Day 214. Trial Mountain 2 hour Enduro for standard cars.
I choose the RUF RGT that was in the garage and fitted T2 tires and gave it a oil change.
Results :
1st. RUF RGT. 76 laps in a time of 120'02.626. best lap was 1'30.660. 150,000 credits.
2nd. NSX Tpe S Zero 73 laps.
3rd. Mazda RX-7 RZ 71 laps
4th. Supra RZ 71 laps
5th. Skyline R32 GTR vspec 69 laps
6th. Lancer Evo VII RS 69 laps.
The RGT is a very pleasant car to drive in this race being fast and nice handling.
Not as fast as a GT-One road car but very capable.
The bonus car Honda S2000 LM was sold.
 
Day 215. Buy the Renault Clio Sport Race car in black. Add some T2 tires.Give it the oil change and power goes to 299.
The AI turned out being all V6 24V versions. The race car turned out to be way to fast with 1 minute winning margins in the first four races and a lap at the 15 lap Cote D Azur race.
Reward for each race win is 15,000 credits, 60,000 championship bonus and a Beetle Cup car which I sold. It seems an odd prize car to win for this championship?
Race 1 is 10 laps at Rome. Race time 15'43.313 best lap 1'31.318.
Race 2 is 10 laps at Grand Valley, time 20'55.276 best lap 2'01.671
Race3 is 10 laps at SS RII Reverse. time 22'03.194 best lap 2'08.124

Day 216. Stay in the Clio Sport race car and enter the Seattle 100 mile endurance race. 40 laps.
The Amercian Muscle outguns the Clio in the straights but I catch up at the corners. The Cobra streaks away for a big early lead but is hampered by pitting every 2 laps.
I pit once on lap 26 for a 1 lap winning margin.

Day 217. Buy a black Lotus Elise 190. A trip to the tune shop finds me spending up big to install all the good bits and a stage 1 turbo. All the unnecessary wheight is removed. I like the Semi racing suspension best on the 190 and T3 tires are hard enough to last.
No Need to say I enter the Elise pro championship and have some close races against 2 Motor Sport Elises. The 3 190 Elise's dont rate.
Race 1 10 laps at Cote D Azur. race time 17'47.968, best lap 1'43.801. Win by 11 seconds.
Race 2 10 laps Apricot Hill. Race time 14'40.517 best lap 1'25.635. Win by 15 seconds.
Race 3 10 laps Deep Forest. Race time 13.29.260 best lap 1'18.201. Win by 5 seconds, the AI do not pit.
Race 4. 10 laps Rome Reverse. Race time 15'36.910 best lap 1'30.565. Win by 0.5 seconds. The 2nd place MS did not pit.
Race 5. 10 laps Trial Mountain. Race time 15'26.516 best lap 1'30.274. win by 25 seconds. AI pit on lap 8.
15,000 credits per race win with a 60,000 bonus. Bonus car Elise 190 sold.
 
Day 218. I pick my Yarris to enter the Rome 2 hour Enduro. Has 290 hp and left as is from the last race of the Pro Yarris.
When I pitted at the end of lap 13 I was 23 seconds ahead of the Clio Sport which was pitting every 7 laps.

Day 219. Buy a black TVR Tuscan Speed Six. Upgraded the transmission, engine, brakes, semi race suspension full weight reduction and T2 tires. Power was at 526 bhp.
This was way too much as each race was won by other a minute.

Day 220. Enter the Laguna Seca Endurance 200 km race. 90 laps, I am using the Dodge Viper GTS-R Orica.
I trial the AI Viper for the first laps until my T2 tires get to temp and the AI tires start to go off. I pit at end off lap 24, 48 and 71. Winning margin over the Viper AI was 2 laps and 22 seconds.
Results:
1st. Dodge Viper GTS-R 120'02.881 best lap was 1'16.615.
2nd. Dodge Viper GTS-R + 2 laps
3rd. Corvette C5R + 4 laps
4th. Esperante GTR-1 + 6 laps

Day 221. Enter the Grand Valle 300 km endurance race. 60 laps, I am using the Calsonic Skyline with oil change and T2 tires.

Day 222. Enter the SS RII hight enduro 50 laps. I am using the GT-One Race Car with oil change and T2 tires.

Day 223. Enter the Endurance race at Tokyo 100 laps. For this long race I am going to cheat and use the Mazda 787 B to get it done as quick as possible. Used T2 tires and pitted laps 20,40,60 and 80.

2nd. Denso Sard Supra + 10 laps
3rd. Pennzoil Nismo GTR + 11 laps
4th. Arta NSX + 11 laps

Day 224. Enter the Mistral 78 lap Endura at Cote D Azur. I am using this race as practice for the F1 races so I use my Polyphony 002.

Bonus Car Polyphony 002 is a keeper.
Prize car for Endurance completion is the Polyphony 001 which will be used next to win the F1 races.
I won two out of ten F1 cars as prizes for the endurance races, one for first race and one for the last race.
 
