I think nothing has been confirmed yet, as far as I know. I'm sure the game will allow us to tune our cars and tweak their settings, like usual.

In FIA online events though, it will be necessary to limit some of the options significantly to prohibit ineligible entries.

I guess it'll be something like an F1 game - since there'll be regulations on each class, roughly in-line with real world racing classes (LMP1, GT3, GT4...), you'll probably be able to tweak things like downforce, suspension, and so on within those regulations - but I can't see you being able to whack a stage 3 turbo on a GT3 car and give it 800bhp.

On the original question. I certainly hope so. The ability to tune cars is one of the things I most enjoy or appreciate with GT6. I am not a tuner per se but I value the many tunes perfected and supplied by the great tuners who share.
I don't think they will stop the ability to tune cars as that is something that has been in train for quite a while now and very popular.

Only a guess, but I think the online FIA championships will be tuning prohibited. There may be tuning options, but I imagine these will only be usable on the rest of the game.

Why is it that screenshots of the setup screens never get taken? Its never covered and I have to wait til the game is out.

More than likely it's because the builds at the game shows and other venues don't allow anyone to get into the tuning menus.

upgrades that increase horsepower and the like would likely be prohibited in FIA events, the most we can expect is fine-tuning transmission, brake balance, suspension, downforce, differential and such.

Seriously, aside from tire pressure, it's about time we had ECU tuning like in NFS Underground 2. being able to control the car's powerband to your desire should be available already.

The Car list reveals N100, N200, N300, N400. Once the cars go Gr. 4+, they'll have racing setups. I'm sure we can set camber, spring rates and maybe tyre pressure. Those are things allowed In most racing series.
A gear ratio is predetermined in other series like NASCAR, (V8) Supercars, GT4(If I recall from 2007, I don't think the ratio can be changed at all).

Anyway, if we are given a slider(slide left for quicker acceleration, slight right for higher top speed)it may seem amateurish, but could make setup easy for online racing.

Amateurish indeed, but it would make the most sense for quick and easy setups as you said. Also given the initial trailer stated GTS will be for all ages (7-77). Most if not all kids don't know a darn thing about tuning unless it is spelled out like you said: slide left for acceleration and right for top speed.

I'm not sure amateurish is the right word.

more on the lines of "teetering towards oversimplification", if it hasn't come down to that yet.

But yeah, that kind of setup is perfect for youngsters who want to get in quick and have at least a very basic sense of tuning.

I'm not sure there's any reason that we won't be able to add suspension or gearbox upgrades to Gr.N cars.
But I get the impression that there will be very little options for power or weight upgrades.
And of course the other groups will probably already have adjustable components fitted to allow tuning.

I imagine we'll have almost no limitations of tuning for any group of cars when racing in online lobbies.
But I expect tuning options will be greatly limited when competing in 'Sports Mode'.

A few words come to mind, most of which violate the AUP:lol:. I think @Tassie_tiger is on the right track. In Sport Mode, very limited tuning in the lower classes, more and more tuning options in the higher classes, just like in real life. Tuning options limited or nullified in official competitions or Time Trials. Maybe all the cars will be BOP'd for Sports Mode, with identical transmissions and more.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how they choose to go about this.
The smallest whiff of a dominate car in any class, with zero tuning options available, would not go down very well.

Considering how limited GT6 was in terms of tuning, assume the same. Take out the nitrous and that should be it.
Really? I'd say assume GT5P tuning as most likely. Thinking you'll get more than that is setting youself up for disappointment.
