will u guys get over it. its an NSX like ive said twice before.
http://www.theautochannel.com/media/photos/acura/96_acura_nsx_t_1.jpg
i already pointed out the side scoops. u can see the door one and the lower one. rear window, everything matches. throw out the skyline theories. show me a skyline with scoops on the doors like that and a rear wing like that. why does everyone doubt that its an NSX. my little cousin could look at it for 30 seconds and see that its an nsx. u guys are making this way more complicated than it needs to be. think about it, this is GT1. why would a sprinter treuno and this other stuff be on the cover. the nsx was the top handling car in the world back then and still holds its own. even if u dont think its an nsx (japan's supercar) u cant possibly believe its some little known car. that'd be like putting a SEAT on the cover of GT4. sure it was a suprise to see put in the game but not worthy of a cover. very few cars are "cover eligible" in my opinion and most of the cars u guys are naming dont even come close. also remember, this game made skylines famous...no one cared about them prior to this game but i think ive already shown that its not a skyline. lets stop discussing, its an nsx.

The GT3 cover would be a RUF RGT, because it is the one based on the newer, water-cooled 996. The CTR is based on the older, air cooled one with just the round, bug-eyed headlights.

RUF CTR

RUF RGT

I heard somebody say once that the PAL GT2 cover was an engine cover of a Jag XJ220, but I can't find any pictures to confirm it.

--EDIT--

Looking through the manual, the credits say 'Cover art courtesy of Aston Martin'.
Going off that, I went and had a look at some pics of that, and the closest I could find was the Martek V12 used in either the DB7 Vantage V12, or the Vanquish V12.

Here's a picture to compare. Note the side of the intake manifold. So far, it's the closest I've come. The V8 doesn't have any sort of manifold that resembles this, and I'm having trouble finding decent pictures of their 6 cylinder.

nah, no its not

the front nose rides higher in the gt1 cover. the wing is also not flush with body and the angle of rear end of the wing is too diagonal to be a nsx. so thats takes the camaro off the list too. plus you can see the feint character-line (C-line for you trans. design majors) in the doors, not a side scoop. plus the curvature of the roof is off. yep, def not nsx. and the last levin/trueno BZG/R is still respected in japan altho going FF two generations earlier. the 4age had 160hp for 1.6 liters and supercharged versions had around 190hp by the time it went out of production in 98. so its not some random little known car. if anyone has a profile shot pm me and ill ghost it over. the gt4 version has a BZR, different aero wing.

lol, is anyone even going to bother replying to this duffes? :dunce:

*edit* Thanks Z32... 👍

The pic posted of the GT1 cover with the NSX pasted over it, showed that the overhang is too big, so it's already been proven it's not an NSX... 💡

Like I said before: The creator of GT is a big Skyline fan, so I'm still rooting for the R32 GT-R...
Look at the pics Z32 posted... Proof enough for me...

So let's stop discussing: it's an R32!!! :dopey:

And Z32, don't you agree that Levin looks like a smaller version of the R32?
I also think the Levin has a too short rear overhang...

Its not a R33 Skyline. There's a spoiler on the cover car, and its smaller than the R33's.

u guys cant see the side scoops thru the cover? there's two of them right under the side mirror. please explain how these are not side scoops. and the picture i showed earlier was a 96 nsx. whoever pasted the other nsx in the photoshopped picture put in quite an old nsx from the looks of it (it was very small). from what i see, it could still be a 96-98nsx. i dont see how anyone thinks its any nissan. the only other car i can think of with that kind of a rear end and small wing would be the alcyone or svx as its called here because at first glance, the car that came to mind was an early 90's eclipse but it obviously isnt that.

all nsxs use the same body shell. only visual difference is a slightly modified front air duct for 97 -01 which is almost unnoticeable to normal people

90-01 are indistinguishable from profile alone (minus rims and paint scheme of course)

02 and up with facelift, well we all know how does look like

if it is a r32, itll have to be a gts grade due to size of spoiler 👍
also the crease in the rear quarter panel is also another r32 hint
doesnt look like the levin can make a crease like that now that i think about it. also cus the levins' line is too far above the wheel arch :indiff:

Just to make sure y'all understand the 993/6 thing on the PAL GT3 cover:

This is a 996:

http://www.allenmotorsports.com/images/cars/porsche_996.jpg

and a 993, the older version:

http://www.ambassadorautosales.com/6834 1999 PORSCHE 996 PASS ANGLE.jpg

Unless, of course, I have got something wrong lol :dunce:

You have got something wrong. :P The top one is a post-2000 facelifted 996, and the bottom is an original 996. The 993 is the one that the RUF CTR2 is based on, this:

The cover of gt1 to me looks like a nissan 300zx because it has that hatch look to it and by hte look of the hood on the cover it also looks like a 300zx because the hoods on those were long......thats just what i saw but who knows what could be under there.

300zx is a better guess than most here but the rear wing on a z32 wrapped around the back. also, remember that the z was a hatchback and i really dont think the covered car looks like a hatch. u never know tho. i still say nsx all the way till i see some better guesses.

ukoldschool
The 300zx (fairlady or Z32) was available as both long and short wheelbase........

SWB: http://www.japcity.com/DSC05811.jpg

LWB: http://www.japcity.com/DSC05554.JPG

Cool; I never knew that there was a short based version, and it looks awesome! Not in Europe, though... only the long base...

