The European version's classical music was awful.Excellent pieces of music ruined by the fact that they were probably originally intended to be used in elevators. Not full orchestration, just muzak.

I just listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin now while driving/racing.No wait,I always have done.Led Zeppelin IV:Best music to listen to while playing a Gran Turismo game.

Playing GT4 going around the ring my 800bhp Supra was fun, but it was some song i didn't wich braught my experience down. But in Forza when i went around the ring in my Nissan Silvia, i think like 350bhp, listening to Dream Theater that i uploaded, really gives you a better experience.

there's nothing like rocketing down a long straight at a blistering clip with a quick FR, only to stomp on the brakes to bang down a couple gears and pitch the rear out for a quick drift through a series of tight essess, with James Brown saying, "i got soul--and i'm super bad"... 👍

I still think "Slip and Slide" is pretty cool for off-road racing. I have some strange link between hip-hop and off-road racing, especially more upbeat hip-hop. "Slip and Slide" is more of breakbeat than hip-hop, but there's a strange link for me between the two to me. I have a few of old school rap, so I'll have to sample certain older songs with rally. Circuit racing is more of electronica and some rap for me. Of course, you have no control over what songs you want to have for a certain track. Imagine being able to pick a certain song for a certain track, or even select songs for one track or style of racing. In terms of available songs I've liked for a certain GT, GT4 is up there with GT1. GT1's variety compared to GT4 may be limited, but many of the songs are good for any track you race on in GT1. My only real favorites in GT2 were "Super Bon Bon" and "Cold Rock the Mic." I'm going to be honest. GT3 kind of had the worst music choices. They were good while they lasted. I may still bump "Dogg Turismo 3" or anything of Daiki Kasho's, but other than that, I think GT3 had the worst music selection.

If I said GT2 had the worst, my apologies. I meant GT3.

Well, I certainly thank PD for the inclusion of the jukebox feature! Through that I can edit out any music I don´t want, and I can also decide when the music should play (I only have music on during replays).
But I do look forward to be able to include my very own soundtrack (Slayer, Pantera, Testament all the way!), since plain rock just don´t give a big enough thrill, and hip hop has absolutley no place in racing (but in ricing...) whatsoever, but can in some cases (Eminem or Snoop Dog) be enjoyable on parties (in my world, that is).
On a sidenote, I must say PD did a great job on the music in GT4. Just imagine how hard it must be to pick music that a great deal of people will find listenable, and even great to drive to!

I must admit that I really like the music in GT4. By having a nice wide range of music types means there's something for everyone. I've found that I ripped all the music off and I listen to it quite a bit on my PC.

Actually, about half of it is really good. Daiki Kaisho rocks very well in this version. Jeff Beck and Satriani are also good to listen to while making a deft pass. And except for the overly long Star Trekie intro, Moon over the Castle (short version) is the best. During races, the only music is that of the engine and the road.

It's thanks to you, your site, and the software that I am able to listen to the GT4 soundtrack anytime, anywhere.

👍

:)

thers about 3 tracks I like in gt4, much prefered the music in gt3, with the usa version being better than the uk, love the snoop dogg song and judas priests turbo lover, now if they had the soundtrack that was on wipeout one for psx i'd be in my element. Also prefered the intro music to japanese gt4 than either uk or usa.

love the snoop dogg song and judas priests turbo lover,

Turbo Lover is an awesome song to drive to!! In GT4 I have music turned off when racing - I mean, who has their stereo on when lapping the 'Ring?? (TG's Stig aside...). I only notice the music when taking photos from replays - some good songs, mostly unrecognisable and bland stuff though.

IF I am going to listen to music while driving - I stick a CD in nearby -stops me falling asleep in endurance races.

ive got to say, the music in GT4 is a bit better than in GT3......Moon Over the Castle (both versions) is an incredible incredible for racing, it really gets you going.....

one some they should have used is "Highway Star" by Deep Purple.....and of course, there has to be some Queen in there too (Don't Stop Me Now is a must have...was voted best driving song in Top Gear).....same with The Offspring, they have a few that would be good.....

only have the music turned on in replays.......other then that, if i want music, i just grab my ipod and theres everything i could want :D

You know... when I first heard "Moon Over the Castle" (by the way, the first time anyone in America or maybe Europe heard this popular Gran Turismo theme song in GT4, I almost wanted to cry. I almost wanted to cry because the music coupled with the beautiful Ford GT Race Car made a beautiful combination. Sometimes, my eyes want to water up when I hear the theme song and look at the intro. Wonder what PD got planned for GT5's intro...

Something just as dramatic and emotional I would hope.

