Really, all I want is the ability to RM the majority of the cars, or at least only the premiums, not just 17 of them. I actually think GT1 and GT2 have better customization than GT5 because nearly every car in those games could be transformed into their race car counterpart. I doubt something like this can be patched in GT5, but I think it could be quite possible for GT6.

LOL... it's not a Car Show game. It's a Racing Game.

It's actually not a racing game, it's a driving simulator that features circuit and road course racing.

Saying it's a racing game is like saying it's a drifting game. You drift in the game, but that's not what the game is.

As per the GT5 box:

"returns to redefine the racing genre..."

"take your place in the racing community..."

"Race over 1000 cars"

"become a racing driver..."

"Exciting 16 player online races..."

"challenge them to race..."

"Driving simulator" on the other hand is only mentioned once.

So I think we can safely conclude that GT5 is a racing game.

It never actually says "Racing Game" though, and it also says "Customize, race,..." so it wouldn't be limiting its own ability by adding features to customize more.

So if a box of cornflakes only has 'cornflakes' written once on the front and mentions different types of sugar a few times in the ingredient list it becomes a box of sugar?
The phrase 'driving simulator' has always been the main definition PD chose to market GT as racing usually consists of driving yet you can also just drive without racing.
Ofcourse it's all marketing gibberish, ofcourse they say you can race cars, be a race driver, etc. as that's what the vast majority want to do (me too but I also like to just drive nice cars casually and in GT5 I can do that).

No, it just heavily implies it...

Come on, GT5 is a racing game, pure and simple. It's just not even up for debate. There's nowhere to "drive" to. No open world to explore. The minute GT ditches the AI, championships, races and race tracks, and replaces them with an open world to drive about in, then GT will be a driving game.

Of course GT is a driving game in the sense that you, durr, go driving, but it is not a driving game. To progress in the game you need to race; to level up you need to race; you earn credits you need to race; to get more cars you need to race.

It's a racing game.

It's not all about racing because you can have drifting competitions aswell. Why not have lots of customization? You can still race them while looking cool at the same time.
