It’s crazy that we’re at that point in time where we can be nostalgic for GT3 cars. It feels like only a few years ago where I would be scrolling though entry lists for Australian GT race meetings, hoping to see a DBRS9, R8 LMS or Gallardo GT3 listed.

What’s cool for me is my final destination to Australia, I bought the first issues of Top Gear Australia. One of the issues featured the new GT3 series and added the budding GT4 category showing all the different entries. I wore that out while playing GT4-GT6 til the pages started falling out.

I couldn’t have called that one.

This machine will run against the 3 HWA Evos in class SP-X. Would bet HWA isn't that happy about it since they probably had their press release "We won 24h Nürburgring" already finished in a class without other entries 🤣

Honestly, I hope he has a good time and does well. Lance has a couple endurance races under his belt, so it's not like he's completley unfamiliar with the discipline. It should also be a welcome change of pace compared to the...experience that is the AMR26.

Last week I went to GT World Challenge America at Sonoma. I wasn't aware they changed this year's format until I bought tickets. Previously the main GT3 event was two races each 90 minutes. But this year there's only one race for 3 hours. Basically they combined the two races into one. I got there at like 8 AM in order to catch qualifying, but then that means the race ended at like 5 PM. I was exhausted by the end because I was walking around a large portion of the track with my camera gear

I imagine the issue running a GT-R now are the lack of spares unless Nissan took back all of the old GT World cars for parts.

The single "endurance" races are truer to the category of racing (in my opinion), but when I am at the track with a camera in my hand, I prefer the "sprint" events with two races: gives you more time to move around and cover more spots.

I still can’t get with this being DTM.

Yes, in Group A era there were two door and three door entries. I feel when the A4 wasn’t used any longer the old proper formula of DTM was gone. It’s grand touring more than touring.

I don't know how I missed this, but there is going to be a Z4 GT3 entered in the N24. The Z4 is one of my favorites, and a go-to for me in GT7. It doesn't look like it's going for an overall win, as it's in the SP9 class. It will be great to see a Gen1 GT3 car against all the new GT3 machinery. A Z4 GT3 hasn't competed since 2019.