Funny, Over The Moon's origin was in a PlayStation World video freebie, and it was used in the preview video for Gran Turismo 3. Anyone else see it? Might have been just a UK/Europe thing

Yes, the verry beging of the game is so spectacular, i hacn't seen anything like it, even F.E.A.R.'s beging didn't look taht good, it was soo, soo... perfect. PB did a great job there. 👍

The music individually is ok, and Moon Over The Castle (Orchestral) is ****ing brilliant, but that track aside...it just does not belong in Gran Turismo. Therefore it's not good, they need to put in proper driving music...preferably a bit more rock (real rock from back in the day)..and something from now, just nothing too poppy or ballardy that doesn't fit.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Moon Over the Castle THE theme song for Gran Turismo?

Judas Priest's Turbo Lover was brilliant in GT3, however Freewheel Burning, while nice, wasn't.

Rob Zombie's Two-Lane Blacktop would have been great as well as maybe even AC/DC's classic Highway to Hell.

I must say it is really odd, but cool, to be driving a RUF RGT around Monaco with Rock 'N' Roll Soldiers 'Funny Little Feeling' playing in the background!

That I feel is a really good driving song.

GT4's soundtrack is alright, but I have to say I prefer GT3's.

And sort of on topic (but not really) who else misses GT3's race menu? In my opinion it was the only menu in a GT game that has really worked well. I really wish Polyphony had stuck with the old menu system for GT4.

As for GT5, I am hoping and praying for the inclusion of custom soundtracks. Hopefully the development team will throw a good in game soundtrack together as well. Sandstorm by Darude would be AWESOME for a battle on the 'ring.

I actually love the setup of PGR a lot better in this sense... having the choice of multiple "radio stations" to get your music from seems like a cooler idea to me. I hope that GT5 has the ability to use custom soundtracks, or something similar to that, allowing you to listen to what *you* want when you race.

I turned the music off awhile ago, and I like that better. I like the sound of the cars. Though I do hope that they have a type of music setup so that I can listen to my own music.

I've never understood music and racing. Music while driving down the highway, cruising through town, that's fine. It's why I've blown a grand and some on car stereo equipment. But in racing, it's distracting. The sounds I need are the engine and the road. When do I shift? Am I going too fast through this turn? Am I eating my rear tires through wheelspin? I get all that info from the sound, and with music on, that sound is cluttered up. So music is off for me. Even for replays. It's just distracting.
As for ripping it and playing it outside the game, I haven't done that, because most of the music I like on the game disc I've already got.

In real life racing, music is just pain in the ass,you can`t hear many important things, what wfooshee wroted here. But in GT i think that music relaxes me and i can drive/drift without bother! When i play GT i always play music from my PC,it is much better!

yeah perhaps they could do something like play music and your cars sound differently so you hear the song and the music. not just coming all at once

I quite like the fact that PD gave us a broad range of music to choose from. In my view, the Jukebox is an absolute god send. I've chosen around a third of the available tracks to be on my playlist. What I like most is that the selection of songs given by PD isn't what you'll hear on mainstream radio, or on MTV....

In fact, most of the GT soundtracks have been good in the way that the music on offer isn't the mainstream crap that in a couple of years, you'll cringe at thinking, "Wow, I once listened to that crap."

Whilst I don't race with music on in GT4, there's been a couple of times at local track days in the real world where I've used a song to be my 'lap stopwatch', simply by restarting a song over the start/finish of a lap.

As unconventional as it may seem, it's a very good indicator as to how quick the lap is at any one point, with gear changes, braking points and apexes generally co-inciding with the song at specific parts of the track.

Anywho, my playlist (not in any specific order) made up mainly of rock and a few other bits thrown in, is comprised of the following:

Shatter - Feeder
Reason is Treason (Jack Knife Remix) - Kasabian
Nothing Wrong - Jimmy Eat World
Freewheel Burning - Judas Priest
Stalemate - Hundred Reasons
B is for Brutus- The Hives
Uptight - The Hives
Live in a Box - Spiderbait
Runaround - Arlo
Emerge (Dave Clarke Remix) - Fischerspooner
Trash Technology - Warren Suicide
Animalised - X-RAY SUN
Don't think the way they do - Span
Psychosis Safari - The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster
Wow - Snow Patrol
In the Limelight - Whitey
I Only Want You - Eagles Of Death Metal
Go With The Flow - Queens of the Stoneage
Bigtime - The Soundtrack Of Our Lives
Mother One Track Mind - The Soundtrack Of Our Lives
Hell Above Water - Curve
Drain The Blood - The Distillers
Forget - differentGear
Apology for Non-Symmetry - Chronic Future
Car Crash - Dirty Americans
Funny Little Feeling - Rock'n'Roll Soldiers
Gameplan - Mr.Natural
Nitro - Dieselboy + Kaos
Not Listening - Papa Roach
Roll Over DJ - Jet
Can't Get Enough - The Infadels
I Predict a Riot - Kaiser Chiefs
Michael - Franz Ferdinand
Swollen Summer - The Bravery

Some of it's alright (Panama, Nothingwrong, Apology for Non-Symmetry, Don't Mean A Thing, etc). The rest is crap.
