GT1 could actually be a NSX, but I'm still saying Camaro.

I think that GT1 cover is an NSX or possibly a Fiat Coupe.

What about the PAL GT1? - It was just a tyre tread so I'd like to see someone get the car from that!

It really can't be an NSX. An NSX is much lower and the back-end is longer.
The hood is also shorter.

And the Camaro... To round in my opinion.

it really is a R32/R33/R34 GT-R!

Check the NSX (I'll add the rest later):

I dont think the R34 was out back then........
yeah, I figured that too...

It's more likely a R32... which I have a nice pic of somewhere... but it's too big....

let me check...

To me it looks like a Skyline R34 GT-R on GT1. Makes the most sence to me, knowing the creator of GT is an avid GT-R fan. And what would you put on the cover of a (by origin) Japanese game: an American car or a Japanese one? :dopey:

The car headlight shown on the GT3 cover is a upside down Porsche 996 headlight. Or in GT's case: a RUF.

The engine shot is beyond me though... :odd: :boggled:
and the other shot can't be viewed...

Man that is EXACTLY what i was goin to post.

Maybe not an NSX but no way is that an R34 - whatever it is - it looks like a heap of ****.

I am now thinking Corvette of some sort...

my guess for gt1 is a mitsu FTO GR or GP version R

possibly the mitsu GTO (3000GT) '95 model which is the one before it got the huge spoiler on it

Yes, it most certainly did. My uncle has a C4 ZR-1 and, oh boy, does that thing fly. It won't hold a candle to the new C6 Z06 however.

Menu for one of the discs?

Do we have the same uncle? My uncle's is a '91 ZR-1, ruby red metallic. Fastest car I've ever driven.

He told me to hold tight onto the steering wheel, accelerate to 80, put it into 3rd gear and mash the gas.

Smoke poured out from the rear wheel wells until we accelerated past 100. Absolutely amazing. Also absolutely scary.

and absolutely useless round any sort of corner........ ;)

still cant beleive they put all that work into the new Vette, but left the leaf springs in.... DOH! :)

Nope. My uncle's 1995 ZR-1 is black on black. Simply amazing.

Back on topic:

GT1 is definately NOT an R34 Skyline. GT1 came out in 1998. The R34 wasn't even announced until 1999. I'm also starting to believe it is not a Corvette or a Camaro for the reason someone stated earlier that went something to the effect of, "why would PD an American car on a Japanese game before they really cared about the US."

So we have an NSX (trust McLaren on this one - he owns one), a '95 Mitsubishi GTO, and just to add some fuel to the fire, how about an RX-7?

Seems to match up pretty nicely if you ask me.

Not very sure about the FTO:

And the NSX is just not possible... Just look at the contour of the boddy... the cockpit is much more forward... They needed to have room for the engine, you know... :dopey:

Check the NSX pic I posted earlier...

Yeah I don't believe it is an FTO. It just doesn't have the right body lines.

could it be possible that different versions have different covers? Would Japan have different cover than Europe and different from US? I know GT4 have the same cover everywhere but what about the earlier renditions?

I don't have the first three anymore so I can't really say, but I would not know what Europe's or Japan's cover looked like since I never had those....

just a thought

Cardboard boxes smashed into some car shape and oil drums for the wheels. Throw on a silver sheet and viola spark questions for the next decade and beyond. :dopey:

Just to make sure y'all understand the 993/6 thing on the PAL GT3 cover:

This is a 996:

porsche_996.jpg

and a 993, the older version:

Unless, of course, I have got something wrong lol :dunce:

Please excuse my crappy Photoshop skills, but here's my contribution:

I don't think it's an NSX:

I don't think it's an R32:

I don't think it's a C4:

and I don't think it's a Camaro (but it's probably the closest):

Well judging by GT's track record, they usually put fairly new cars on their covers, so i'm going to make the assumption that the car pictured will either be a 96' or 97' car.

And the only 2 cars that are pretty well defined by that shape are the Camaro Z28, and the Aston Martin DB7 coupe

So...yeah

I emailed SCEA earlier today, I'm waiting for their reply.

fingers crossed they know, or can figure it out.

Uh, no they didn't. The NSX is a MR car. Moving the cockpit forward would actually leave more room for the engine.

I do think its close to a NSX, but I think the NSX is the better choice.

BTW jrudd, photoshop a '98 model on to it.
What you got is a 1990-1993 model.

Naw, I think the DB7's hood is a little too long for it.

Well it's a car with a angular rear quarter panel, and it's got a overhang from the rear bumper...Since the Maro doesn't have a angular rear that is out of the question.....The vette doesn't have overhang so that's out......As for the 98 NSX, since the game was from 96, do you really think they had that much of a heads up as to the new NSX body styling?

The '98 body was actually changed a bit from the 1990-1993 model he photoshopped.

I know the body was different, i'm just saying how would PD know the body so many years in advance. Do you really think THEY got the heads up on the new body style so early?

This is a '97. Everything looks perfect except the rear is too long.

I don't think it's a DB7 or an FTO. Any others I should try?

definately not nsx, body proportion is all wrong. the rear glass ends in the middle of the rear wheel. the pic has the c pillar ending towards the end of the rear arch

r32 possibly but not gtr grade due to wing size
heck it can even be a s13

r33 has a smoothe flowing c pilar so not that

r34 wasnt even released when gt1 came out so nope.

not vette or camaro either, car in pic has subtle but noticeable wing over the flat rear deck

fto is darn close but the trunk has an incline

im thinking itll have to be a car in gt1 so judging the the size of wheel archs relative to overall shape, the sharp angle fo the c pillar, and the green house ending near the end of wheel arch

see my disection of the cover

close up of original is here

my guess would be corolla levin BZG or sprinter trueno BZG. it even has the slightly sloping character line above the rear wheel arch extending towards the doors. matches the wing and c pillar.
