Some very impressive laps out there, with a pad.

But can't say I've tried it with one (or would want to). It might actually be a bit quicker of the curbs/heavily cambered corners as you haven't got the wheel fighting against you!? Who knows...

I'm not going to touch it now until Wednesday. People will definately get into the 2:16.xxx's...Moose, who's ghost I've used twice now is missing out a much quicker line through the double right hander, that I would class as turns 4 and 5. Once he does that in his lap, he'll be 3tenths faster for sure...

Ye RPM I've noticed that with moose's ghost to :p. He loses 2 tenths on my line at least (When I was on a wheel), I've just been practicing on pad thats it so unsure how much in comparison to a pad.

I would still say wheels are faster, It's just that you have to get used to them and I've hardly used mine really so was still learning it.

Damn, it's gonna be tough work to keep up with this. You drop down so much when you don't have time to play :/

I'm getting a G25 tomorrow evening from a friend. I feel the DFGT is costing me too much time as the pedals are so weightless and you can't get the precise input I need to nail a great time.

Out of interest, what wheel is everyone here using?

Jesus!! Can you send one of those odd experience's over here.. :)

Nice to see so many familiar names on the leader boards going well. I'm quite surprised at how competitive the times are so early on (in previous competitions it's taken a week or so to really get warmed up). I think this is going to be the toughest Academy qualifier so far.

I ran about 30 laps last night mostly learning the track and had a few decent laps towards the end resulting in my current time. I can see a lot more time to come off but I'm not in any rush this year! It's very different being ineligible - I'm missing the excitement of competition but at the same time enjoying feeling nice and relaxed.

I don't expect I'll be anywhere near the top 20 at any stage but I'll be having fun putting in a few laps every so often. I'm also hoping to be at the national final so would be great to meet friends old and new. 👍

Hey Johnny boy, great to see you having a crack at it! I also hope to be at the national final in a different capacity so hopefully we can have a drink and a laugh without the pressure

I actually think people will hit their limit faster on this combo than before as it's so difficult compared to previous combos, then again maybe because it;s so hard it will take the rest longer to reach the frontrunner's times.

I remember Moose stopped about 2 weeks before the end last year and was still in the top 20 at the end.

Well done superdan on going top in UK and World rankings. That time surely is good enough for Top 20 in the competition already? I wonder how long before someone breaks the 2:17.5 barrier.

Judging by last year, you'd be astonished in 5 weeks' time what the top 20 cutoff is.

UK/Ireland's Top 20 time will need to be in the 2:17.xxx's I predict...

I'd love to get a list of people who arn't going to be able to compete though, just for peace of mind haha!

My G27 is out of order so I'm using my trusty G25 from last year...

However since I am not eligible to run this year, I won't be running any more after today apart from an odd lap later as I think I may have to write about the combo at some point. I just wanted to have a decent few sessions and see if I could break the top 10 and stay there as last year I only made it to #10 for about 15 minutes...and I've been in there all day today with more time on the plate, so I'm tremendously happy to call it a day there and wish all of the eligible drivers the absolute best of luck  :gtpflag:

All the best

So as some of you may know im a little new to the wheel thing, so decided to go back to my pad and instantly took .4 of my time with ease lol. Sitting at 2:18.4. 17 Barrier should be broken tonight with ease.

Amazing time for a pad Tidgney, respect 👍
Im pretty sure you will need to use a wheel if you make it to the national final though.

DFGT for me :)

@Tidgney: Quick time for DS3! What button config do you use for throttle/brakes, triggers or right analogue? Cheers.

Cheers guys but there's alot of time still left on a pad, as I only just went back to it. Im using the analog sticks and L2/R2 for gears. The main reason being you don't really need to brake/accelerate at the same time, as the car requires patience more than anything.

@ Enigma. Ye I'm pretty sure I will to I was in the 18's already on the wheel, but once I get a time I'm happy with, with the pad (17.4/17.5) I'll go back to my wheel and aim for that (My best split times on the wheel do equal that im just more consistent on my pad at the moment). I'll also have a play around with the settings I think as even though Maz used those wheel settings im guessing they aren't suited to my style as I dont feel consistent or as in control.

I´m angry, I drove three times on the limit, but everytime there frozen on the target straight.

Have a other user the same problem?

Yes that is annoying, happened to me on the 1st day.. :ouch: Haven't had it since though.

Ran a bit more this morning, took .4 off my time. Would like to find a bit more time in the last sector. 👍

We (french players) are experiencing this problem a lot since this morning with the replay of WGP.

Freeze the game and no possibility to load another ghost ????

American Team skills member.

Great time non the less.

I must admit, it makes my life a little easier to see a few of the really fast guys are sadly ineligable.

I won't be running properly for a few weeks yet, I'm more than happy to mill around in the top 50 for the moment.

yazzzooogaaaa! whipped out the wheel and took nearly a second off my pad time

Wow, I leave for a day and come back and I'm like 33rd. Madness. Back up to 20th now. I can see the time, I just need to link it all together.

Well done PR1VATEJ0KER, awesome lap if it's one of your first with a wheel. Let's try keep the paddys in the top 20 :P

haha, I feel so alone theres only 17 irish flags on the top 250.

They should show Scottish and welsh flags too, would be interesting to see how smaller countries are doing.

Just had a look through the all regions leaderboard and noticed some off guys at top are using tcs or active steering. I would've thought these would slow you down!

I'm no expert with these active steering or asm settings but would they not take away some off skill?

I would say so yes.. I still cant get over some of those pad times. It must be easier than it was in 5P...

I went from 1:19.3 to 1:18.7 fairly easily after putting TCS at 5 and active steering to strong. It definitly allows you to be a bit less accurate which is a shame really but its there for all to use.

asm would only slow you down I'd imagine, I havent seen anyone using that yet.

The adjustable sensitivity for the pad must make a big difference. There was nothing like that in prologue or the last academy TT.

When I click on someones name on the leader board on the GT site, active steering is OFF when you did a time with it set to ON:confused:

Apparently the site is buggy and doesn't tell much truths when it comes to assists..

I'll try get my name back up in the top 250 when I'm home during the week or at the weekend again. Wasn't too far off my mate nismo's rank at first but then the fecker found some speed!

Was in the top 200 Friday night and top 5 or 10 of the Paddy's. Haven't checked since but Id imagine I'm down around 500-1000 now, lol.

Btw... Nice E30 markyboy! :)

I just tried turning the sensitivity down to -2 and knocked more than 2 seconds off my time after 9 laps, so there's one more Irish flag up in the top 260:)👍