Day 225.
Enter the F1 pro championship in the Polyphony 001 with an oil change. First 5 races were wins by over 1 lap.
Race 6 at test track was a win by 1 minute and 8 seconds.
Race 7 at Laguna Seca was a win by 58 seconds. Should have lapped the field except for several mistakes.
Race 8. Win by 1 minute almost lapped AI.
Race 9 at Tokyo. Set the gearing high and suffered. Closest race of all the F1 winning by just 20 seconds!
Race 10. won by 2 laps.
30,000 credits per race win. 250,000 for championship and a Polyphony 002 as a prize car.
Not a huge reward for just over 7 hours of racing.

Race 1 : Midfield 30 laps.
Even after running 78 laps in the previous enduro it still takes a couple of laps to get into the rythem in the OO1.

Optimising tire wear and even pit stop intervals will give an advantage in these races. I pit at end of lap 8, 16, 24 & 32 where the AI pit end of 9, 18, 27, and 36. same number of stops but I gain advantage in not letting my tires go fully red and then only having 4 laps on good rubber.

I have all the prize cars on another game save so I only keep the ones I can use!
Can I edit the Title?

Had a controller problem last night while running the GT pro race at the test track, I was on lap 13 of 15 drafting the lead R390 when I lost all power and I slowed to 100 kmh, noticed that the turbo boost guage showed 0. I got power back but I had lost too much time to catch up even thought the R390 pitted.
I will try again tonight. I had saved after race 3 so I did not loose to much progress. I might try changing the accelorator button over to the left stick for this one. I still had steering control but I had lost all accelorator control for about 30 seconds untill it came back on. rather strange.
 
I see, very clever. I 'm kinda doing that right now, starting over. I got just enough credits to buy my Cobra from the other card and race in the (you guessed it) PD Cup. I save each race replay and call them 'The Last Ride' until I get GT4.

My controler is about 2 years old, and it sometimes abruptly pauses for no aparent reason. I think the cord is starting to separate from it. Maybe the same deal for you.
 
Day 227. Oil change and car wash for the GT-ONE race car.
Enter the Professional Gran Turismo All Stars Championship.
A series ruined by inconsistant R390 LM. Blindingly quick but has problems staying on the track at a couple of places.
Race 1 : Laguna Seca. 15 laps.
I use T2 tires and stage 1 turbo with 735 hp. The R390 screams away to a fast start on its softer compoound tires. After a 2 laps my tires come up to temp and I can start chasing. I am about to catch the R390 on lap 9 when it has the bigest lose possible at turn 2. I scrape pass and into the lead while the R390 fishtails back and forth accross the track. The R390 spins again on the Corkscrew and losses more than 30 seconds on that lap. Last six laps are a cruise to the finish.

The R390 runs away into the distance and sets a fast pace right from the start. Evan the extra 100 horses I have dont make much difference. Mental note to myself to ask my crew to check what size turbo the R390 is running. Once again I can start pulling about 1 second a lap back of him after lap 3 when my tires get up to temp. Lap nine I glimpse the back of the R390 and pass him as he pits at the end of that lap. I have about a 20 second lead which drops to 15 by the end of the race.

Race 4. Test Track. 15 laps. T2 tires and stage 2 turbo. Crew chief reckons the 2 fast AI are running stage 3 turbos.
Controller failure ment I had to re-run race after reloading from the back up memory card.
I qualify 2nd for this race. With the speed difference( me 371 kmh and the R390 about 390 kmh) drafting is essential.
The good news is the R390 pits twice on end lap 7 and end lap 14.
I pick up a draft from second place AI GT-ONE for the first 5 laps running about 395-400 kmh and still am 9 seconds down on first place R390. Lap 6 is without draft as the GT-ONE pits and I drop another 6 seconds on the R390. I pass the R390 as he pits end lap 7 and hold the lead for a lap. I pick up the draft on the R390 as he passes lap 9 and I can draft up to 420 kmh for the next 5 laps until he pits on lap 14. I win by about 15 seconnds. My fastest lap was 8 seconds faster than the last lap when I had no draft.
FIT THE STAGE 3 TURBO for people who want easy win. The drafting is what the Test Track is all about and does not get tiring at all when the AI have better top speed.

I can keep pace with the lead while tires are cold and take the lead on lap 4 on green tires. I can not match straight line speed of the R390 or GT-ONE AI but they corner like crap at this track. Pull away for a 30 second win.

Race 7. Seattle Reverse. 15 laps. Crew cheif advices that take is greasy and should run T5 tires and pit once. I concur and run qualifying to test out speed and grip on T5's. I qualify 1st with a poor run at 1'25.543. We are using the biggest turbo we have , the stage 2 with only 798 hp.
I am now 2 seconds a lap quicker and win by 30 seconds even with my pit stop.

