Exceptional for a couple of reasons.

1. First video I've seen of truly good driving. Shows what the cars are capable of when driven on the racing line at the limit and it looks good. When you have less skilled drivers unfamiliar with the tracks and cars like the other videos I've seen you get a lot of oversteer as they crank the wheel and stomp the pedals. That's the same in every game. But this video shows the car driven on the limit, nice and smooth. I like.

2. The AI. If this is representative of the AI quality, all concerns anyone has about AI should vanish. The driver had a perfect opening lap, hit every mark, every apex, used the entire track...and was 1 second up on the second place car after starting on the pole. I would venture to say 99% of players won't have the skill of this pilot so the AI should be scalable for just about everyone in the game.

Regarding 1: the single seaters have been looking good physics wise (as far as you can judge it by looking), since the start, people mostly had doubts when they saw the touring cars swerving on the apex of corners. But as you say the video shown with those TC's had a dude driving them that wasn't as skilled as the team VVV one here. My guess is it's gonna be just fine mainly because of the videos i saw of the insidesimracing boys (Darin Gangi has practically every racing sim out there), and they were quite impressed.

Regarding 2: Someone with good skills seems to drive away quite easily on hard, so 'very hard' would be our cup of tea after some practice it seems (the vid i posted really isn't that exceptional :)). Is there another difficulty level above very hard @anim8r_uk for the aliens among us?

The AI difficulty is also being tweaked, so it'll be harder than the Team VVV video too:)

The last time I played, I did a 6 lap race in the Peugeot 408 SCB against a full grid on Very Hard, No TC and no ABS and Manual gears..... I couldn't qualify higher that 6th and ended up 4th in the race..... And I'm one of the top 3 fastest racers in all of Codies :)

AI should provide a good challenge for all us Aliens :D

Very Hard is the hardest mode that I'm aware of.... I'll ask the design team for confirmation.

I didn't realize it was on very hard until I looked on Youtube but still, 99% of drivers will find this AI very challenging and I suspect most won't be able to beat it. I'm basing that on your typical driver from GT who does not have the skills for that kind of car control.

As @anim8r_uk says above, take off all the aids and shift manually for the best challenge:lol:. Perhaps there's also an option to detune or take off some downforce or add weight.

There are some basic tuning options, but don't expect anything in the realms of simulation on that front :)

I am a pad user and I will run the AI on medium/hard to begin with. I'll switch of the assists and then I just start racing. I am sure that for the debut, the medium AI will satisfy my needs , then when I get the hang of it , I will switch to the harder difficulty settings.

I am not an alien driver and I don't have the time to spend 20+ hours a week to become one. All GAS has to do is put a smile on my face while racing :D Still I out-qualify @anim8r_uk though in that 408

You'll never out qualify me in the Pug :P lol

May I ask:

Will different A.I. drivers have different attitudes and aggression levels? Like, will each A.I. driver with a name have a characteristic driving style in a way that you would see a driver in the competitors list and know already how careful you have to be around him?

Also, I remember in Grid 1 there was the Global Drivers' Classification with some real life drivers in there, can we expect such thing in Grid Autosport as well?

@anim8r_uk Since it's not in the official car list, in which class will the SLS AMG Black Series go? Will it be under "Grand Tourer" or "Supercar"?

now now... :p

It would be great to do this with you guys when the game's out. I know what's possible and what's not.... so no cheating will be tolerated :)

There's still room for improvement on these times.... just a heads up :D
If the reviews are good and i buy GAS i'll be sure to add you, let's see how we fare on those leaderboards. For consoles you gonna be on the ps3 version only?

Will that be like a weekly challenge? Liquid Molly taking on Brands Hatch? :D

There seem to be at least 8 other PSN users in here that are using RACENET, hopefully it will become a bit more crowded on release or just shortly after. Damn this is going to be a lot of fun :D :D :D

Am defo up for that 👍

Would there be any difference between PC and PS3 times?

@anim8r_uk, have you seen the PC version? Any differences between the console and PC versions?
If memory serves, PC is 60fps an console is 30fps. One would assume the wheel setting options would be different and more extensive on PC.

Have you not had ITCC_Andrew in yet??
Although he appears to be living in one of those inflatable bubbles, our Andrew has some speed. I'm sure he could give the top of the board a run given some time to get used to the game.

The professional drivers don't get any time to get used to the game..... they're sat in the D-Box and given the Ford Focus touring car and 5 laps around Brands Hatch... that's it :)

@anim8r_uk, have you seen the PC version? Any differences between the console and PC versions?

Yes, the game has been developed on PC. As you'd expect, PC will give the best graphics and framerate, but the console versions are looking good too :)

I actually use both PC and Xbox to balance the VFX across the game.
