Back to old Cockpit view since there is nothing but sun.

Also, don't know if anyone has noticed but I decided to add an extra layer by driving these locations to their exact Weather forecasts in real life at the time so if a Weather app says its nothing but Sunshine in Dubai this weekend, I therefore drive said track in Complete sunshine (JJ Abrams Lens flair and all).

Sooo, abit of an idea: This game features quite a few cars from One-Make series so I have the idea of making these races specifically mimic the real life counterpart abit (Exact lap distance, Standing starts, etc). So if one of these gets picked in future polls:

Expect a slight full blown effort to replicate said respective series.

I don't know if it's just me or not but I continued story mode yesterday and the difficulty doesn't seem to be constant on Legends level. Some races are nearly impossible while others were quite a breeze.

Its not just Story mode with this odd issue, I've been doing Custom races for my youtube channel and some tracks the AI is simply uncatchable (Suzuka) while others they are just way too easy to breeze past (Okutama GP)

Good to know that I'm not the problem (mostly) lol.

Worth noting that with this video, Mount Panorama will no longer show up in the polls as a choice now that all its configurations have been raced on (Only in themed videos depending on the cars and real world events). This will similarly happen with many others tracks, with two already down to their last three configurations. Also because I currently can't afford the DLC tracks OR cars, that'll pretty much be it for this series of videos once I've basically raced..well, everything since I don't see me doing the rest of the career mode races being anywhere near as interesting considering this series effectively is built on people's choice (Something that will always be interesting to the public).

Abit late due to two blackouts AND being very much engrossed in certain races but Polls are up:

After a long hiatus, I have returned to continue the Career. About to wrap up the Open-Wheel series, I just need to get some miles on the car to unlock the Tier 2 upgrades. Then, that will be the halfway point for the Rookie group.

Seems ai isn't really under much physics rules?
Just faking it, i dont know.
Game looks nice, has wide range of cars etc it seems. It's 90% off on pstore, but i dont know if worth it still.

£6 ?! Absolute bargain, as long as you din’t expect any kind of sim. Pure arcade and that’s fine.

At least it seems to run 60 fps on ps5 with high resolution, even replays.
I just would hope its satisfying, nuanced and challenging handling enough with no aids and a controller.
Edit: just read a review talking about this point, and it seems mindless even with no aids, plus arcade things like time extension, gonna pass..

Really depends on track and combo, but AI is abit inconsistent. At Suzuka regardless if its dry or wet, they seem impossibly uncatchable. At Okutama, they seem to barely put up a fight. So it appears very track and combo dependent.

Otherwise, not bad. Might not be super spectacular, but its ok (And if you like your classic Codemasters cheese for a story, this has quite a good bit of it).

Yeah thanks, it's a shame they dont give the option of a more satisfying challenging intuitive handling model it seems, even no aids on, from many reviews. You can't lose control, can bang on other cars, roadside with no risk, fudged handling it seems.

Because the game seems well done, lot of content, 130 tracks, city road tracks, you can set up your own tracks it seems, put obstacles etc, that's pretty cool.
Trucks, etc, but if the feel and racing isn't satisfying.

I tried the demo of the crew motorfest, how would you compare the handling with grid legends?
And the challenges?
Do different cars feel more different each than in crew motorfest?
They seem pretty similar in that.
Etc.

Are there endurance races in this game?
Are there multi class races?
Can a steering wheel be used?
Are there races that require pit stops?

  • Set ones in Career: no. Closest you can get is setting the amount of laps in custom race but that's it as there is no Day-to-Night Cycle.
  • There are Multi-Class races (Not many in career but there are). You can even set up your own with whatever classes you want in custom races (Think PCARS 2)
  • As a wheel user (Logitech G29), I can confirm wheels can be used. I do advise that if you're on console to calibrate it as not doing so will make some cars at some tracks undrivable (Still have flashbacks of the Renault R25 barely turning at Sepang)
  • No pit stops of any kind (as has been the case with the Grid games)

Thank you for the quick and detailed reply.

I love PC2 so I understood your reference. It's gonna be a bummer to set up an endurance race with no it stops

I decided to get the game finally 40mins before the end of the pstore sale.🤣
At 1st, i was disappointed with the handling when dropping aids off, not that much difference it seemed.
The starting part with that prototype car, and audi touring type car, then one of the 1st career events with the small ginetta.
I almost uninstalled and felt i just wasted some money.

Im using gamepad for now, ds5 on ps5, very smooth controls.
I then tried the career beetle events, and switched to cockpit and dash views, better feel, and sound, and it got interesting when pushing it to the limit.

You can feel there is a good engine under this game, its surely from dr2 game engine, same cockpit views, replays, sounds etc.

You can definitely have a nice feel at the limits, albeit made to be easy with a gamepad, but you have room for mastering handling still, and can get in trouble, lose time, even lose it on curbs, in hits, under braking weight transfer veering the car to one side, etc.

Each car is different for now too.
Sounds are pretty damn cool, tried the old Porsches, race beetle inside views.

Ai is fun, they race pretty well really, in curves too, i thought they'd just have a speed advantage on straights but it's pretty well done and fair, and not a problem much for now, if you run cleanly.

But they seem pretty hard to destabilize, you need give them a good shove at the right time.
If you piss one off, you can try be fast enough so it can't reach you for revenge, and they dont seem to cheat much for now.
Im not using upgrades for now.

I tried both ps4 and ps5 versions on ps5, ps4 version runs and looks just about same, and i even prefer the ps4 version, less weird balance of sounds and trigger effects.
Maybe even better vibrations effect.

Ps4 version on ps5 looks, runs great, perfect, even full grid replays.
There's replays of time trials even.
Replays are super, clean, smooth, good lighting, dust, effects with slow-mo etc.

Nice photo mode too. Roadside buildings detail and cars look super, and you can set the sun time of day, looks cool, different effects, etc.

You can run up to 99 laps races in custom mode, cool.
The coms guy can give you updates on the race, etc.
I thought you could set up custom tracks more though, seems it's add jumps, boosts, weather, etc. No layout changes or custom placement of obstacles.

Tried time trial in custom race creator, ai seems a good challenge on max, some tracks or cars more than others.
Also shame it seems you can't set up more than 4 events?
And save them if you set-up a new series?
Weird setup a little for custom events, but its nice that you can set any car in them you want, and a few different types of races, team races, with ai partner.

Career looks pretty substantial, and you can make races in it longer with a lap multiplier, 2x up to 5x, so the short 3 lap races can be 15 laps etc.

Looking forward to try more cars, tracks, tracks are cool and nice, challenges in career, maybe try with my wheel, many say wheel implementation is great so..

Would be more immersive and fine control, i just worry it will lessen the challenge of handling there is.
Happy for now, was cheap, 90% off.

Edit: also damage is done well enough, can affect handling a lot, etc.

I also like the drafting effect, not too crazy exaggerated from too far etc, but effective closer you get, and gives you just enough time to swerve to pass with a good boost of speed, makes it thrilling enough to try use well.

Edit2: not sure but, it seems maybe some rare times there's a bug on timing of ai displayed after a race.
One ai was behind me on head to head lap times, near the end, then it crashed and i crashed into it, turning into my nemesis, but of course it messed that lap for it, having crashed.

That was the last lap or just about, and at the end, that ai had a time about 5 secs faster than any other ai or me suddenly..
Other ai times were pretty close together and made sense, so it looks like that last ai time is screwed up. I dont know..
