Great job Benny! I just posted a 1:31.395 ... I was just about to get up and take a break and then all of a sudden the lap just never fell apart. I'm gonna take a break for a while. I hope that anything under 31.400 is safe. Don't know how much more I have in me. Great job to all the racers in the 31.1 - 31.2 range. You are freaks!

Good job Bennen and Daryl. I need to get on the ball myself. I'm getting very nervous with my time. I can be 2 or 3 tenths up on my .4 consistanly through the first half almost every time now but still have a hard time with the back half. I have improved everyday though since my initial .477. I've only improved to a .464 though lol. I guess its only a matter of time before I string a complete lap together I just hope I can do it in time.

You've got my support man! 👍

I just messed up what could have been a high 1:31...I panicked towards the last half lol

Oh well, gonna keep trying. :dopey:

Thanks. Good luck to you also. Hope you achieve your goals also.

I've decided to stay out of my attempts for the top 32. Only thing to prove is that I can do it, won't change anything. And next year even if I'm eligible again I probably will be too busy to even care about it.

Good luck to everyone.

I wish I had taken the last turn wide before my fastest lap. I'm chilling at 1:31.900 at the moment, but I'm about 0.4 ahead of my ghost after the first turn :X

Just gotta keep it together.

You ever see that episode of Deadliest Catch where the greenhorn deckhand goes up to the wheelhouse and tells the captain that he no longer can continue because he has reached his mental breaking point? Well, thats me right now, lol. Just seems like I'm getting worse instead of better. Think I need to just take a break for a few days or something. I'm not even consistant anymore. I can't even stay on the damn track, lol.

I myself have not ran any laps on gta in over 2 days and have now dropped to 8th in US. Starting to think i might need to run some more laps just in case my time is not good enough.

1'34.884, fastest lap from me. Thats all I'm going to be able to do as no matter what I try, I gain no advantage whatsoever.

watch this video. I'm sure it will help. It's 45 min long, but a better description of how to run this track, you won't quickly find. I was consistantly running in the 1:35's, with a few 34's thrown in. My best time was 1:33.75.

After watching this vid, and two hours of practice, and I ran a 1.33.3. I've since gotten to 1.33.077, after about 6 hours and running with lots of 33's consistantly. I'm just a few laps from a 32, I'm sure.

Funny that I just came across this after hitting a 1'33.666. I'm watching it now though, thanks for showing me 👍

my best is 1.33.3 cant get that last corner right but feel its coming have not watched to many vids yet but what i have hopefully i learnt something.i run now with tc2 abs 3 so well happy with that time, ive been running has high has tc7 + 8 and abs 7+ cant believe how the car feels with tc on 2 and tc on say 6 or 7 the rear end is like a fish tail the same

R1600, were any assists allowed at the national finals? Im thinking that turning on the braking line would really help with driving on an unfamiliar track. What about active steering? ABS? Also, after you were eliminated at Silverstone were you allowed to stay for the duration of the competition? If so, did Nissan still cover the food and lodging and everything?

i'm stuck at a 1:31.8 thinking of just throwing in the towel, i can get through the S's faster than the top times on occasion, but there's too many corners through the second half that will either make or break everything, i don't know if i have the patience to find that magic lap.

I'm guessing the line will be disallowed. I don't know 75% of the tracks in gt myself. I need to worry about getting a good time on this track first though.

ABS at 1, everything else OFF. You're not allowed to touch anything except the driving view.

Everything is covered by Sony/Nissan that has to do with the competition. Some food and anything you do off their time is not. You will be responsible for the taxes though.

Hey thanks for the reply. Thats good to know.

What I meant to ask is, as people were eliminated from the show they were seen packing their things and apparently leaving the facility, were they allowed back on the premises to watch the rest of the competition? Or did Sony/Nissan buy them a plane ticket home the next day?

Wish i knew how all this is gonna work if i make it to florida. Kind of nerve racking waiting to see.

Wow, this is as competitive as advertised. I just had a run today because I was on vacation last week. Got into the 31.8s, all I've got to say is the top guys are running some blazing times. NICE JOB to you guys!!!

The car is pretty goofy, I don't think I've figured it out yet. I just can't seem to get any consistency in rotating the thing. That second to last corner gets me EVERY time. It's my nemesis for sure.

Well, looks like I've got a few days to find half a second.

Good luck to everyone.

On a random note, they are building a baseball stadium right next to my apartment, with the field 16 feet below ground. They are blasting the rock and it shakes the whole apartment, scares the **** out of me every time.....

Just rewatched each GT Academy NA episode... good God I am not ready for this. If I do make it, I think I would either be eliminated early on... or end up like Andre Gomez and just get it. I have not driven a manual in years.

In other news, screw you blue cones.

I'm starting to get anxious. I have a 1:31.379, I've fallen from 14th to 19th in 24 hours, and last year, I fell from 6th to 13th in the last 3 hours. And I keep running high .3s at best. But to top it all off, my ps3 is starting to shut off at complete random. At this rate, I'm def not making it to finals :nervous:

That's how I felt last week, then came here and you guys gave me some encouragement to keep trying.

I suggest you take a day off, it helped me improve my times which I found strange lol

So, take a day or two off and I'm sure you're times will improve. 👍

Anyway, I'm having a hard time breaking into the 1:31's and it's so frustrating knowing you could do it but have a hard time executing a good lap. :ouch:

Depending on how far you would make it, you'll only drive 2 cars with a manual trans.

Just a quick question on the finals R1600Turbo, do they give manual driving coach for finalists who have never driven manual competitively, for example heel and toe while hard braking, steering wheel handling etc. Or they just put everyone into trials and see who can drive better, I thought about this as most friends I knew who are good at sims, when they drive in real life with manual ... the results were very vary, most are rough handler with heel and toe.

This might be a good chance to prepare - polish up the manual driving skills for all the finalists this year.
