Doubt it. My question, which will tick some people off, but why are controllers even allowed? Not like you drive a car with a controller

That would be the worst idea ever to do such a thing. At one point semi-finalists go to a convention of some sort (Not sure what to call it) and there they will use wheels. I'd imagine anyone who gets that far would obviously know how to drive a car (Possibly even race a car) by then.

The Nurburgring portion with the Silvia was the funnest one. You had to pass people. Thing is- watching the replays of the top guys they're driving with two wheels on the curbs and the other two in the grass. The way they get past the red car is particularly challenging. You have to time it just right or else you lose around a second by being stuck behind him for a pass.

It will tick some people off because it's a stupid question. Wheels are expensive, PD don't want to exclude anyone from the competition.

A couple people made it to the national finals last year using a controller. Problem with that is, at the national finals you HAVE to use a wheel.

I heard that you made it to the finals with a ds3. Is that true? If it is, no one should be excluded.

R1600 used a wheel. I think only one person actually made it with a DS3. Check the articles on the last season.

Maybe. The guy who made it last year after using a pad was eliminated fairly quickly.

Well if you can't do the same time with a wheel then you shouldn't expect to win. If I actually believed that I could win, I would buy a DFGT to practice with.

How many weeks notice would someone have that they made the final? There's probably something like a 2 week learning curve from ds3 to the wheel. For me it was. On a positive note, the DFGT can be often found on sale for 99 bucks.

Pretty sure most good enough to make it to the nats with a pad can use a wheel well enough.

No way, the muscle memory is entirely different. Even changing wheel to wheel feels funky and will cause poorer lap times.

Yup. Depending on how fast you take the first couple of corners you either pass the red car on the inside or outside. Either way using grass and or a bit of curb is unavoidable. Stupid red car - I hit it many times ;0. I do agree though, best event so far.

I'm not saying there aren't good pad drivers that can't use a wheel, I'm saying there are very few now adays, way back when was a different story. Most of the guys I know are pretty damn fast, some where on pad forever and some on wheel, everyone's on a wheel now, and as has been said, the time to learn one is short for a good gt player.

Found this while on Google, thought it looked pretty neat. Disclaimer: I did not make this.

Did you get the cars that appaears in GTA doing Gold in all the 2 rounds? To me it appears but don´t appear on GT5 :S

No one has them, and no one knows why. Please do a little peek around the forum before asking questions.

I can't believe how exited some people get for a Leaf! Come on guys! Really a Nissan Leaf?

It's funny, as per usual people were complaining about GT Academy and the Leaf and the fact it would contain even more Nissans, but now all of a sudden, since you can obtain them for free , people are going crazy for them..

All the cars (at least the first two) should be no different than the cars we already have in the game, save for the GT Academy logos on the doors/hood.

what is it with people that go off track to get better times.....am I supposed to do the same so I can stay competitive or should I just consider this a lost cause since I like to keep all wheels on track? Will those that get top times with 3 wheels off track get disqualified or is this how they battle it out once they get to the finals....just ridiculous

Came here to find out how to redeem prize cars, left smiling remembering how much flack U.S. GT Academy participants took for cutting corners when the whole world is doing it now they have a chance.

Anyways, I'm enjoying the license test type challenges once again. I'm really glad they decided to do it this way.
