I am really excited for this car to debut. I have been following it since it's inception. To finally drive the production car (in a game) was pretty exciting. My first reaction was to how fun and easy it is to drive. It wants to be driven fast. It handles corners amazingly. It shifts/downshifts smoothly (3-4 is super quick). Toyota wanted to make a car that was fun to drive. Power was never a top priority. I can feel it in the car. I did a few rough 0-60's, and they were pretty high. I was surprised to see there is no turbo or supercharger option in GT-5. However, Toyota/Subaru are still working on those options, so it would be premature to put them in GT-5. Overall, this car made me come back to GT-5 (Forza 4 is pretty amazing IMHO) and I am glad I did.

What was your first impression with the GT-86?

Haven't driven it yet but so far I'm not happy with there being not turbo available.:grumpy:

EDIT: Alright so I've upgraded and driven it and(other than no turbo) I love it. Great speed and handling. It's really fun to drive.

explain this please .

i tested the car it handles perfectly , unless you mean something else , i'm not happy because there is no turbo just like LyingTruth said .

Handling is sweet as in my opinion, one of the nicest cars to drive stock and at 500PP it is pretty mighty.

it's not as lively as i thought it would and should be :(

After some time, I am almost meh about the car. I feel horrible but its true. I agree that driving it must be a joy, but sometimes you need that extra oomph.

LOL WHAT?

Ive been racing it online in 500-510pp rooms and its wonderful to drive. It handles way better than a Supra.

Although the torque on it is measly. A torquier car (ala supra) would kill it at the same PP..

But I think it handles wonderfully (I do have a tune on it though)

A bit more factory power would be nice. I really do like the way it handles. It feels neutral and very well balanced. Point it where you want it and it goes. Easy to drive honestly.

I'm going to get another one to fully tune and see how that goes. I'm sure it will be just as good.

It's already one of my favourite cars in the game. It's one of the easiest and most fun to drive, looks great, looks even better with the aero parts and is one of the best handling cars imo. I also really like the interior.

I wasn't able to photograph the interior like I usually do (zoom past the window). Was this patched? It looks super low-res :(

No, looks terrible, handles nice. Handles real nice.. but this could be because I can't get enough speed to take a corner too fast. It's so slow I wouldn't want to own one IRL and try to pull across a busy intersection.

That kind of slow. It does seem to handle great though, very neutral as said before. It needs a supercharger to give it some low/mid-range grunt out of the corners.

Handles great and drives smooth.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this car is underpowered. I do feel that it has great handling, (after installing a set of Sport>Soft tires), but I believe a lot of the "great handling" comes from the fact that it's so weak. It lacks any power to have a personality of its' own.

After a run around the 'ring with the car completely stock, I installed the "every-man" upgrades- racing air filter, fully upgraded exhaust, and the ECU tune... it has a little more pep now, but still fairly wimpy.

I'll break down and fully mod it out and give it a proper tune to see what happens, but I still don't think I'll get much out of it. The lack of a turbo option is somewhat disappointing.

The handling is amazing. This car could be a fixed-roof Miata (hopefully) without the chick car stigma. Power was never the top priority of this car, so I'm letting it slide. Put some power mods on it, and you got what I can say is the perfect drift car.

Considering the real car has ~12.5:1 compression, you slap any forced induction on there and it'll blow up. That's probably why they're missing.

What about those na race cars, lol... I know those are standards, but still...

I actually thought the car handled well and the brakes were amazingly good. Then, I looked at the speed I was carrying into the perceived braking zone, and went, "seriously, I'm only doing that speed. This thing is freaking slow!"

Actually it's because there's no space to fit FI into the GT-86.

The more you know... ;)

Did a couple laps with it earlier today. It's definitely a sporty car, with good handling as well as being somewhat quick. However, the 6th gear is waaaay too long. On the long straight on Nurburgring, I never went above 132 MPH (though the car does have ~200 HP and 150 ft-lbs of torque.)

My first thought after driving it was "this car does NOT deserve sports hard"

Sure it handles nicely, but come on. A car with that little pep came with sports tires?

To me this car was over glorified. Like those crappy parody movies that look AWESOME in the previews, but in reality suck.

The one thing that got to me was when I compared it to my real car (no flaming please). I have an 87 trans am, 305 v8 and I think it's safe to say any modern sports car should be able to out perform it, especially after you consider I have the slightly smaller motor. Anyways, 0-60 was about the same maybe a tiny bit faster. Handling was close but no cigar, TA wins that m, but the place I was mortified of was anything above 100mph. I mean come on. Downhill SS7 and I only just managed 141. Sigh.
(/rant)

Sorry, I just expected so much more from this. I was as hyped for this as a lot of people were for the sound.

I will admit though. That is one SEXY car.

I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Thanks.

Would you say that the gt could out handle a bmw 335? I know for a fact that my ta can. I would like to know why that made you laugh so dang hard. Have you ever drove a mid 80's ta? Do you know how well these cars handle? I'm being completely serious. I'm not saying that the ta is some sort of god like car. I'm just saying it's damn a damn good car and a good one to compare to.

An E90 335? I highly doubt that.

You can doubt what you want but I did it. Closed course track day. We were both going as hard as we could and he couldn't shake me. I was right on him the whole time. In the straights he would pull on me but in the turns I had him. I'm not making this up I promise.

Next time, take a video.

Well, it's over 600 lbs lighter, has a lower CG, and has an LSD whereas the BMW doesn't. Suspension configurations and weight distribution are similar. On the same tires, yeah, I think it would.

He couldn't drive. I did several track days in my old KA24 powered S13, and I got waved passed by C5 Z06s, E46 M3s, FD RX7s, etc. That doesn't mean my car was faster, because it sure as hell wasn't. Congrats on being the better driver, but you're still delusional.

Huge edit:

Ok I'm going to stop myself now. At first I thought lack of sleep was only getting my grammar and spelling. I'm not saying it handles way better but about the same. Yeah being a better driver does make a difference, but looking at how that car was leaned over it didn't look like it had much left.

Il be back tomorow,or later if I can't sleep lol.

Ok waaaaayyyyyy ot. Oppositelock. What the heck does veni vidi duci mean?