Btw, I'm not so sure anymore about the R32: most of all because of the rear wing and the way the back arches up a bit... The R32 is a bit too low for that I guess... The R34 has a higher arching back, but that car didn't exist then...

So right now I'm fresh out of ideas.

I only know we can dismiss the following cars:

NSX
Camaro
R32/33
Levin
Mitsu GTO

Any new idea's?

The GT2 (NTSC) I think is a McLaren F1.

That's definitely what it is. The tach even says F1 on it.

Also, word is that Kaz actually owns each car that has been on the GT covers. If GT2's is a McLaren, I wonder why they put that on the cover, when it's not even in the game.

I seriously doubt KY owns an F1. What were there, 64 total made, none of which were sold much under $1 mil?

Here's a guy in Germany selling one for 1,450,000 euros which is currently US $1,869,469.83

when was the nsx dismissed. as soon as someone can explain the obvious side scoops its still the best i guess i think. in my opinion, there's a 99% chance that its an nsx. everything pretty much matches, and its japan's "supercar". if u guys are going to make a guess, the car kinda has to have side scoops or some explanation of the two indentations under the side mirror. and anyone that doesnt own the game shouldnt guess because the pic of it on here isnt very good. looking at it in person up close shows quite a bit more. someone prove that its not an NSX without some cheap overlay in some editing program cuz ur not scaling it properly.

I don't know, I'm going to go off of the pictures rather then opinion. I doubt it's a NSX, it looks like a mid 90 Camaro to me, but since that was dismissed and not even logical I don't know. The 300ZX looks close.

Because no one would read it if it was in the GT1 2 or 3 section.

i give up on trying to convince jr93alty. no clue where you see the side scoops. oh well, as long as it helps other people. im gonna go with what scarredgoth21 said on page 3, the FTO. matches the countours and silhoutte pretty darn close from what i can tell. its the crease in the rear quarter panel thats throws me off from anything else besides the r32.

the side scoops are directly below the side mirror. there's one in the door and one beneath the door. kinda like they are on an nsx (see first post on pg 4). if u own the game instead of looking at the picture on here, its quite easy to see. and the Z isnt even close as it was said earlier. the rear wing doesnt match. neither does the rear of a 96ish camaro. the rear of those round off towards the back...there is no corner like there is on a cover car. oh, and btw...AM I THE ONLY PERSON THAT CAN SEE THE SIDE SCOOPS???

yes... yes, you are...

do u own the game? its clear as day right under (slightly in front) of the side mirror. also, there was a thread about this about 3 years ago.

I think the guy who said it could be a 300ZX might be right, I though it was an NSX at first but the back end of it is wrong.

Heres a pic I did.

thats a nice picture but it seems that the side mirror is too far foward on the 300zx. on the cover car, the side mirror is much closer to the rear wheel. but now that i say that, it kinda hurts my argument for the nsx cuz the nsx side mirror is far foward too. i could now believe that it was a corvette if i could get over that rear end. i suppose the wind couldve caused a wrinkle that made it appear that the rear end is notched when it really isnt; its just a smooth transition upward with an air pocket. i dont know though...i still kinda think nsx but that side mirror location makes it hard to believe now.

i would just send an e-mail to PD to establish exacly what cars they are but i would be cheating + no point of this thread and i think peter is right, thats exacly what i thought but not sure about the rest

peterattheboro
the 1st cover i think is a Corvette Z06 :)

It's not a vette of any kind. Particularly not a Z06 because they don't have wings on the back.

GT: I think It's the 30th Anniversary Camaro. At least it's a Camaro but I'm taking it a step further. (My GT was stolen :( )

GT2: I am currently looking at the case because I still own it, It just shows the inside of a car, and on the Speedometer it says F1 on the right-side of it, so I see where you guess it's a McLaren F1. (Perhaps it could be a Renault Espace F1 the Uber Mini-Van)

GT3: The Red Cover which is the one I had is the Headlight of an Acura 3.2 CL.

Never owned GTC or GT4P

GT4: Ford GT obviously :D (Kazunori stole that pic from my Cell Phone because that's been my wallpaper for a while, a pretty weird coincidence. I took the pic at a Car Show.)

I thought everyone else was convinced its a 'Porsche' 996?? I am for sure... Acura 3.2CL has a square ish headlight - the one on the cover of GT3 is unmistakeably porsche. I say "unmistakeably" - obviously someone has mistaken it...

The car on the cover of GT1 is.......A camaro.

Here's my reasoning, first the front end is too curved to be an NSX, and the "side scoop" is too low on the body to be one it is simply the fan blowing the tarp against the tire. Second looking at the front of the car you can clearly see the opening for the headlight housing. Which looks exactly like a Camaro. You can clearly see the line that goes all the way down the body just below the rear wing (also a Camaro) that is on all 4th gen Camaros. Third the curveature of the side mirror and the postioning of it match up exactly with that of a Camaro. Photoshop a '96-'97 or even a 30th Anniv. Camaro on over the tarp and I am 99% sure it will be a perfect match.

Thank you. I'll be taking my bow now (sorry that was a little arrogant of me).
👍 :)

Edit: The roofline also suggest Camaro.
