I would imagine that any time that shows up properly on the Global leaderboard will be acceptable, even if it doesn't show on the national leaderboard.

The problem is that neither the regional or the global are showing my correct time, nut yet my home screen is showing it...

^^That time was showing on the global leaderboard last night when I was done for the night.

I'm sure if it came down to it, you could prove that you had a faster time than what the regional board shows.

Thats why I've been saving my ghost laps, I always have visual proof of my time.

Same, it seems to be fixed now, fixed in the sense that faster laps go up to both leaderboards. So unfortunately, to get your spots back on the national leaderboard, you have to beat your old time. :grumpy:

I have a few questions. At Motegi, approaching the first corner after the start/finish line, where do you guys begin braking? Watching the replays, it looks like the fast guys start braking just before the 100m sign; however, when I try braking at the same point, I don't have any chance of slowing enough for the corner, even with trail braking.

In the first GT Academy, it was widely known that the replay data was screwy. Is it more of the same in GT Academy 2012?

Just got down to the 32.9s again, still slower but it supposedly registered. Still showing the time from last night on my home screen.

You have to account for some lag in the replay. All braking/throttle appears to be happening slightly later than it really is. I haven't watched any replays or downloaded ghosts for 8-5, so I guess they could know something I don't, but as far as a mere mortal goes I brake right after the 200m.

i hit the brakes hard at about 120m, just before the 100m sign and then start turning in while you're braking, you have to do it just right, also take the first corner in 3rd you can get on the gas sooner

That was my same issue as well. It won't matter much, though; I'd say you'll need to get a sub-1:30.xxx lap to be anywhere close to the final top 32. Hopefully these issues get resolved before anyone starts setting those times.

I'll believe the sub-1:30 claims when I see them, but really there's only so much time on a track. Sub 1:31, sure, but sub 1:30 I say no way.

No way, the cut off will be mid 31s with the super talented dipping into the 130s. I just don't see 29s happening. I've been wrong before though.

I agree, this track isnt very technical so most people have figured out nearly the fastest way around already. Sub 1:31 I think is very likely, sub 1:30 would probably mean someone found another place to mow the lawn haha

I hate to be the broken record, but I agree. Mid 131's will likely be the cut-off times.

My second thought is it's a shame that there exists this time glitch. Last year, it was the blatant grass cutting and this year, unfortunately, we have uncertain servers that could compromise lap times.

It's still early, but it's clearly an inconvenience.

Its a video game, and there will always be something in question with these times. When we were starting out with the beta for iRacing I remember we had tons of talk of lag effecting lap times etc, but iRacing for the most part denied the claims saying the server sees the perfect picture all the time, however the perfect picture isnt always displayed for us to see.

Yeah i agree maybe a 130.9 tops but either way i believe 131.5 or .6 will be cut off for top 32 imo.

I figured that would get some of you stirred up. :D I don't want it to be true, either, but after what I witnessed in the final stages of the competition last year, my respect for the capabilities of true "alien" drivers has increased tenfold...and this year they've got twice as much time...

I personally dont think the lap times are compromised. Now when you download someones ghost it might not be dead on at all times but whatever lag back it might have im sure it makes up for it sometime in the lap. Just my opinion. Im only 3 tenths of fastest time is US and i know i have another tenth or two in me at least, so i wouldnt call them alien drivers lmao. :sly:

It's just frustrating to have your efforts taken away like that, and yeah I think by the end of this thing times will be far out of my reach, expecting top dog to be on the 30.8s...
This is the first TT in wich I've decided to dedicate a serious effort, my ultimate goal is to brea into the 31s no mater if it is a 31.999 and where it places me, I'll be happy with that!
Just got down to 29.703 <==== EDIT: Lies!! 32.703 wich has supposedly registered, hope it doesn't get "missplaced" again!

29.703???? :nervous:

I just watched Mavericks replay, the idea of shifting up to third in the middle of the turn just is foreign to me, I don't understand why bogging from 3k rpms is faster than using all of second then shifting up to third. I guess it helps control the wheel spin and takes out shift time.

Yeah, I noticed the times aren't loading on the website now; I suspect the servers really struggle during "prime time", or late evening here in the United States. It might be best to avoid setting laps during this time window, if possible, to ensure that your laps do get registered.

Congrats if you really did set a 29.703!

Lol! Yeah! We never know! Who know's what it will say tomorrow!
I just saw Turbo had set a 32.1xx but eventhough it's showing on my home screen it's still not showing on the globals.

Yeah I watched a guy from the top 10 earlier and noticed in many corners he was going down to second, taking the corner then shifting to third pretty much on the apex. Very weird way to drive but it seems to work, I improved by nearly a second.

So is the sim racing world I guess, there are always oddball ways to be faster, bogging at low rpms out of the corner is just...yeah, foreign, I guess it works though.
