Very poor sales for GAS as it could only manage 7th in the UK chart. That clearly shows going last gen was the wrong choice.

Why so quick to judge?

I wouldn't read too much into that. The game was only released in Europe on Friday.

We're sitting 2nd in PS3 sales charts, 2nd in Xbox sales charts and 4th in PC sales charts.

7th in overall retail charts, when we only released 3 days ago isn't bad at all.

It's believed that GAS was always intended as a send-off for racing games on the last generation of consoles. Putting it on next-gen would have only dampened the intention.

Also, Microsoft and Sony are both losing money on the next-gen consoles. Developing a game for them isn't really an option for Codemasters, at least until the consoles start to turn a profit.

Hi anim8r_uk :)

any news on the black content code issue, 360 version?

I've e-mailed custservice but thought I'd ask you seeing as you're here

I mean, versus paying paychecks etc., sales themselves are of little value.

A sniper game was only released on Friday also...That got to no.1

Had you released on XO/& PS4 which both are crying out for games it would of been a totally different story.

Finally got it today! The single seaters

Way, way, way bigger improvement on Grid 2 (not hard to do that though, mind). But certainly feels more like the first Grid we all loved :D

In love with this game! I wasn't expecting much really, a filler between Grid 2 and Grid 3, or a way to pull some sales in 2014. And I am yet to fully get into the game yet, only in my 3rd season! The AI difficulty was initially too low for me, and I was annoyed by the level of rubber banding I saw (Touring class). Very glad that matching the AI to my level at the next race resolved the issue and made for a much greater experience! The only regret I have is that the "team" aspect from the main Grid games has gone, as I loved being able to see all of my cars in my favourite colours. Other than that though, a very welcome surprise and £35 well spent!

Sorted :D Your customer service suggested clearing my 360's cache and then try to download the Black stuff

Worked a treat. I'd suggest anyone having similar trouble tries it. Might work on PS3 too 👍

Awesome....glad you got it sorted.

Racing games make up about 5% of the gaming market total. Any shooter (1st or 3rd person) will nearly always do better than a racing game.... we're not at all suprised by that.

As for XO/PS4.... we did the numbers... we didn't take the decision lightly. We don't just pull decisions out of a hat and run with it. At the time of going into pre-production, install base for next gen was expected to be around 5 million world-wide by June 2014. PS3/X360 install base was around 150 million world wide..... guess which market made the best sense to cater for?

Next-Gen sales and perception has taken the whole industry by suprise...we're not alone in that.

Also, we had a product with Grid 2 that didn't satisfy our customers to way we wanted it to. we knew we could do better and make the game fans have been wanting. We did that by using the current tools/tech and engine. If we'd have gone next-gen, we wouldn't have been ready for June 2014. we didn't want to just 'port' a PS3/X360 game to next-gen as WE wouldn't have been happy with it....let alone our customers. When we do Next-gen, we want to do it right.... for the right reasons.

Grid Autosport was designed and budgeted for current-gen release. We aren't expecting 10millions sales on day 1 and we never were. we knew exactly what we were doing when we started the project.....and we're all exceptionally happy with what we've achieved.

We're especiialy happy as most of those who have played and bought it are really enjoying it and most of the feedback is very positive.

I mean, versus paying paychecks etc., sales themselves are of little value.

If we didn't pay paychecks....you wouldn't be playing Grid Autosport right now..... Sales are what generate those paychecks :p

Just out of interest, when will we, and the gaming industry, start referring to current gen as last gen and next gen as current gen?

Surely the PS5 and XB2 are now next gen?

When both consoles are on sale in the majority of territories, they become the current gen to some people. However, there is that awkward transition period which lasts for around a year which others still refer to the new releases as next gen because of the relatively low install base. I believe the PS4 and Xbox One will be unanimously viewed as current gen from 2015, when they would have been out for more than a year.

With my Logitech G27 wheel along with my PS3, is it better to have the multiturn on or off when racing?
I've seen people use both, so just try both and see which feels best to you. I have multiturn on but turn steering saturation down to 45%.

If you use multiturn, you need to turn up linearity (more +). If you use multiturn off, you need to turn down linearity (more -). Check out my wheel settings one page back. That's the closest I can get to 1:1 steering.
