Advantage No. 1 for wheel users without using the clutch but using the H-shifter / sequential shifter (compared to a pad):

(shifting goes 2nd - Neutral - 3rd)
Revalations do NOT drop inbetween shifting.
Next gear switches in at likely higher RPM.
Shifting time is less.
This is not true, neutral is only accessible if you're using the clutch. Otherwise the H-box behaves just like paddles - no neutral inbetween gears.

If Chronos doesn't mind, I thought I'd post up the current times (possibly since I finally got into the top 20 :dopey: ):

I could improve on my time a lot, I was on for what I would predict to be a 1'21.2xx or .3xx, I have a video to show you guys of why the G25 is a harsh mistress once i can get it onto youtube.

I still can't get over the fact that Portugal isn't elegible for this competition. I'd really like to know why.

Bastards. :grumpy:

Damn! I'm dropping like a lead balloon everytime I look at the Leaderboard :P best get some more laps in :)

Some great times being posted on all the boards

Things seem to be warming up nicely! Haven't had a chance to play this weekend but the weather outside has been great. Might get half an hour or so later tonight. Sphinx - that's a great time with the DFP. I might have found a way to mount my gear lever but it might be a bit shaky so I'm not confident. Looks like the time is fast approaching to get the clutch thing going as don't think sub 1:21 is happening without it.

Here is my current UK & Eire lap of 1'21.108 (DFP) for anyone who wants to view it. 👍

I haven't been keeping up with whats been going on, so I'm just going to ask my question.

Are any of our guys at the top of the list to make it in?

The poeple in the top 20 when the tournemant ends will go into the next round.

34,047
57,859
1.20,899

I've just been comparing your splits for your 1'20.899 run so I can see where I'm losing time. It's now obvious where I need to improve:

34.284 - 34.047 +237

58.085 - 57.859 +226

81.108 - 80.899 +209

All my time is being lost before T1, a massive .237!! in fact. 👍 I actually manage to pull a huge .028 ;) back before the finish line.

I must say, that's a fantastic T1 you have there. 👍

Here's a little video about the lap I mentioned above, I was following Andy_616's awesome time (the ghost doesn't show up in replay sadly) and was only about a car length (2 tenths at most) behind him coming into the tunnel. Closest I have ever been to him at this point and I slightly mistimed my clutch for the upshift (I think, though I may have not put it fully in the notch and it jumped out).

Started learning heel-toeing this afternoon, only had about 4 hours practice with it, but it does help, even if it's tiring (was certainly working up a sweat).

Let me know what you guys think, first GT video I've made :)

Edit: Jesus, that is a quick T1! My best for T1 so far is 34.555. I lost half a second there :scared:

Bastards. :grumpy:

I don't like this either, even though I couldn't participate due to being slightly underaged. Could it be because Sony Portugal wouldn't organize a national final?

Probably. They're a bunch of lazy bastards anyway. Took them over 2 months to replace my PS3 after it broke...

What are the restrictions on the car for this competition anyone know? I can't compete because I am in the US but that doesn't mean I can't have fun and compare my time to yours :)

Norway top 5 times

4. ishorts 1'22.490

Here's a little video about the lap I mentioned

Nice vid 👍 I think I'll definitely get a wheel, it's amazing how much smoother it's possible to be with wheel and pedals. Originally our times were quite close but you've moved well ahead now, my times with a pad aren't gonna get much quicker.

Yeah, your time with the pad was amazing, I can't drive rwd cars at all with a 6-axis without TC on, lol. Look forward to seeing you with a wheel :)

I noticed a lot of pedal noise throughout the video. Is it just the audio making it loud, or is that normal?

I was trying to get the sound of the engine in, which meant putting the volume up a lot, that's why the pedals sound so loud.

I was aiming for a top 10 so naturally I got 11th.. Still happy with that since I don't know how much I'll be playing over the next couple of weeks (uni exams 👎 ) .

Edit: Just had a thought, I was going to register a new PSN name with the GTP prefix, if I did this would my first name/time still appear on it? I don't want to be clogging up a top 20 with multiple PSNs - as well as the fact it probably won't be looked nicely upon by the organisers.

Disagree completely. I reckon with practice a 1.21.xxx is within reach of the pad.

Do it. And upload the replay for us.

Dont get me wrong, I wish we ALL could be COMPETITIVE by using the pad.
But its not competitive ! And this is because PD did not take into account that by using a different controller device (a wheel and clutch and shifter) will give their users an advantage.

The advantage isnt big, but for a competition like this it simply results in a
NOGO for pad users.

1.21 is possible with the pad after a lot of practise

Is 750 laps a lot of practice ?
I did them.

1.22.6xx

Yeah that was loud, no they are not normally like that.

Here is my current UK & Eire lap of 1'21.108 (DFP) for anyone who wants to view it. 👍

Ok so I downloaded your video, and loaded it to my ps3, but I don't see it in the list of replays in GT5:P. :guilty: Why is this? Is it because I have the US DL version that I cant see it?

I improved my time with the DFP :)
34,047

Regular 6th in Germany, the new toptime is a 1.20,399:bowdown:

 T1 is most likely to be perfect (with DFP). :) 👍

Great DFP time. 👍

It prompted me to jump back in car and run again, and have now moved back up a couple of places to 2nd place (UK & Eire) with 2'21.108 (DFP) 👍

Nice time!!! 👍 You think you´re going to go under ´21?

I'm sorry, I have no idea why you can't see it. Perhaps someone else can help?

I agree. 👍

Yes, I hope so. A sub 1'21 has been my target right from the start:

A very high 1'20 is my max target, but as yet, I have no idea where that time will come from. I can clearly see a 1'21.5 though.
