Ok. One last thread here.
Opening a GT4 Drifting forum within the GT4 forum could allow drifters to begin planning ahead and arranging battles etc etc..

My goal is to catch the mods' or admin's attention, so if you chose, "no," we'd all like to here why.

:O

I don't think that it's necessary as we should wait until the game has been released so people can get used to driving, let alone drifting. A drifting forum now is likely to be full of speculation and rubbish comments. So no, wait until the game is out.

That would be a waste of space, we already have a drifting forum, all they would have to do is Re-title it and move it to it's own thread. All it would do is make confusion and double posts anyway, because people who haven't seen gt4 yet wouldn't be able to post their gt3 drift vids there.

So just make a general Gran Turismo Drifting forum, life would be much easier.

its a good idea but its a tad early, were still quite a few months away from the game. and me, personally, im gonna steer clear of GTP for at least a month once i get GT4. once i get the game im gonna play it for a while, get into it, win some cars, get my garage all nice and tuned....master the physics of the game...THEN come back to GTP once im in the know....im gonna learn things on my own about the game before i come back...itll be too much of a hassle to transfer back and forth through GTP and the game in my early stages.

"Quite a few months"?
My point with this is so people can plan ahead and stuff.

I agree with you though; I won't go near GTP for month or two after GT4's release.

Thats the best and only option for this topic. Why make another forum when theres already one here on GTP.

I seriously doubt I will create another forum, aside from the fact that it is still much too early.

I would suggest changing GT3 Drifting to just GT Drifting and move it up one level.

Why would they move it.
That would be stupid.
The GT3 Drifting forum accounts for almost one third of the posts made in the GT3 Forum, and just because GT4 is out (whenever it's out) doesn't mean that everyone is going to quit drifting in GT3.

Changing GT3 Drifting to some general "GT Drifting" name would confuse things immensly.

So what if it accounts for 1/3 of the GT3 posts? What difference does that make? You're stupid. And I never said people would quit drifting in GT3.

And if you think making a general GT Drifting forum would be confusing, maybe you are just too simple minded.

Stupid.

Thank you for agreeing, though you seem to be stealing my idea (:

Almost none of you even post in the GT3 drifting forum, so please consider what you guys are suggesting before you suggest it.

"One drifting forum for the entire GT series is enough."

What justifies saying that, and are any of you aware at how many problems that will create?

Two questions.

This would condense the all the GT games into one forum, thus reducing the amount of for example, GT2 drifting babble outside of it. How many problems you say? I'm intrigued. Do go on.

That's basically like condensing all of the Gran Turismo forums (1, 2, 3, etc) into one giant forum were each thread is as irrelivant as the next.

I believe I mentioned this, but I'll say it again; The GT3 Drifting forum makes up for almost a third (1/3rd) of the 172,000 posts made in the GT3 General forum, where all GT3 related posts are made. The GT3 Drifting forum is merely a subcatagory and accounts for over 47,000 posts made in the GT3 forum.

Compiling every drift forum into one is a ridiculous idea and in no way does it promote an outcome to the topic originally posted.

My suggestion was to create a GT4 Drifting forum where where people could converse and exchange idea's and create battle schedules, but if nobody cares about planning for the future, then fuc- this. I'm not gonna waste my time continuing this unless someone has something positive to say.

I'll check back in a couple days.

I'm positive about these stats (as of 0615 today)...

GT3 Drifting - 47509 Posts

On-Line Racing - 54316 Posts

"Real" drivers rule.

Right, nice attitude to "promote" your idea with to the owner...

It would confuse you immensely.

LM had the answer all along, rename "GT3 Drifting" "GT Drifiting" and move it up.
I assume what scares you is a mess of threads all talking about a different installment of the series, but ask yourself: how many people really drift in GT1 or GT2? You'd practically be condensing just two games into one forum, both of which are on the same console, and with the possibility of one of those games to be dropped over time. If anybody wants to speak of GT 1-3 Drifting when GT4 will be "what's hot", I say let them. It won't be that many people anyway.

Battle schedules can be done in the Teams Forum.
If anybody wants to exchange ideas they can do it in the GT4 Forum, such threads will get buried once GT4 comes out anyway.
Rename and move up. That's all there is to it.

And since this isn't a "positive" post I'd expect you to keep this subject to yourself already.

My thoughts on the subject don't carry much weight, considering that Jordan has already given his thoughts on the subject.

I will however offer a few small suggestions. Yes, they wil upset a few, but please others. To modify JFK's wisdom, you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people, all the time.

My thoughts are that GT1, GT2 and GTC be moved into one forum called "Past GT games" in which any post older than a year, be archived and removed from the site. Therefore saving bandwidth. The GT3 forum stays as is. Although I do think that any post older than 2 years or longer than 100 posts could be removed from the site. At that point, the Gran Turismo section of the forums could be separated out into Past GT games, GT3 and GT4. Yes, this would inevitably cause some members to whine about their post count suddenly vanishing.

Under each one of these sites would be the forum, along wth a Settings and Drifting discussion forum. The Write-ups can be integrated into the GT3 forums. Same as with GT4 should they continue to be posted. I'd say a sub forum under GT4 could include GT4P.

As for OLR, it can pretty much stay the same. We'll each have to label the game choice when we make the challenge. Hence, GT4, GT3, GT4P and so on.

My overall goal with these suggestions, would be to eleminate some of the excess info contained here. A smaller forum means less strain on the server. If this were the plan of attack Jordan aimed for, It'd be nice to have these forums in place before the release of GT4, and on the day it becomes available, he could simply click it from "Admin viewable Only" to "Member viewable."

So street fighter, if you're going to ask for something in regards to the site and you want to spam in an attempt to get everyone to see it, I suggest you sit back and think of any serious benefit your suggestion might have to Jordan. Would you be willing to sacrifice some other part of the site to have this available?

Just my thoughts.

AO

I'm not trying to benefit the mods here, and, no, I would not be willing to sacrifice some other part of this site to create a new forum. That would be nonsensical.

Why not eliminate some of the other excess information that doesn't relate to this site in the least, like Computers & Electronics, Digital Art Help, Artistic Competitions, Photography & Graphics, Opinions, Music Movies & TV, etc. etc... stuff that accounts for over 137,000 post of off topic garbage.

This bickering no longer interests me.

I had an idea that could benefit some people, but everyone I wasn't suggesting this for felt the need to chew it up and spit it out, and nobody who voted in the drifters' favor had anything to say in defense of all this.

Congrats guys...

Whats wrong with that stuff? If you wanted a forum site that was just for gran turismo only you shoulda went somewhere else.

Am I missing something there?

Yes. Everything on GTP doesnt have to deal with GT. Thats what makes this site so great. You can discuss GT, music, games, etc all in one place.
