I've never been a fan of the first chicane at Monza - but with 57 cars on the grid, there was just too many cars fighting for the same, very limited space.
I've just watched the replay and I completely agree. They were approaching the first chicane with several rows of cars, six cars wide each. This was bound to happen.

Honestly, that should be a race ban for him. Brainless to move from outside the track like nobody is there. That kind of stuff is expected in bronze lobbies in LMU but not from a professional racer. Lucky nobody got hurt but they have to give harsh penalties for those incidents. not the first one on this track that was caused by exactly that move

It seems extraordinary to me that Maxime Martin is so adamant that he didn't do anything wrong - I don't know if he was just still angry about the penalty, but I seriously doubt the carnage at T1 would have happened but for Martin's driving.

Given the next race is the Crowdstrike 24h of Spa, a race ban could hurt a lot!!

Of the top 23 in the race right now, all but three have made more than 10 places - the #54 Porsche that started last is now in P8, and has made up an incredible 49 positions!!

#23 RJN McLaren into the pits from the lead with just 3-4 mins left before a mandatory stop, and a FCY comes while they are in the pits!!

Crazy end to the race coming up...

Disaster for #23 :( What a shame... I don't think Auer did anything wrong there - and still has a shot at the win.

edit: Not any more... another massive crash at T1 again, and surely a Safety Car to the end... Mazzola has won from Silver!

#Disaster for #87 as well - gutted for them too!!!

edit 2: WOW! #48 was extremely lucky not to be collected in the last accident, which was almost a carbon copy of Turn 1. I think there will be a lot of questions about both incidents today!!

Not impressed by GT World for putting an unskippable ad on right over the chequered flag , it was a shame because otherwise the coverage was good.

I noticed that they said that 'All speeds under Yellow Flags will be investigated after the race' - I was a bit suspicious of the #43 when it came out of the pits under Yellows and appeared to be going very fast for a good portion of the lap.

Just got caught up. Absolute shame that the Mustangs were taken out in the first corner as they seemed to have the best pace leading up to the race start. Martin needs to understand that it was his actions that led to the incident which got him in hot water, not for making any contact. He was WAY off the track where he shouldn't have been in the first place.

Was nice to see RJN up there running at the front. Sucks they got pushed off near the end, ruining any hopes of a fight for victory, but a podium is still great.

This morning I finished watching the rest of the main race. Good grief that's a lot of torn up race cars between GT3 and GT4 to get ready for Spa next month.

Did you happen to see the GT 4 race when the Porsche had the stuck throttle ( I'm guessing ) going in the Ascari Chicane and barrel rolled ? That was wild

I've just watched the race on YouTube add blocker in place and Maxime Martin needs his head examined. He claimed he didn't hit anyone. How did the bodywork on his front left of the wheel arch get broken then?

Genesis GT3 revealed. 😍

And another race, starting in 20 minutes from now - British GT at Spa Francorchamps...

Slightly disappointing race in British GT - they are sharing the race with FFSA (French GT) and the Alpine Cup, so there's a lot of cars and they are causing VERY long FCY/SCs. So far, they've been on FCY/SC for around 40 minutes, which is longer than they've actually been racing (ca. 35 minutes)... I can't quite understand why it takes so long to remove cars from the gravel - 20 minutes a pop seems incredibly slow, and has pretty much ruined the British GT race.

... 3 more minutes of racing and another car into the gravel - what a farce :indiff:

It strikes me more as a marketing ploy to get people talking about them than a project that will actually come to fruition, but I would love to see Spyker make a comeback.

260 cars took part in the car parade in Spa yesterday evening... so gutted to miss it this year, but having been twice already, I'm so glad that I took the chance(s) I had to go when I did!

I was nervous for a moment, and then I saw it started at 0800 Saturday for me - and then ends right before the IMSA at Watkins Glen on Sunday

Im not gonna be doing SQUAT this weekend.
I'll miss the last 8 hours or so. I'll be driving back from vacation and should get home about noon US CDT.

Richard and Sam Neary - aka Team Abba Racing - have won the GT3 Legends support race today... they finished 4th on track, but the three cars ahead all had penalties, so they got the win.

I'm delighted for them, and what a great thing to be able to do - racing classic GT3 cars around Spa must be right up there in terms of fun experiences!!

BMW seriously lacking speed this weekend. Looking like it's Ferrari's race to lose.
Yeh, Ferraris looking very strong - Porsche and BMW absolutely nowhere. McLarens also looking great, and P2 / front row for #58 (Gold) is mega impressive.

I think Ferrari / AF Corse are owed a win after what happened in 2024 - I'll be rooting for my age car - the #51 (and of course not just because it's on pole 😅 )
