Lets just say, hypothetically, that you could do ANYTHING to help you go faster, i.e. cut corners/surf barriers etc., just how fast could you guys go? Just to see if anyone could get their time down to 7:06. Maybe you guys could help me out and post anything that picks you up time, like, say, ridin the barrier at the first carousell.

ok, i'm gonna see what i can do, i should be able to get a 7'10 or under while using "anything goes" tactics, if i can manage that, i'll post a replay so u can improve gaidin, seing as how ur in the running for the 350z!

theres definitely at least 5 places where u could gain at least .5 secs on each, so a 7'10 is possible.

congratulations Gaidin, nice one man! :) Now, before you start wall-surfing maybe it's worth to check out with Sony Ireland what are the rules for knock-out stage?
No point in training shortcuts if you can't use them.

Once again, good stuff :)!

As far as i know, you may be allowed to use shortcuts "as you run the risk of spinning". Yeah right, Sony haven't a clue!
Anyway, any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

gt4ireland.com has only stupid mesage that competition is now closed. but, if it will be open to public Gaidin, could you post date, time and place of knock-out stage? i'd love to be there, and if im free, i will.

7'10.265 Cheating

So far the places i've found to pick up time are as follows:

cut straight across the grass at the first S bend;
cut across the grass at the second S bend after the second fast section;
ride the barrier at the second corner after the bridge into the long fast uphill section;
ride the barrier at the first carousell;
cut across the grass at the S bend after the carousell;
and possibly just plough into the barrier after the long straight at the end to slow you down

I can't really see anywhere else to pick up time!

yes, but theres more ways u can cheat:
In T1, smash into left wall at first S section (rebound off in third gear, it picks u up .8 secs

Just after T4, smash into right wall, and rebound off in 3rd gear (that gains a chunk of time)

i'll send u an x-port replay if u want, maybe u'll learn some new tips on how to gain time.

I'd only managed a 7:29, but that was a totally clean lap, I didn't leave the track once, no wall riding, not even a tap and absolutely no shortcuts.
I didn't enter the time, I was certain it wasn't good enough.

I was racing on Nurburgring with a friend the other day and he said don't brake there, just go straight across and I realised how I could have gone a lot faster for that competition. But I only had a couple of days at it anyway and didn't really have enough practice at it.

Good luck with the Head to Head Gaidin.

So if you managed a 7:35 but weren't within an ass' roar of their times, what times were they getting?
And have they entered that competition?

They were down to 7.23/24 and there was no possible way of me finding that extra time and yes, they have entered the competition.

Yo!!!...I dint know there was actually another competition happening in europe..
the middle east regional heats just finished....AND I'AM ONE OF THE FINILIST!! :D:D
the dubai finalist...
the prize is the same...but we have a crappy track.. suzuka "east course"...
and yes...it is the "anything goes" tactic again..
overall I came second out of 11 in the middle east
I did a 53.903 ...manual,S3 tires,no assist
check out the local heat winners..linky ( sadly they havnt updated the kuwait,dubai and one more of saudis winners on the site )

so the finals is on the 27th of this month.. and I feel the competition wasnt very challenging cause of the track..lucky fer you guys , you get the nurb!! :grumpy:

The final took place today at Nissan's HQ between the Long Mile Road and the Naas Road.
I won me first race but spun towards the end of the second race and handed the other guy the race.

Had fun tho, BUT

the entire event was probably THE most badly run event in the history of this country. Considering there was a €55,000 euro up for grabs, you'd think they'd have it all organised, but NO.

They went to all the trouble of bringing racing pods with steering wheels from the UK for the event and were still replacing the WRX banners on the side of the pods 5 mins before the start. Not only that but i saw 2 ppl having great fun trying to fit on a sticker that was SO obviously meant for the other side.

This event was apparently run by Sony and still they couldnt even hook the pods up for LAN races. MUPPETS. It was 1 on 1 races using the 2 player split screen ffs. What a waste. When quizzed about it, the 2 people apparently incharge, one being Sony's PR lady, said "ah yeah, we could have done it but we didn't, so, do you want to race or not?"

BULL****

There's more:

The pods were together in 2's. Both tv's run off the one playstation, but the plonkers thought it might be a good idea to only run the visuals over to the second tv.

The result:

Player 2 had to listen to the other persons TV. I mean FFS, we're both driving the same car which is hard enough to distinguish your engine from the other guy, nevermind having to listen to the one beside you. When i pointed this out the tech guy said he had no more cables!!! And the ppl in charge didn't care. I made sure i got the one with the sound.

Not only that but when this was pointed out to them, they insisted that sound was comin from both TV's.

PUT YOUR EAR TO THE SPEAKER, FOOL!

At which point they said it was like that for everyone else so i'd have to make do!!!

My GT4 prize pack consisted of a lot of absolutely pointless Nissan 350Z gear stuff, just to rub in the fact that you didn't actually win the car. There's a big promo book which i assume you get if you buy the car. What the **** do i want with that???

There was 2 PS2 games, Killzone and some other game that i gave away to a sound guy i was talkin to.

After the first races, they moved over to the 2 main pods which had its sound hooked up to the PA system which wasn't too bad.

The competitiors i talked to were all real sound lads. And i did have fun racing but for such a big event, it was real baddly run!!!

I'd like to hear what other poeple think bout that. Am i being to anal?
