6-5 1:05.291 whoo hoo 315th

I just cant fathom below a 1:05.000. of corse I didnt think I could pull off lower that 1:05.500 Either.
The last chicane is whats getting me. another hour or two and I should get it down. Im just not consistant enough. sometimes two wide and other times I cut it too hard and my ass end will break loose. Ive got the theory down . just need to put it to practice. Man I hope to see you guys in florida.

yeh top gear well needs sorting. kick the cheaters.

Yes, kick them out. We don't need people who cheat to get their way. But as they say, cheaters never prosper.

Just got a 25.756 on 6-2 which is good enough for 13th overall. Also I'm the fastest in the US :D
Also I got a 1:05.269 on 6-5 and a 13.116 on 5-4.

Congrats bro :D:tup:! If you're using a DS3 controller, I'll be shocked to witness a DS3 player in the national finals.

These new challenges are really easy, but I having a problem with the final test in the 5th round. I'm figuring out a path to a lower time by taking the final corner's apex, but the white R32 steals my line and hits me everytime. Any one have any solutions to a low time?

They used the DFGT last year and that wheel is also more obtainable to the general public due to it's low price point, so a majority of people will be using them during the time trial competition. They are also easier to replace if one happens to break while being used on any of Sony's 1,000's of gaming rigs they use to showcase the game.

Hmm, thats ****, but you could be right. never saw it from this point.
I was going to buy a t500rs... so, save the money and get the DFGT?

If you are confident you will be in the top 32 and need practice with that wheel, I don't see why not. Even then, it's a great wheel for the price and worth hanging on to.

Just don't use a T500 prior to getting the DFGT or you'll never be happy afterwords, trust me :)

I must say congratulations to some of you guys. You are really fast. I have been doing GT Academy for fun. I'm surprised that I got gold on all the challenges so far. I'm really slow and can barely gold the regular license tests on GT5.

Good luck to those who have been dreaming of this. I hope your dreams come true.

I was looking at another thread talking about Best controllers and one post made me think to ask this.

How are the top DS3 guys using there controllers , are they using the joysticks or the d-pad?
And has either been proven to be better ?

Most are using the joysticks....In the top 5000, only 18-20% of the DS3 guys are D-pad.If using the D-pad was better or easier than the joysticks....there would be more of them (in my opinion).:)

5-2 I'm a tenth or a hundredth away.....pisses me off, but not as much as touching a blade of grass and failing.

Stick for me. Doing pretty darn well. 1st in US in rounds 5 and 6 with DS3.

http://www.mygranturismo.net/rankings.php?online_id=SrRd-RacinG 5-3 is updating. I dropped .14

I am nervous, though. If I make the finals, I will be destroyed by experienced wheel users. But I'll go most likely, despite this.

:) + :(

Hammerhead = cheaters, big time. I got to 849th without using the cheat, and had no idea where I was losing time. I looked at a ghost, and figured since I've never made a leaderboard I'd treat myself (since I probably would have been very high without the cheaters!) to a spot. However, I got too tired and only got to 352, my highest score ever .

'cheaters' isn't the correct word. Exploiters maybe, but that doesn't take away the fact that they're still ridiculously fast. At the end of the day, the same dudes will be on top of the leaderboards with or without the exploit.

Good point. Either way, I'm still very, very surprised I almost broke into the 15's on that test. With a controller, no less. Little things like that (i.e. taking a picture of my cool new #352 ranking :D) keep me loving the game! I love TGTT, but I never knew I was that fast!

Please lord let Canada into the next GT Academy NA!!

Yes i live in the USA ten miles south of Canada and i don't get it it's for North America but yet only Americans can enter which imo is whack Canada should be able to enter and even if they have to compete with Americans i feel they still deserve a shot to compete. Personally i don't care for GT Academy i couldnt give up my life to race all over the world if i raced in the Trans am circuit here in the US i'd be fine but forget about traveling all over the world and not having time to spend with family i had enough of that in the military and as a kid my father worked for Bmw's touring car teams before moving to America. he was home maybe 2 months a year so i never seen him unless i got to go with him and being a father myself i couldn't do that threw my child's whole life. I've served two tours in Afghanistan consisting of 36 months total and thats two much you miss out on so much it's not fair to me or my children if i were single had no kids i'd be all over it but now it's to much to miss out on.

Anybody want to enlighten me on how to get the car to rotate going around the last left on Eiger (5-2)? I've tried about everything I can think of and it just puuuuushes for so long.

Not really Nissan or Sony's fault. It's not like they are just excluding them, we've been over this a million times. Certain countries have certain laws when it comes to competing in competitions like this, and Canada just happens to be one of them.

Believe me, Canada was on their list to include this year and for some reason it just didn't end up happening. I would assume due to legal reasons, yet again.

I'm sure it has to do with Quebec's laws regarding lottery and contest type events. I read something about taxes needing to be paid prior to the event and all kinds of nonsense like that. Contests in Ontario typically exclude Quebec in the fine print.

Do they provide transportation and lodgeing if you make it to florida?

Maybe for you it was lol, for me it cost about $500 come tax time  Doesn't matter though, was well worth it to go down there!

Though I have to again say thank you to Nissan for NOT sending us a 1099 for Silverstone, I may have had to declare bankruptcy.

Yeah, gotta pay the taxes.

That would suck so bad. Not being able to compeate this year cause you made it to the finals before.

This is something that I don't quite understand. It doesn't seem fair that last years finalists can't compete again. I would think that PD would let them. If you made it to Orlando last year and didn't make the cut for Silverstone, what's wrong with taking a year to practice for the next competition? It only seems fair. It's not like you'll have an advantage over anyone.

I actually figured it out and ran a good one, was really hoping I could get in the 2s though. Just something about that one I like.

Well, its now ten days until the final round. I'm going to pull out GT4 and begin practicing Motegi, which is about the only track that I haven't been able to find on any other sim or at least a decent mod of it.

forza 3 and 4 has motegi if you have an xbox, but then you may not have a wheel that works unless you own a fanatec (assuming you drive with a wheel in GT). I bought gt4 the other day to practice the gt version of motegi and my csr won't work with the ps2 so i'm still in kinda the same boat. And i don't wanna screw myself by switching back and forth between noticeably different physics. :grumpy:

So I guess gt4 won't work in a ps3? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

I googled it last week and found conflicting reports, I guess I could just pop it in and see what happens.

The older fat models were backwards compatible, new models have only PSONE compatibility.
