I know that feel. I screwed up a 1:31 lap time twice, lol.

I'm probably not going to make it in the top 32 at this point, unfortunately, but will keep trying to the end to get a 1:31 lap time.

...San Diego? that's a 2 hour drive from where I live, damn, would've been great to compete with some of you. :dopey:

Hopefully next year (assuming there will be a GTA next year), I'll have bettered my GT skills and be able to keep up with the top guys. 👍

You giving up? It's just getting interesting. Find that positive attitude again. :)

I read about that freeze before, yeah it happens to me too. You think you nail a good one and ... not quite as good as you thought. I believe it is well documented.

Just catching up through the last couple of pages:

I personally can't stand the ghost, and would turn it off completely if I could (I really should unmap the button from under my thumb so I can't check it at all). I turn it off as soon as I can, and have the course map disabled. I usually check my gap to my ghost after turn 5, but after that I try not too unless I want to see if the line I took through a particular corner made or lost time. I was sitting on a .4xx ghost when I did my time and although I was tempted many times, I didn't check my ghost until after the last turn. When I saw how far back it was I was amazed!

In response to the game freezing at the S/F line issue, I would think that if there is a delay, it would apply to both the beginning and end of the lap, so it's a wash. FWIW, I have seen the freeze happen in GT5 at times, so I know what it looks like, but I haven't seen it all in GTA 2012.

Two car lengths is a lot of time. You'll get there. 👍
Think I know where it is too. It's that dumb two corner combo after the first overpass. I've been coasting the car through there, but I found out that I can faster through the first turn, brake, and get the car to cut left going up the hill. The big problem is the last part. Seems like it's more like random chance on whether the car will stick or wash right. :grumpy:

Down to a .656, but given that lap I screwed up, I can get below .5 if I really try.

Another note. Maybe it's just happening to me, but when I upshift from 2nd, sometimes, it goes to 4th.

Happens to me a lot, it's my wheel (Fanatec GT3). As much as I love it, the paddle shifters suck, and my upshift paddle often misses or double shifts.

I have that problem with my DFP, the button sticks on upshifts, so i can go from 2nd to 5th on a single press. I've had to rely on the shifter which has been giving my left arm a workout on the wheel.

Interesting... I wonder why it happens to some people but not others?

I briefly had my PS3 wired straight to my router and I noticed the apparent delay was slightly less (0.018s instead of 0.027s). I also noticed that it isn't always 0.027s. Sometimes the delay is slightly greater and sometimes slightly less. Very, very rarely is there no delay at all. I'm beginning to get slightly suspicious...

I would dig into it further if it wasn't so close to the end of the competition. I'm just going to focus on driving and hope like hell I'm not 0.027s behind 32nd at the end.

FWIW I have a GT3 V2 and it never double shifts.
I'm using the clubsport paddles btw, not the buttons.

Could be the case, but then again, it only does it from 2nd gear when I'm approaching redline. It doesn't happen with any other car in GT Academy nor in GT5.

Yeah yeah its getting to crunch time now. Gonna sit on my time till tomorrow and hope i can better, we will see if not i know i gave it my all.

I'm settling in for some laps now, so screw sleep , but if I can't improve tonight that's probably it.

Ohhh finally got into the .1's with a .187! i know it's nothing spectacular, but I finally improved my time :D Of course, go figure, it moves me up one spot :grumpy:

Err where do I check the stats from?

what sort of stats? the times are on the leaderboard on the gt academy section of the gt website. the retrys and total individual mileages are on your ps3. go to your game save data and hover over the file for gt academy.

Wow.. Last chance for me as my wife's family comes to town early tomorrow morning and are staying through the weekend.

.14 off my best sector 1, but I had an unreal sectors 2 and 3. 1'31.051.

Good luck to all those still running. Keep the motivation. I was able to run my bast lap at the very end.. There's no reason that you guys still running can't nail it too.

Grats on the time! im starting to feel more and more insecure about my .148 as the days go by. Especially now that im nowhere near my home to set a quicker lap :nervous:
Im going to be compulsively checking the leaderboards on my cellphone till the timetrials end lol

Thanks Redline! I would be very, very surprised if the cutoff is any lower than a mid to low .2. I know what you are feeling though.. I was on a .167, and I kept running.

99.99% sure I will see you here in San Diego. Cheers mate.

Ahha... I finally figured out what causes the momentary freezing when crossing the start/finish line every time - It's all the replays you've saved over the course of the competition. I deleted about 20 replays and immediately, the freezing is completely gone.

I know of at least 1 maybe 2 if let canada in is really from canada, but i think 8is pushing it. I think that was just the easiest way for them to take a screen cap.
I know that let _Canada_ in is from Canada, and z06fun went to Silverstone last year. So that would make only 2 people ineligible in the top 32.
