You get Ravenwest offers by winning drivers' championships.

I was expecting them to go up, and to keep going up. Flying past at 200km/h, it kind of looks like there was an explosion at the M&M's factory.
which one is drivers championship ? the thing is this is my second playthrough because my first one got corrupted and i never got any offer from them yet and i won a lot more races in that first playthrough

I do my research.... :p

Also... if they just went straight up... you wouldn't see them as they'd go out of camera shot very quickly. I do try all these things before settling on the best visual approach. I don't just add stuff and hope it works.
Hey, I don't doubt that you give 110% to your job - GAS is proof of that.
Indeed, tracks are truly alive thanks to anim8r_uk 's work 👍
So far we've only heard about all the stuff happening in the sky, but i'm curious did you also do the animations on other things that happen on the ground like crowds and stands?

If you're the driver with the most points at the end of a season, then you win that season's championship, even if it's only two races long (like the first Endurance season). What you did in your previous save file will have no bearing on the game now, since you're playing with a different file. If you didn't get an offer then, it's because you didn't win a championship.

You can't unlock Ravenwest without winning a championship, unless you have somehow tripped a glitch that nobody else has encountered.

i didnt say that my first save could possibly affect my second save, it's just that it's weird that in my first save, i win all the championship and never got an offer at all. Now in my second save, i got the offer. I thought it was random until you told me about this.

Ravenwest only make offers for championships you have already won. Other teams will make offers for uncontested championships, but not Ravenwest.

To add on to this, if you're winning Driver's Championships left and right, Ravenwest can send you an offer to race with them in the GRID Grand Slam, for example.

I'm looking forward to winning every championship in every discipline as a member of Ravenwest. Where I stand right now, it won't be until Season 99 or so for me until I completely get that done as early as possible. And by then, The Crew will already be out.

The balloons actually move with the wind... very gently. Most of the airplanes takeoff/land and fly on the correct flight paths in and out of airports.

I also used 'artistic license' for some of them (business jets etc) :)

Dubai and Yas Marina (in drift events) also have parachutes in the background. The hotair balloons also move with the wind direction.

Hahah, no wonder there's screen tear in almost every replay and during some instances while racing! Thanks for clearing that up. 👍

No, the crowds are done by the animation team.

  • air vents
  • steam vents
  • L-Train sparks (chicago)
  • Leaves falling from trees
  • birds flying out of trees
  • fountains
  • mist (okutama)
  • wildlife ( ;) )
  • moths
  • bugs
  • atmospheric FX
  • drift smoke FX on corners
  • parachutes
  • seagulls
  • construction workers (welders etc)
  • distant traffic
  • Heat haze (track)
  • Display jets
  • Biplane (Brand Hatch)
Vehicle FX:
  • Crash FX (paint pieces, carbon fibre, sparks etc)
  • Tyre burst FX
  • Wheel grinding sparks
  • smashing glass
  • headlight/tail light smashes
  • sparks/dust when cars rub together
  • exhaust flames/pops
  • heat haze from exhaust
  • radiator/engine damage smoke
Kickup FX:
  • Tyre smoke
  • Drift tyre smoke
  • Burnout smoke FX
  • Grass kickup
  • Gravel trap kickup
  • General gravel kickup
  • mud kickup
  • rumble strip kickup
  • Off-line kickup FX

  • Grass collision FX (when cars roll etc)
  • Gravel collision FX (cars rolling)
  • Tarmac collision FX (sparks when rolling etc)
  • Concrete barrier collisions
  • Tyre barrier collisions (with and without water)
  • Water droplets on screen (tyre barrier collisions)
  • armco collision FX
  • Car on car collision FX
Frontend/Menu FX:
  • Floating dust/smoke on 'Press Start' menu screen

Not sure if joking or not...... :S

all my FX work are within the budgets that are set for FX work. Balloons and other FX on screen are all optimised and won't be the cause of screen tears in replays. There's a lot going on in the game and we're pushing the machines to the maximum we can do with the engine.

HOLY CRAP!! You did all that!? Amazing!! :D

@Imari @mister dog , thank you for your assistance, I'm just on the fence is all. I may take the advice and wait just a bit for the price to fall/more people to join for a more fulfilling online experience.

Maybe its because gt6 career mode is so lack luster I care about the online play, but sp mode on this sounds amazing.

As far as system, ps3. My pc is 4 yrs old and wasn't intentionally a gaming one; so I doubt my computer will run it nicely. I have a xb360, but my g27 wheel doesn't work on it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see nukedogger86 cruising around GAS by the end of August.

