Man..slowest again..

Ran 4 laps so far, not broken in yet..

STB:
T1: '14.636
T2: '31.099
T3:1'03.210

need to tweak the LSD a bit more..I think with some mroe time and once it's broken in, I should be competitive.

I was chatting with Small_Fryz this morning, and realized that no-one else is using the same setup I am for STC. I won't give it all away, but I'll just say that my Miata has 350+ hampsters, and it's within the budget.

found your setup, will give it a burn today :)

I've found the power, but I'm unsure about what extras are equipped...
the ways I've tried it so far has still yielded me times slower than my best efforts so far

perhaps I'm just that much slower

edit: btw, I've noticed that a lot of you have started to plug this series in your signatures. Thanks for that, its appreciated.

Ok, sorry if this spoils it for you guys, I'm spilling the beans :)

16,900 - Miata
12,500 - Turbo Kit / Stage 2
4,500 - Muffler & Air Cleaner / Racing
1,000 - Racing Chip
5,000 - Port Polish
1,000 - Lightweight / Stage 1
2,500 - Clutch / Double Plate
500 - Flywheel / Semi-Racing
3,000 - Suspension / Sports
2,500 - Carbon Driveshaft

49,400 - Total

The springs are set hard (8/8) and the car hits the rev limiter twice on the first straight, but is good everywhere else 👍

The suspension was the most important part, without it the car is almost undriveable it slides around so much.

blah blah blah

hrm, i had that exact setup on one of mine
i guess i just am that much slower - or i need more time with it

edit:
i hopped back into it and have been having a better time drifting it around the first 5 or 6 turns than i have been trying to pull a quick lap

im with luxy except i have racing flywheel at $900, giving me total of $49,800.

my setup is

8/10 (damper)
2/1 (camber)

got a lap time 1 second faster than my previous best, but it was dirty.

This mx5 setup is da pawnage.

Oh, so this is what I was doing wrong... I traded the suspension for the full racing transmission, but like you said, the car handles like a pig (on the wing, to remain in theme with the Pink Floyd's song that I am currently listening to as I type ;)).

Also, buying the full racing transmission didn't leave me too much money to buy more monkeys/hamsters/donkeys/emus for my zoo :scared: 👎

Will have to give STC another go with your setup, hopefully I will get better lap times, without the car sliding so much...

Not much time this week, though - we will see ;)

I might actually put down a few runs this time... Prepare for some comp in STB and STA ;)

you talking to me and luxy, or just TheWizerd  ;)

Small_Fryz

I know I am not much of a competitor, Small_Fryz ;)
And I know that Azuremen can overtake me pretty easily...
But you don't need to rub it on my nose, now do you? ;) :D

I know you and Luxy can't be touched - and if Hugo Boss decides to show up here, it will be the end of it for everybody - but still, I can still drive quite good (decent) ;)

I will prove it to you, one day... Just give me some time, and I will be in Division 1 as well... 👍

The Wizard.

Umm... you... and Luxy...

I just pulled this in STB

T1 - 13.837
T2 - 29.244
T3 - 1'00.555

Using an MR2 GT-S... and its at 4.6xx for PWR cause it hasn't been broken in yet.

Got some mid 58s with an STA MR2 GT-S... can easily take lots of time outta that, as that was only 1 lap... :p

TheWizard
I am just not worth competing against, am I :(
j/k :D

The Wizard.

You know im mucking around with ya Wizard 👍. Your a brilliant driver considering how long you have been competing online 👍.

Nice times Azureman 👍.

Its Azuremen... or just Azure, or Az... ;)

Naw Wiz, you comp too, just pounting out to Fryz here that I can generate some comp with a way different car than a Z28 :D

I know ;)
I am joking around as well, no offense taken 👍

Obviously, I can't expect to pick up GT3 after 2 years (or close to it, anyway), join online competitions for the first time (when, back when I was playing GT3, all I used to care about was beating the AI - therefore, no strict driving with the rules that apply here and we all know, and just cruising rather than racing, as we all know it doesn't take much skills to overtake the AI in the GT series) and be up there at the top with you all guys that obviously have been taking this seriously for more time that I have...

As I said, one day (certainly after GT4 comes out, at this point) I will be able to be up there with you guys as well - or, at least, I plan on it :sly:

The Wizard.

what the hell miatas are you guys using? i have the first one (the lightest one) and i'm like still 2 seconds behind everyone.

t3 is 1'04.9

Here's the Miata I'm driving ... same one you are, but probably tuned a bit differently. So far, this setup seems to be the fastest :)

yo omnis, IM me if you need any help with the miata.
i need to get some sta laps in... im kinna slackin this week. dont feel like doing much. but ill have times in.

Hey I'd like to join in :D :dopey: hmmmm *will run stc* ;) --- Randy

great, the more the better

having trouble finding the time to do any lapping this week. Why is it that week's off from school always end up being busier than 'weeks on.'
It's a paradox that I have experienced several times before, and one that I'm caught up in right now.

yeah the way i set it up was pretty crude. however, i bought a full suspension.....and i see you took the raw HP approach.

i'm not using my DFP for this either...it's not set up because i had to totally clean out my room. ds2 is jumpier than i thought with the miata, but it'll have to do.

Same here. I doubt I'll be able to get into this one :(

Looks clean to me - although though if you're only going to spend around $90K, you had might as well enter into STA, provided you meet the PWR restriction. I would check it, except I'm about 100miles from my PS2 at the moment. Also, if you havent go grab the ISCC official calculator from the first post of this thread (or from my sig). It makes tracking budget quite easy, and has a utility to calculate your target tuning horsepower so you dont break the PWR after breakin.

PWR for the Lancer: 2.978 uh oh...STS for me...building a STA racer and STB racer too with the same concepts...its a sports car...so I'm making it into a sports car with the Sports Upgrades....plus I have Never driven with TCS and ASM off before, so this new to me!:D :dopey:

Yeah. The miata handles pretty well already ... My only problem with it was having too much weight transfer making it hard to hook it up exiting slow corners. All I needed to fix that was some stiffer shocks which are about all you get with the Sports Suspension :)

Omnis

Yeah, I was lazy the other day, too and didn't hook up my DFP. My laps were with a DS2 :sly: I've always found the chicane trickier with the DFP anyway, for some reason ...

have you guys noticed that its much easier to get good times with cars with lots of torque, regardless of pwr? I have tried and MR-s, Silvia, 300ZX, and Supra RZ (which was going to be my entry..till it broke in 4.484 PWR :banghead: ) it seems like you cant get the kind of acceleration out of the corners with less powerful, lighter cars. I was hitting about 122 at the finish in the MR-s and nearly 130 in the supra.
Also it seems like alot of the lighter and less powerful cars are undertired as well, so any advantage you would gain in the corners by driving a lighter car is eaten up by the huge grip available to the heavier, more powerful cars.
im not suggesting banning anything powerful and heavy, but its just too bad that PWR isnt also accompanied by PTR (Power to Torque Ratio) or something like that...

yeah, or a hp limit as well as a wieght limit. but meh, at least youve found some cars that can compete with the camaro.
