Hi all!

Welcome to my 1st post!

Really excited by this challenge.

I'm completley new to driving games, so am trying to learn fast. Got GT5 from the missus for Christmas, and have been trying hard to get upto speed as quickly as possible, which is pretty hard with all the other stuff one must do these days.

Fired this event up on Sunday, and put in about 8 laps, and got a 2:31 - so still a lot more to learn, obviously.

Got a whole day off on Wednesday, so am looking forward to sitting down for a good few hours of practice.

Aim for the end of the day will be <2:25 - Pretty lame I know, but everybody's gotta start somewhere! :)

Almost had a miracle lap, up 0.1 on fastest time through sector 1, down 0.3 on sector 2, then clipped the barrier going through the sector 3 s bend.

You keep on clipping those barriers mate :guilty:

Awesome time so far mate, I feel I'm pretty much reaching my limit now at 2:18'4xx. I'll still try to get that magic lap and that sub 2:18 but it's getting hard to find that extra time now...
 
Took another .1 off I can still see loads of time just annoying putting it together :(. 17.8 now with the DS3.

I was pretty happy with this, but I'll keep going til I get a 2:21
 
2:24.1 so far.
I've done about 20 serious laps, and I feel I'm just getting to know the track.
Tonight I want to knock of at least a second.
 
I'll keep going tonight to see if I can shave more off my time. Another aim I have is to be the only person so far to reach 2 national finals in 2 different countries!!
 
Finally finding some pace. The transition from external to bumper cam view is starting to pay off.

Now if everyone ahead of me could stop improving their times ta very much :lol:

I still can't believe you were getting such good times with the external view!! Are you using the Active Steering now? I can't see if it's help because I still have a lot of time to spend on the track to really notice the difference (hoping to be in 19" tonight if I get the time!).

Yup i turned it on last night and it seems to help, all other settings are off bar the usual abs +1.
I switched back to external view just to try it and can't believe how little grip and seemingly non-existent turn in(despite using same lines) there is compared to bumper cam.
 
Lol i went from cockpit view last year to external view (i take it that is behind the car view?), enjoy the engine sounds....:)

Agreed, its much more of a laugh in external view, especially when theres a big field of cars when racing. But when you need to be razor sharp with corner entry and exit the bumper view is best - i'm truly converted lol
 
Managed to take almost .4 off my lap last night.. And would you believe it was on the out lap.. Bloody 18.021.. :crazy:
 
Slowly geting on the pace.... 6th in UK 2'17.840 (external view-tryed cockpit briefly wasnt on the pace), picking wheel up today so i dont expect to improve to the weekend atleast.

Greetings fellow racers,

I've been trying my best @ Eifel, very high level of competition as always. The track is great and so is the car. Watching some of the replays i noticed that settings differ regarding Active steering,TCS,ABS etc. I know about ABS and TCS but what is Active steering? What does it do exactly?

How much did you end up paying and where did you get iit from? I'm thinking of getting one, my DFGT keeps pushing the ps button or changing my view when I go around corners.
 
Had my 1st proper crack at this today, and managed to reduce my time from 31, down into the 27's. Took about an hour tho!

Got a lot faster after I put the ABS to 1, I've always had it off throughout the whole game before, but it certainly helps a little.

It's just so difficult to drive as fast as you can, and still string a good lap together.

Got another hour I can squeeze in tonight, so my target will be to get into the 26's.

And got a whole day off tomorrow, so if I can get into the 25's, I'll be well happy.

Still a long way off most of you guys tho! I can see where I can fairly easily find some time, but 10seconds?! That's a lot to find!

Ti-tech - ineligible (been to Silverstone)
Timppaq - ineligible (FI not included)
DHolland - ineligible (been to Silverstone)

No clue about EDDSKILL, maybe still doing the Ferrari Academy? And no clue about others either..

Wouldn't still be suprized if Mr Lacombe shows up on the board later on.. :p

You surely have found the speed again.. Hopefully this time you'll make it to the Silverstone 👍 :)

-Jean-Philippe Lacombe (Phenicks) is currently at 2.17,8
-Arnaud is playing everything else but not GT5, i bet he´ll join at the end.
-Dan don´t has a wheel at the moment, also AU is not part of the Academy this time.

i know about the countries in 💡 :p but in your case and Dan.. just for fun, i'm sure it is possible to create an account in an eligible country.. ;)

it will be a luck to be in my region final and even if so... from what i experienced last year in my country and for what I've seen about Spanish final (carnage) i can only wait that Mr.Random pick me... :lol:

£55 on ebay, i got a great deal! there usually up at £70-£80. in a as new condition barely used.

So weird! I thought it was just me... so frustrating when you are in the middle of a corner and then all of a sudden you have no control as the PS button has been pressed from the inside.

What's also odd is that it only started happening with GT5. Prologue and all other games had no issues like that.