I did indeed.... and that's just some of the FX artwork. It's not including all the planning, tech meetings, art management meetings, polish and bug fixing.

And to be honest.... I'm not the busiest person on the team by any stretch....

....so you can see why I don't like it when people call us 'lazy' :D
Seriously, you got my respect @anim8r_uk. I am really amazed at you and others work on GAS. Cheers.

Anyway, I think I have figured out how to unlock K&N. Every discipline has three tiers, and every tier has three championships: a short one, a medium one, and a long one. The game specifically tells you that if you meet the team objectives in the medium championship, you will attract the attention of the bigger teams. Winning unlocks Ravenwest, but if you just meet the objectives, then other teams become available, both in that championship and the longer one. For example, I did the Tier 1 medium championship in Open-Wheel with Razer and finished second, which unlocked Monster in all three championships for Tier 1. So to unlock K&N, I reckon that you have to fulfil all of your team objectives in a medium-length championship that K&N race in (usually Tier 2 and Tier 3; I have only ever seen them in Tier 1 Endurance races) without winning the drivers' title.

I think there is some truth to this, but it's still pretty random. I did the EBC Brakes Open Wheel Champ and finished in 3rd place. Initially I had Cusco and Oakley unlocked but after this I had Oakley and Liqui Moly. I think this is a programming glitch by CM. There is no reason to make this one team so much harder to get. I didn't even try to unlock all the other teams and still got them all.

I really hope this game becomes more popular, it makes me sad seeing an online leaderboard with just 41 people...

I think you guys did a great job with this game. I really hope this will be the new foundation for the future racing titles from Codemasters Racing because this game has amazing potential in both execution and gameplay design.

I hope that next-gen EGO version is in development and that we will witness the old Codemasters glory to come back. I am certain how positive trend of pCARS and Assetto Corsa - although both are much more simulation titles - will also give positive momentum for your planning.

I especially love the overall online portion, because it is basically a separate game-within-a-game and it is executed amazingly intuitive and brave. From the decision to make it a completely separate mode, to my beloved feature of permanent damage (detorriation).

I hope your forecasts for GRASP were reasonable and I hope that positive word-of-mouth will influence sales on the long-run, securing future developments.

It would be great to see some re-release for PS4/XBONE in 60fps and full PC effects sometimes in the future.

Congratulations on the work and effort - I have certainly noticed a big plane coming down when I was racing Red Bull Ring and I was saying to myself "there is a landing stripe near". Now I know it is 100% deliberate decision to have it there :)

👍

Hear hear! You've hit the sweet spot this time codies, don't change a winning formula now and build on this for future GRID games .

Leaderboards are screwed up ingame, you have to check on racenet instead ;)
Normally there's a 1000+ people participating in each challenge on the global leaderboard.

One issue. I live in America. For some reason, I have the hardest time finding any code master games anywhere. I know it isn't an American company, but things like operation flash point, f1, and now this are hard to find. What gives? The largest company on the east coast didn't even have a copy.

F1 2013 physical version was never released in NA, but all the previous F1 games were and I just bought them in a store. GRID Autosport should also be available everywhere. However, they do seem to stop selling the F1 games after a few months, probably due to low demand, so they can be hard to find if you didn't buy them right away.

That's good to hear. But what about online lobbies? I see very few of them. Is it different for you?

Was somewhat joking yea. Although the screen tear can get annoying sometimes. The hardware's aging yes, but perhaps better optimization and more testing? Don't remember Dirt 3 having tearing, though there's a lot more happening on screen in GA.

The visual effects are top notch BTW, good work there. Unlike Forza (as an example), where there's usually a disconnect between visual fidelity and particle effects.

Not an online room player so couldn't say, but so far i heard the amount of people on there has been disappointing (probably because singleplayer is so good :D).

I just got this a few days ago, and the racing feels so much more realistic than that of GT! I also love the way there's a car going airborne in the middle of the track and that we both defend and attack. I just have a quick question: I race on 2x and was wondering if the tyres' life is double as well as the race. Like, is there say, 5x the duration of the tyres for a race that's 5x the length?

There's only tire wear in endurance mode, but yes it is scaled so you can choose your distance and the tire wear is scaled exactly the same accordingly.

Have any of you guys got the Black Edition Dlc to work? I've downloaded it (20 or so mb) but no special liveries or additional sponsor objectives appear. Am I missing something? :dunce: Ps3 version
