just like going to town with friends, but with CAR CHASES. So I join, and no more than 5 seconds later I'm dead because about 5 assholes with RPGs are next to me when I spawn.

So the moral of the story is:

THERE'S A DEATHMATCH MODE, USE IT ASSHOLES.

Perhaps they will release a "selectable" invincibility patch for free mode-- that prevents you from getting hurt and hurting others when in freemode.... you won't find me outside of GTA Racing very often...

I checked my ranking today in each race... the best I found wat that I'm ranked 411 in the race Drag Kings-- rankings are by fastest Lap time

I also have now won 75 games out of 342 games played-- this is mostly (but not all) GTA races-- my overall ranking is pretty pathetic though...around 432,000th place-- my money is about $135,000.

One thing I noticed yesterday is pretty interesting--- was in a heli race-- it ended and me and another person did not finish-- and our heli's fell out of the sky after the time ended.... the person started a race right after and about 1/2 through the race there was a smoking heli sitting on the course-- I can only assume it was one of ours left over from the heli race-- anybody else experienced a multiplayer glitch like this... was sitting there each lap of the race (3 laps)
 
A LOT of ppl use Free mode to kill randomly ya know...

plus I killed those three caus ey were too annoying on the headset and it was funny to killing them :dopey:

I gotta say, I am definitely guilty of killing in free mode. Not that there is necessarily a rule against it. I honestly have never thought of it that way. I guess it just seems that there is always more people in free mode than in other modes when I am online so I end up getting my killing in there. Sorry if I've been pissing anyone off out there lately. I generally only kill people that don't have mics though for what its worth. The way I figure is that if you can afford a $400+ console you damn better buy a $20 mic right? Anyway, I guess I'll try to impose a new "only fire when fired upon" rule for myself in free mode? Seems about as fair as possible amongst strangers.

No reason you can't have a sort of "deathmatch" in free mode, but when I'm trying to explore the city and get blown up all the time, you bet your ass I'm gonna be a little annoyed.

BTW, I don't have a mic, and I don't see why I need it. The game is not supposed to be a chatroom, and if I'm doing something in free mode that doesn't involve cooperation of the other players, why would I need a mic?
 
I have a Mic so i could chat wif mates and annoy ppl :dopey:

caus this person was being racist and braging about being level 9

so i said he had no life and all and he left

plus he put on the godfather accent thinking he was cool...

I think I got to level 2 last night. I've played a sum total of 3 races (one where everyone but me and the winner quit - $0 - and one where everyone but me quit - $0), one Deathmatch, one Team Deathmatch and two Team Car Jack City games (both of which were last night and saw me killing 7 and dying once).


I'd play more multiplayer if I was further along in the game (63%)

I've only got the game and PS3 last monday. I've done like 15% and have played about 11 Hangmans NOOSE and got payed about 40,000. I've failed some caus of people... :dopey:

My online person is the Black Stig from Top Gear :dopey:

Thats why you set up your own room in "Party Mode". I am talking about the 360 version. Or set up private rooms with private slots. You can also vote to kick people out that you dont want in the game. Maybe the PS3 doesn't have those modes?

You can turn off friendly fire if you dont want to be killed by other people. There are a LOT of online options for the 360 version. Not sure if you have the PS3 version.
 
I do have PS3 and you can turn it off, however I believe only the "host" can do that... not that I spend much (any) time in free mode. We have "kick" also, but not when the game is in progress (unless you do this with your phone or something).

I pretty much sucked playing yesterday-- 2 days ago, I couldn' lose a race-- yesterday, everyone had my number while racing--

Rank is still level 4, about $154,000 now-- almost all from racing--

Anybody been trying out the sanchez for motorcycle racing?? I have been and while it's acceleration isn't that great, the top speed isn't much less then the other bikes but it's handling is alot better so whatever I lose on the straights, I make it up on the turns when the other bikes are sliding... I've won almost every type of race with it-- it does awesome on the ones with lots of turns but I've even won "round the block" with it??

