I know it is a bit late, but maybe someone is interested and has the skill....

Sony Computer Entertainment Ireland’s GT4 competition, with a top prize of a 55,000-euro Nissan 350Z sports car, closes in just over ten days from now on April 30. For details, see our first report.

With over 1,000 submissions, the current average time for the top 16 entries currently stands at 7:27:931

Id like to put my skills to use, but I'm not from Ireland :ouch:

If they had that here, I could kiss a good week of my life goodbye. But man, If I could get that car, man would it be worth it!
 
Might give this a bash...! 7'27 in a 350Z...? Sounds do-able if you ask me... :) I live in London, so getting over to Baile Atha Cliath is easy ;) Will try it tonight... 👍

No offense holl, but I'm really glad you're not in Ireland... :D I think one of our top D1 drivers could show them a thing or two... 👍

Sony was also kind enough to remind us at 32%, and over 450,000 units, Ireland has the highest penetration of PS2s outside of Japan

means that after only 1st day of sales, 1 in every 67 people in ireland had gt4.

with figures like that, no wonder they invest in marketing. it just looks like Ireland is PS mad, and GT4 mad country. :)
 
I thought that competition ended last month.
A friend told me about it and he was only able to do about 8 minutes.
I had a go and got 7:30.

I can't believe the best time for that is so poor.

Maybe I'll give it a go!

or..arcade - time trial, you are allowed for bhp and weight adjustment in quick tune-up section. doesn't say anything about tires or going off track. they are going to verify times using those codes you get when you press start button on records screen in time trial, they don't say anything about keeping replays.

so i assume that you could prolly take some shortcuts and hug some walls, unless they could know that from reading those codes...btw, anyone has any idea what info exactly is included in those codes???

Absolutely man!... give it a shot 👍 Still got a few days, so I bet you'd get a very repectable time... shame it's not this week's WRS race!!

Thnx,i used a stock z350 (not gt4edition) and in gt mode.I guess in arcade with the light tuning,and 15ps more it will be better...
 
hey now this sounds amazing!!!! do you actually have to LIVE in Ireland to compete or can u br from britian? because i love the game and the car and i would like to try my chance as im the best on the game in my area ?? anybody helop me here?? thank you,

DemonSeed [-p :)]. I dont have any time yet, 'cos i only learned about whole thing 2 days ago. And i didn't have time to try seriously. and i hate that track [only drove 5 or so laps on it]. I'll give it a go tomorrow [took day off to see if i can get that nissan :)] and let you know.
 
so sick of touching the grass near the end of the lap would have been a 7:21.*** maybe i should go back to my ds2 i'm just going to send in my time. how many people from ireland are members on this site i'd love to know if i'm in with a go at the car

well, there's at least 3 of us. Me, you and neilX. i hope more will show up, and then we will open our own Ireland Racing Div. :)

as for grass, see my post above. they dont want replays as verification, only the code you get on records screen after pressing start. i'd love to know if the code stores somehow info about staying on track....i don't think so though
 
No point entering unless you are from Ireland or Northern Ireland, just noticed this in the Terms and Conditions

10. Promotion is open to those resident in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland only.

Well that counts me out!

I've done that track quite a bit during the licenses and missions, but it is so long it really will take a lot of practice to get a good time.
I'll give it a good go tonight and see what sort of a time I get.

There is a GT4 Goodie Bag to be won even if you don't get the 55k car.
 
does anyone no if there will ever be a compotition like this for us people who live in engalnd ?? if some one could get back to me with sum info i would be foreva gratefull lol !!! thank you,

yes, top 16 times will battle it out later on in dublin, and the winner gets the car and the ticket to le mans 24 where european championship will be held. other 15 will get goodie bags [and tickets home, says there that they pay you for transport to dublin]. hoping that goodie bags are of 1st prize standard, its worth trying anyway.
im going to spend a day tomorrow training. i reckon i'll get frustrated soon enough and just drop it. but who knows.
 
i think this is a little unfair as you have to be from ireland or northen ireland, because im from newcastle in england, but i if i got thru id be happy and pround to represent ireland without a dout :lol: oh well ill just haveto wait till a comp comes to england, but ill not hold my breath!!!

What do you think about the settings?
Step 3 - Select the Nissan 350Z Gran Turismo 4 Limited Edition (Z33) 05 from the Car Selection Menu, you are allowed to use the Quick Tune feature in Time Trials to lower the weight and increase the HP.

They don't make any mention of Transmission, Driving Aids or Tyres.
I assume that we can do what we want with these.

I just had a quick go at this yesterday and I only managed a 7:42. Very poor.
