Jesus, has everyone caught onto this pink text deal?

No, only you guys

oops what am i doing:boggled:

Are we gonna have to do drifting to get to 100%? I hope not cause I'm not too good at drifting.

And I have yet to play it, TwinTurbo...

I guess if you want to get a feel for drifting in GT4 (I am a novice), I'd say get accustomed to it by looking at Initial D. It will give you an idea of how exciting it can be to opposite lock your car out. Then practice up in rally for GT2 and GT3. Then kind of combine the two, and you get drifting. There's some MEAN drifts in the GTPlanet video collection. So take a look if you have Windows Media Player.

How could we possibly know that? The game isn't out yet!

I hope not either, not because I can't do it. I'm OK at it, but I don't want to be forced to do it. I like the idea of a "Drifting Competition" that maybe rewards credits, and/or car parts, but's it. Let's say a 1st place finish gets you 2,500 credits and a racing exhaust system or set of hard racing tires, 2nd place 1,000 credits and a racing flywheel or stage one turbo and 3rd place gets 250 credits and that stupid keychain or an oil change, like in GT3, ha-ha!

Not everyone enjoyed being forced to do all the enduro's or the Pro Vitz cup in GT3, ut you still ave to do them. If it's part of the GT universe mode it will be needed for a 100% complete and rightfully so as all the other races and competitions are.

What is the "GT universe mode?"

I'm still unclear to how they can actually rate your drifting performance. Time + what? It seems like a very complicated thing to do just for a small part of the game, don't you think?

GT Universe is the new name for the Gran turismo mode.

Uh, I didn't know that. Is this in a magazine, or something? So, no more "Simulation" and "Arcade" modes?

KY said he'd re-named it that to give some idea to the increased scope of the game compared to previouse GT's. but the Arcade mode will still be there.

Thankseveryone for replying.. but i was asking if anyone knew fa shizie (for sure) wut it wuz gonna be like... lol i didnt mean for this thread to turn in to this... i apologize to whoever hosts this site...:guilty:

It will be done in a similar way to the D1 rules in real life KY confirmed that in a recent interview.

I don't know if I made a post to this topic, but let me tell you. Maybe I said that there should be a tutorial in the game to help racers tune cars for drifting. I tend to think that RWD cars make great drifters, but 4WD can be a little hard. The 4WD cars include, but are not limited to, rally cars. I still think the Mazda RX-7 RZ and Ruf RGT make good drifters in GT3. I raced the R32 Skyline as a drifter, and in all black (like the Night Kids R32 from "Initial D"). If that's not good enough, then when you set your car up, you may elect to have two sets of settings. One is a recommended setting list for your road racing, the other for rally and drifting. Just some ideas, but I really don't have anything special to mention here.

The Tommy K ZZII was a great 4WD car for drifting. I like the TVR Tuscan Speed 6, fully loaded for drifting.

I still don't have a clue has to how PD are going to "judge" drifts in GT3. live4speed said something about D1. I have no idea what that is, do you? My next issue of PSM should come any day now and I hope they will shed some light into this GT Universe mode and drifting contests.

I know one thing. I will buy either an RX-7 RZ or an R32 Skyline (that's funny, I prefer a Skyline other than the R34). And who knows? I just may want to have a black R32 like in Initial D with Night Kids. Who knows? Maybe I want a "hachi-roku" (86, as in AE86) Trueno in white, but I'm more of a red guy.

Of course, don't think that I'm relying on fiction to have fun in a GT game. It helps to be aware of these machines, because you can draw your enthusiasm for some car. Like, I'm sending this one out to my muscle car fans. How about having a black, 1970 Barracuda like in "The Fast and Furious?" Or maybe "Elanor," the GT500 of "Gone in Sixty Seconds?" They may not make good drift cars, but I'm just showing that some of the machines from fiction may play a good part in what cars you can race in GT4. I didn't want to validate my point about the "Initial D" cars, but I wanted to, as an expressive person. So, I still think drifting is a great idea. I loved sliding my car out (as long as I could control it). If you want to configure cars to have more drift or more grip, only "Rage Racer" did that. As a consideration, there should be three configurations to choose from in Arcade mode. One mode is Racing or Grip, the second mode is "Balance" which balances Drift and Grip specifications, and the third mode is "Drift." Anyhow, if Drifting is a serious guarantee, I'll have to learn how to better approach the inside of a corner for a more accurate drift, while staying just inside the turns.

Yeah I've always liked the R32 better than the R33 or R34, looks far cooler imo. Truenos & Levins also look better in red, even if Initial D is cool :D

hey guys, i beat gt3 and now i've started on learning to drift and i'm getting quite good. but anyway, i hope the drifting of gt4 is nothing like nfsu. it was way too easy!! i'd rather have to learn, practice, and master the technique of it then just to be able to hit the gas, turn, and wa la. In nfsu, you barely had to counter-steer at all. Basically i'm just saying that i hope they don't make the drifting too easy. in the previous games, not every one could drift. it took skill.

In GT4-P, a stock R34 on street tires is an awesome drift car. The Evo VIII gets a LOT of rotation on initial turn in, but once you are on the throttle, it straightens itself out a bit too quick.

if you want to try balls to the wall drifting - take a 1000hp supra around the complex string in GT3 - the BIG alternating 200+ degree turns can each be taken sideways :)

I hope GT4 is closer to reality on sim tyres. Then a normal car would be good enough for me. The trueno on sim tyres, untweaked, was good fun, but there are a few crucial holes in their tyre physics that make it a little weird (speaking from real world experience).

With a wheel you can easily hold the stock trueno in a powerslide through most of those big C curves (excluding the end ones :p).

I think drifting in GT4 would be a nice addition. It doesn't hurt what's already there, but does add another option. More choice is always good. Competition drifting isn't my style, but it's a nice way to show off car control at low speed (or for fwd drifting, high speed :p).

If you say you can't drift a fwd, you haven't driven a 205 gti. "liftin' is driftin'" ;)

It won't. I dont have any source on that but just take my word on it for this one.:trouble:

sorry for kinda goin off topic...

drifting has been around since b4 most of us were born...

it was introduced in the earliest F1 Series(i think?) by some guy..i forgot his name - saw it on discovery channel

he did it on the tightest corner of some track and his co-driver(?) was freakin out going "wth was that!?"

but anywaiz it was bak in the day in like 1930 something...

i thnk that makes drifting apart of racing...but not in its own niche...just a way to get arounda corner.

but still apart of racing none-the-less.

There wuz a guy who used to drift a lot back in the day... his name was Jochen Rindt. Really popular F1 driver from the 60's died in a crash.. at monsa i think