I'm about 65% done-- done with the story... I'm finding it hard to do all the boring odds and ends with the multiplayer staring at me all the time. I try to knock out at least one thing (at least a jump or "man" date) every time I turn it on. I've only found one random character-- still need to do some more brucie races/cars...

Regarding my post of the last page--- anybody experienced a vehicle from a previous race carrying over to a next race-- I saw another one last night-- we did round the block two times in a row last night and I saw a "wrecked" car from a previous race right near the start.... I saw a smoking heli (from a heli race) during a car race a few days ago.
 
Is it worth getting a ps3 if i will more then likely only play Gta IV and GT5?

I spent the extra for the 80GB PS3 so I could play my PS2 games... love the wireless controllers (if you have small kids you will appreciate this) and the fact I'm not tethered to the console.

Built in blueray player-- with the price of these-- PS3 is still a bargain-- although unless you have an HD tv... I would wait unless you still want to game on the console.

It does have some built in media capability-- you can share photos/music/videos very easily over a home network-- play them on the PS3 but have the data be on a remote computer...

It does have a web browser but I don't like using the PS3 controller for navigating-- it is supposedly capable of using a USB keyboard and mouse and this would make navigating much easier.

It is expesive though-- and at $499 + $60 for another controller and another $30 for a DVD remote-- you would have thought they would have included an HDMI cable-- NOPE.... not that I need one yet as I'm still playing on a regular TV....

the graphics are still very impressive-- I use a Playstation S-video adapater and it is pretty good-- better then the standard connectors it comes with.
 
You'd make a good ps3 salesman. I have an hd tv, but dont quite have the money so ill see how i go.
 
Are there still 80 gig ps3's available?

Did they ever make one bigger than that? like a 160 gig? or am i talking trash here?

Id like to get my hands on one so i can tuck into gta4 and mgs4 and gt5p and assassins creed, and rainbow 36 or whatever number he's on now, and maybe even some topspin3, which is a very very hard game to master, though fun to play. But anyway, i digress.

So.... are there?

I don't know think the bigger HD PS3s are available yet... when I looked for the 80 gb ones back in march... I could not find one locally, I got one from Sony Style stores online with free shipping... ordered on sunday, got the following saturday...

I'd expect a 120 gb or 160 gb PS3 out before christmas--

It says out of stock on the 80 gb one... it was out of stock when I ordered mine too... they shipped it 2 days after I ordered it.
 
VEXD - you want a 60Gb one (eBay only) for all the connectivity options, then buy ANY 2.5" laptop SATA drive (250/320Gb are the norm) you fancy and put it in. They even tell you how to do it in the instruction manual...
 
I agree with famine.. plus you can use external drives in the USB port too. So DONT base the ps3 off the HD space as its so easy to get more if needed.
 
Gamestation have got pre-owned 60gb PS3's for about £330 with one game.

EDIT: Just checked when I was town this afternoon. 60GB pre-owned with all leads £319.99.

I'm on level 4 too, and although I don't play on the PS3 much and my time is split between GTA and GT, I still think it's taken me ages to get there! And level 5 is about $93k away :scared: That said I've spent most of the time racing and the most you can get for that if you win is maybe $1600. I've started doing Hangman's NOOSE recently and you get $4500 each time from that, and I've made $7500 in ten mins from a successful Car Jack City before, so racing is a really bad way of making money.

Well I only have those two games and it works for me! That said I'm considering buying Battlefield Bad Company for a bit of variety.

Incidentally, has anyone else noticed a lack of players online recently in GTA4 on the PS3? I know a couple of big games have come out recently but I didn't think people would desert GTA that quickly. There are a few online modes which don't seem to get any players at all. In contrast, I've played GTA4 on the 360 a few times recently and the multiplayer modes have been packed.

Oh yes. It's as infuriating as it fun. Although it makes me thumbs hurt.
 
Ahhh just had such a good fun multiplayer session. Airport only, friendly fire off so nobody could kill each other, and utter mayhem with cars, ramps, scooters, helicopters and explosions :D
