Makes the Aston look even more ancient. With the 650 on the grid, the rest the cars need a refresh(bar the 991)

Ferrari will be bringing the twin-turbo V6 from the California T into the 458 (or it's replacement) for 2015, so I imagine the GT3 car won't be too far behind.

Callaway Competition says they are making a GT3 version of the C7 Corvette, but I haven't seen any thing else apart from some renders.

Everyone else however...

Well you have to keep in mind that SRO and the ACO were in talks of creating a global GT platform, so all manufacturers are basically in hold to build their new platforms in accordance to that rulebook. With that dream having blown up in smoke you'll start seeing the next generation of GT cars slowly coming out.

I think it would would be so much simpler for the ACO to just drop the GTE rule set all together and just adopt GT3 in it's place. That way, more manufacturers get to play in the GT class as they already would have cars homologated to race.

GTE has Viper, Corvette, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW (none of the GTE Z4's racing in Europe though), and Aston Martin.

GT3 sees Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Nissan, McLaren, Audi, Camaro, a GT3 Viper exists, Mercedes-Benz (but not for much longer with the SLS as the AMG GT is coming), BMW, and Bentley as the newest addition to the mix.

EDIT: And Lexus, forgot about them...

Blancpain is on now, #35 Nissan is in 2nd behind the ART McLaren, with a Bently in 3rd. Good battles through the whole field.

Hey the Aston may be old but it looks insanely gorgeous. ;)

^ This idea is very good. I like this! :D

Erebus Motorsport GT win Race 3 at Townsville.

Maybe I'm in the wrong place, maybe not, GT racing thread, Spa 24 is GT racing.... so here goes

Looking for a stream of the race if anyone knows of one?

I tried to watch but the quality was terrible so I will wait for the NBCSN show with the in-cars footage added.

1,5 day of working and then I am off to Spa 8)

Im looking for the same thing.
If anyone find something, please, send me a PM.

EDIT: Why there is no thread for the SPA 24?

Probably old news by now, but the Pirelli World Challenge is expanding, with more split races for GT/GTS next year, with the goal of having entirely separate fields by 2016. Looks like the IMSA merger was the best thing to happen to American GT racing and the SCCA Pro series in a long time. A lot of GTD teams look to be poached from the series and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were some of the more exotic cars (i.e. not Porsche's).

Additionally, Endurance races are being considered, using a 2 hour format with a timed break between the hours for pit stops and drivers changes since they currently don't have pit stops to keep crew and thus costs down.

That PWC race today was chaos. They're wrecking some cars big time every round.

Endurance rounds would hurt it more than it could possibly benefit it imo. What makes PWC have the numbers it does is because the sprint format is cheap. Really cheap. Increasing the weekend race costs would sideline some cars

They're clearly only expressing interest in it because there is likely competitor interest in it. Again, "Endurance" in this case, is implied a 2 hour race, which is still shorter than pretty much all of TUSC's non-endurance races. For teams leaving TUSC to PWC, that's a sizeable decrease in running costs. On top of that, this 2-hour race would basically have one mandatory 5-minute you-can't-leave-until-the-clock-expires pit stop. So no need for specialized pit crews, only two sets of tires instead of one, and even more wheel time. And since driver changes are permitted during that pit stop, it opens up the possibility for teams to be able to find more customer drivers to fund the race.

If anything, any added costs it might incur would be made back up since these Endurance races could potentially replace double-header weekends, allowing the teams to not have to spend extra scratch staying the extra night in town.

A 2 hour race is quadruple the race time of a regular race. Double that of a weekend with a double header. No doubts it's still cheap, but if you're going to pay for the longer races, it's not much more to go ahead and run Conti Challenge or Tudor. The cost drop isn't nearly as much which is how PWC exists in the first place

I don't understand how 2 hours is quadruple the length in time of a 50 minute sprint race.

And it remains to be seen as to whether or not Endurance races will be run as a double-header with another race day that weekend.

And you're saying it's not that much more to go pay to race a slower car in a less significant racing series? You're a rich guy that can and wants to race a GT3 style car... and you'd rather spend more to go race a Miata or Camaro?

You're a GTD team in TUSC that no longer wants to run the long schedules and massive amounts of track time in that series, but oh well, might as well stick with that since that's the only option for GT racing using that kind of car, eh? Better to be at the back of the pack with little to no TV time at Daytona than front of the pack with a line of paying customer drivers at Mid-Ohio, right?

The Pirelli World Challenge has exploded in popularity for a reason, and it's not because of the fans. They could likely adopt a BSS style of Sprint Racing and still have a cost-competitive and attractive package and they'd still grow car counts and popularity.
