Supposedly there is hardly any CG in the video and it is all one take. I wonder how many tries it took to get it right, though (:

thats cool. ive seen shorter versions of that before. you know ive actually just realised how incredible that ad was. it must ahve taken them forever to set up.

That 'style' of ... art (?) ... mechanical movement ... whatever you call that ... well it's something a guy by the name of Rub Goldberg used to draw cartoons of.

http://www.rube-goldberg.com/

Pencil Sharpener:

Open window (A) and fly kite (B). String (C) lifts small door (D) allowing moths (E) to escape and eat red flannel shirt (F). As weight of shirt becomes less, shoe (G) steps on switch (H) which heats electric iron (I) and burns hole in pants (J). Smoke (K) enters hole in tree (L), smoking out opossum (M) which jumps into basket (N), pulling rope (O) and lifting cage (P), allowing woodpecker (Q) to chew wood from pencil (R), exposing lead. Emergency knife (S) is always handy in case opossum or the woodpecker gets sick and can't work.

Yeah, well, I work for an advertising agency and I have to call BS on that (:

But whatever, we'll give them credit. I wish we still had the Accord Wagon in the States - it's always been my favorite body style of the Accords.

They put heavy weights inside the wheel on the side they want the tire to roll to. I've done it before on a smaller scale (:

It makes the "upside" heavier causing the tire to roll that direction, regardless of the slope. You can try it at home using a roll of toilet paper (with paper on for grip) and tape coins to the outside edge. Then place it on a gradual slope with the coins on top slightly to the uphill side of the roll of toilet paper. When you let go it should roll uphill. The way they did it in the commercial with multiple tires (tyres?) was to ballance them just perfectly so that a nudge would get them going.

Well, when you get paid for that stuff, i'm sure you can make room for time, lol. That's really cool, it's kinda hard to imagine the tires rolling uphill like that without cgi. must be something I didn't catch. Anyway, old or not, it's still cool.

That's insane. Just 'little' stuff like how the exhaust was balanced PERFECTLY on the crankshaft. Would be a shame if someone sneezed...

Whoa holy crap! Wouldn't it be cool if you read a few posts up? Nooo ... that'd be logical!

For a while Honda UK were giving out free DVDs of the ad with special features. You just had to email them and it got sent, I got one:D

I had the DVD, it took them around a 1yr or so making the damn thing, excellent commercial, great effort WITHOUT CG, and farlry innovative.
