How to update. Open the G Pro app on the PC. It may update your G Pro app version first, I have mine set to update automatically. After that, start the wheel and make sure you change the device you are connecting to from PS5 to PC. Unplug the wire from the wheel to the PS5 and plug it into the PC. Update should occur.

I downloaded and installed the update today. Cheapest update I have seen in a while, all cars below $100k.
The surprise is that most of the PPs have been reset. Some have gone down by more than 20 points and some have gone up to 15 points. All screwed up. I have tested any cars to see if the handling is different.

The physics engine was updated, and they touched much more than just PP. According to the GTPlanet article even some default suspension settings have changed. This is going to be ... interesting.

I got some interesting before/after 1.71 data from the Le Mans endurance race I've been running.

This is the same race, same Porsche 962, same setup and Race Mediums. I had about four hours of telemetry from before 1.71 and another two hours after the update, so it's a pretty decent accidental A/B test.

The first thing I noticed driving after 1.71 was that the 962 just would not pull like it did before. In top gear I was staring at the tach wondering why it wouldn't get much past 7400 RPM.

Turns out I wasn't imagining it.

Before 1.71, it was reaching about 234 mph / 377 km/h and roughly 7,830 RPM on the long full-throttle sections. After 1.71, it's topping out around 223 mph / 360 km/h and 7,420 RPM. That's about 11 mph / 17 km/h slower.

It's not bouncing off a new 7400 RPM rev limiter. Tlemetry says the car is simply accelerating less at high speed and settling at a lower top speed. Interestingly, one of GT7's internal calculated-max-speed values also dropped from 229 to 221. I can't tell from the available data whether PD changed engine output, drag, or something else.

Lap times took a beating too. My median clean lap went from about 3:06.2 before 1.71 to 3:13.3 afterward. My best went from 3:03.9 to 3:10.5. So this isn't just one bad lap or me screwing up a corner; the whole stint is slower.

Fuel economy improved noticeably. I got roughly one additional lap per tank. That could simply be a consequence of the car being slower and accelerating less, or it could be due to something else.

The other thing I immediately felt was less rear grip, probably due to the updated tire models. I definitely had some rear-end wiggles I wasn't accustomed to, including one that cost me the lead briefly, but the telemetry does not show a simple across-the-board increase in rear-wheel slip.

Anyway, I thought I'd pass this along in case anyone is interested.
