I just was checking the news on GT5P and it looks like something is going to happen on the 20th from what I can tell.
Anyone have any info about this?

Since my news part (in game) does not work ATM according to above site:

20.03.2008 there will be a time attack event that will only last for 10 minutes - in other words we will only have 10 minutes to do the best lap. Conditions of a race will be posted on that site and in game 1h before that 10 minutes.
Event starts at 9 P.M. Japanese time so conditions and car will be posted at 8 P.M. Japanese time.

Nice I'm on vacation from work so will be able to take a part in this event Although I would rather like so that they would post a conditions and a car lets say 10 min before event not 1h - less practice more fun

there will be changes in events 20.03.2008 2 P.M. Japanese time - but it is not said if those will be some big changes or not, it might be something new but I think it will be usual "every Thursday" change...

* Start day and time: 2008/03/20 21:00
* End day and time: 2008/03/20 21:10

* Class: One make-up
* Course: Suzuka circuit
* Simulation restriction: Professional

Man that Trek450 is a machine! He is the stig of GT5, is he on the forum btw? I wish we could see his replay.

I finished 461th: 2'38.752, I drove with TCS on 1 and ASM on because I drive with a controller and I have trouble with dosing the throttle. I managed to complete 2 laps in the 10 minutes, I went off the track on the 3rd so it was all over.

Can I ask a question about this.. Are these 'events' official.. How do you know about them? Is there some kind of 'popup' in the game which tells you?

Whats the reward for doing them? Is it just for fun, so that you can compare your performance against everyone else, or do you get something for winning?

Fianlly, when setting your time, do you do it in an online mode (i.e against others) or do you do it on your own?

Any info on this would be appreciated

Well, I finished 271.place with an incredibly poor 2'34.993. It was a nice event though. I hope there's more to come...

So we have finished quite close I have forgot that I could use TCS and ASM ... hehe, but after all I never use it so
My time 2'38.029
On trainings I had 2:36.5xx and started but not finished lap for about 2.34.5xx
I do not know if trek450 is on the forum, I only rember him from GTHD best laps, you can watch his replay of 2.28.5xx from rankings.

The events are posted earlier on http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/ or in game, you go on line but you do your laps as in time trial mode, I do not know about reward - probably satisfaction of being listed in top 100

I only wonder if arcade time trial and on line time trial have different physics ... probably not but I can say i felt little bit different driving on line and back earlier in arcade mode... probably just me.

was for me the first time i drove the bmwm3 on suzuka and especially with n2 tyres!!....would have been much nicer if they did this test on s2 or s3 cause that simulates the real life situation more closely!!........i did manage to do one lap of 2.33.617 wich is place nr 182.....but that lap whas full of mistakes........anyway trek450 did what everybody thought...thumbs up for him!
