Thx Dog, I'll have to consider that!

I have GAS running PS3 at 720P and a 57' tv. I can not read the smaller fonts displayed (they are ghosting and appear doubled and blurred).

If it's just blurry i think it must be your TV settings as i haven't had any problems with the lettertype on my humble LCD TV, but i'll check it out when i get my hands back on GAS this week ;)

True, but having the same problem again and again, game after game means they really need to rethink how saving is programmed into their games. I owned 20+ games on PS3 over 6 years and the only problems I have with gamesave corrupting is with CM games. It's ridiculous. If they're quick with their patches that's forgivable, because I understand that software sometimes do have bugs that escape Q&A no matter how stringent. Like with the latest GT6 update where changing wheels would freeze the game, PD instantly released a hotfix the next day. But in Grid 2 I waited 2 months just for a patch while they released multiple DLCs in the meantime.

That should give you an idea of their priorities. A company like that isn't worth supporting IMO.
My hunch is this is an inherent PS3 issue in many cases. There is a history of game save corruption, the forums have many posts on this issue, and not just CM games. I have never had a PS3 game save corruption myself but then again I have never put mega hours into any game. And in the case of CM, most of their games I have on the PC.
I could be totally off base, but history doesn't seem to point to a CM only issue.

Get some glasses :D
lol that's what I had to do when the time came in my gaming life

To the reason I logged in...

I've just done the GT2 races where reverse Algarve and Spa were involved, and I'm in
agreement with a sentiment I saw expressed earlier in this thread

Reverse real-life tracks...

Don't like them. Don't like the idea of them. I wish game makers wouldn't do them :(

But if they didn't we wouldn't have, under normal circumstances, experienced Eau Rouge in reverse or the intense bends on Bathurst. Those were a lot of fun.

In general though I will admit I'm not too fond of the idea.

Someone mentioned that Nathan McKane is related to Ryan McKane from previous games. But I'm pretty sure he's not the only reference to a previous title - I'm sure Kicker's Jade Martin was in a DIRT game. Also, does anyone else think Dmitry Arsov sounds like "Dmitry Arse-ov"? If so, he's well-named - he's a pain to pass.

As for reverse circuits, I quite some of them. The chicane makes Spa awkward, but otherwise, it's really rather nice. Jarama is a lot of fun, especially with the downhill right-hander behind the paddock, and the first complex is very nice. The only real dud is Mount Panorama, but the section from the Elbow to the Cutting would make for a nice hillclimb.

My question to you guys who have played it: is it different/better enough compared to Grid 2 to warrant a purchase? Normally I would pick up a new Grid title in a heartbeat, but I have no desire to fire up my PS3 for anything other than GT6 (and even that desire is wearing thin). I've moved on from last-gen, but us racing fans have had literally nothing to tide us over until Project Cars and Driveclub in the fall. By the way, it's absolutely criminal that no publishers aside from EA have attended to this genre for the entire first year of this console cycle.

I played and enjoyed Grid 2, even though I'm at a point now where all of Codies' Ego racers feel identical and stale to me. And I'm semi-annoyed that now, when they finally come around and release the game that fans have been waiting for since Toca 3, they do it on last-gen hardware to ensure only a very dedicated few will play it. I still have my PS3, but I sold my 360 and I really just want to move on...but everyone here seems to be really positive about this game, and I have nothing else to play.

If you would have read a bit through the first impressions thread, you would have bought it already 👍

Glassjaw, I play GT6 and wonder if they are ever going to add the features promised (8 months now). I bought GAS over a week ago and although it's not as polished as GT6, I am having fun having challenges again. You will have to get used to very aggressive AI which unfortunately drive very dirty. But on the whole...it's much better then only having the seasonals that PD provide.

Forgive me for being just a little skeptical. After spending $60 on what really just amounted to a prettier version of the first game with slightly improved physics, you can understand why I might be hesitant to shell out more cash on a sequel just one year later for a console I don't care about anymore.

Indeed, but i'm sure all the positive opinions in the 16 pages of the first impressions thread, by many different GTP members will be enough to convince you. That's what the thread is for actually ;)

I can give you a hint saying it's nothing like GRID 2, if i go on all the info there.

The GTP livery is changed periodically (different colours/sponsors).

Thanks. I just joined the club and I'm wondering why when I win races/XP it shows up in the club leader board but the racenet news feed says that 0 XP has gone to the club...am I doing something wrong? I would like to contribute!

This is the message from racenet:

PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENT
YOU WON A RACE FOR GTPLANET RACING, CONTRIBUTING 0 XP TO THE CLUB LEADERBOARD.

So I've been playing a lot of touring cars online now level 18 but its annoying me the fact I can't win races a lot. Ill probably win one in every 10 or so races. Any tips would be great. Also I keep getting into lobbies with bad sports who try to run you off the road. Probably another reason. In total I've won 86 races.

Know the cars. If you're driving Cat-C, you can really flog them as they're very forgiving. If it's Cat-B, remember that they're bigger and heavier, but you can use that to your advantage by braking later and using the car's inertia to carry speed through the corner. If it's Cat-A, they're very fast but have less downforce than you would expect, so you really need to be thinking about where you want to be on exit.

Thanks won my first race today out of about 30 lol guess it will come better with practice. I can easily win in open wheel class but not the touring class.

Open-Wheel cars generate considerably more downforce than Touring cars. You pretty much need to re-learn every circuit across the disciplines. And where the field tends to string itself out in Open-Wheel so that you race in tight clusters, it's very difficult to break away from the pack in Touring, and you have to be comfortable racing in tight quarters.

It gets better once you step up to GT1 - the cars naturally produce enough downforce that you can start to drive them like racing cars.

Order of favouritism with the series:
Tuner < Endurance < Street < Touring < Open Wheel
I just do the tuner events to keep up career progression, but it shows I am a fan of good short races rather than something irrelevant or a long stint out front trying to keep tyres to the end.