Race 8. SS R11 Reverse 15 laps. Crew chief concerned about durability of T5 at this longer race and decide to run the T2's. Note to team sponsor, buy some T3 for SS R11 reverse. Stage 2 turbo .
The AI R390 runs way out front by about 20 seconds after lap 5. I get blocked badly by the other GT-ONE in these laps which cost me lots of time. I finnally get some grip from the hard T2's and pass the pesky GT-ONE and start pully a few seconds a lap of the gap. I am almost caught up when the R390 pits about lap 9.
I get a 20 second lead which drops back to 14 seconds as my fronts start to go off. The R390 was running some very quick laps here.

How bad are the AI here. The R390 and GT-ONE kill me up the straight but at every second corner on every lap they slide out wide and then slide all over the track getting back on. Lap the field.

Race 10. Tokyo R246. 15 laps. I use T2 tires and wishing for a bigger turbo.
The R390 is again very fast and drives this track very well. His soft tires require him to pit twice, 2nd time on end lap 14, which kills a otherwise close race.
I got the lead on end lap 7 when the R390 pitted and kept it untill lap 13 when the R390 passed me on the start finish straight. I retook the lead on lap 14 as his 2nd set of tires went off. Lead all the way to the end and backed off on lap 15 as the front tires were going orange.

Day 228 will be the last simulation event which is the Pro Japanese GT championship. Currently credits are just under 12 million. I will then have the Arcade mode races to complete, I will enter only hard level to complete as quick as possible. I will be using only cars from the arcade selection. I reckon best stock rally car is the 206 rally, and for normal races the best bet is either the Honda NSX or one of the better slower class of cars.
Somebody asked how you can get 20 % completion done in another thead, The answer to that is the 20% slab of arcade mode done in hard mode.
 
Day 228. Japanese GT Car Championship Professional.
I decide to use the Calsonic Skyline and buy the first 3 turbo upgrades.
Race 1. Grand Valley 15 laps. Use stage 1 turbo (578 hp) and T2 tires.

Race 3. 15 laps Test Track.
Fit the stage 3 turbo, 691 hp at the start of the race which drops down to 645 hp at the end. Set the car up for high speed. Remember that the peak power for the Skyline is about 1000 RPM BELOW red line so use auto set 43 or 44 so that the top speed occurs between 6000 to 6500 rpm. This gives a top speed of 330-332 kmh. If you set the auto set lower so that it is at redline at the end of the straight you only get 310-312 kmh.
Set poll position.
For the first 5 laps I can pull away from the Toms Supra which appears to have a top speed around 320 kmh. From 6 laps on I can notice the power slowly dropping off. At lap 7 the Supra catches me up. As my power keeps dropping I am required to draft the Supra for the rest of the race. Experimintation shows that I have enough in hand to pull out of the draft before the finish line and take the win. Very important to use 6500 rpm as your redline at the test track for the race skylines. Reducing the differential settings to minimum will give a few extra kmh speed as well.

Easy race. The T5 tires give better grip at this track and certainly worth the time spent pitting at end lap 9 for new tires.

The AI picked up the speed and ran out in front. A spin on lap 2 at the entry to the start finish line cost me six seconds (first spin in this series). Another spin caused by the AI on lap 6 at the end of the start finish line cost me some more time. I was about 20 seconds behind the Toms Supra at this stage and really had to knuckle down to pick up some lost time. When the Supra pitted I was still about 10 seconds behind with 4 laps left to run. On earing tires I was able to grab the win with a 5 second margin.

Day 229 : Area A in simulation mode in hard level completed using the C class SLK 230 and the 206 rally car for the rallies.
% complete goes up to 83.9. Trophies aquired goes up to 370.
I did have a problem at super speedway in that the game frooze if I tried to use a car higher than C spec. Maybe a scratch on the disc was the problem as I could select all car classes for the next tracks.

And how long did this take, from day 1 to 229?

I started 23rd Nov 2004 and completed the Simulation Feb 12 2005.

If I use the F1 as Small Fryz suggested I should be able to finish the Arcade mode pretty quickly.
 
Day 229 : Arcade mode. Hard Level.
I cant select anything other than C level cars on tarmac races. The Game freezes on the B level car screen and nothing happens. Must be the disc that is damaged.
I have been using the Mercedes CLK for these races. The Rally races let me pick the rally cars and I use the 206 rally car.

Area B cleared. 87.4 % complete. 376 trophies.

Area C cleared. 90.8 % complete. 382 trophies.

Area D cleared. 94.2% complete. 388 trophies.

Area E cleared. 97.1% complete. 393 trophies.

Area F cleared. 100 % complete. 393 trophies.

Just an update on my game freezing in the B garage arcade mode.
Has to be a scratch on the disc.
After I completed the game I found a way to access the A, S and home garage cars.
What you do is go into a rally race (remember I had no problems using an arcade rally car) and move across to the home garage. Then you exit the rally event and pick a tarmac race, the home garage will then be selected so I can move to the left to pick S and A cars. However if I select B the game freezes again.
