GT4 needs more smoke from the tires!

Ok, first post here.

I wish there would be LESS smoke.. Have you seen a "drifting" contest in real life, and did you see alot of smoke then? If so, they drifted bad...

Secondly, I agree with the above, physics and AI is the main thing to worry about. I am quiten taken about how it perform as it does right now...quite unbeliveble with what is at hand. ProjectGR2? Half the framerate....even though it look great in stills.(and having nurburgring) it loses many things being able to perform half the framerate of gt3.

in the european world it is a steady 25fps...and that is compared to 50fps using gt3 or GTC. Makes quite a difference in handeling, and experience.

I couldn´t care less about smoke really...I would even vote to drop it all together, if it ment better AI...priorites buds, ;)

take care!

a little more smoke would be OK, but I just hope they change the tire squealing sound. I find it very annoying, repetitive and unrealistic.

Thomas, as I understand it, you said that more smoke is bad in drift. That is the most ignorant and flagrently incorrect thing I have ever heard. Have YOU seen a drift competition? I have. And you know what judges like to see? MORE SMOKE!
On a lighter note, the Playstation 2 is simply not capable of producing the kind of particle effects that we all want. But, lucky for us, the Playstation 3 will be out in a year and a half or so, and GT5 will be out to kick the **** out of the next Xbox a year or two after that.
Microsoft already made the mistake of releasing a musclehead console and because of it, they are selling consoles at below cost. That is why they care so much about people cracking them. Imagine a bunch of people running racks full of those things and only having to pay a couple hundred bucks for each one.
And by the way, I have not seen a game that actually beats GT in any way. Some people say that Project Gothem 2 looks better. HA! I have almost never seen such a low framerate!
Sorry to rant.

 PGR2 is locked @ 30fps & is still higher than a significant number of PS2 games. Plus PGR2 doesn't seem to get any slowdown whereas many PS2 games do...

Oh yeah I take it you've never played GT1/GT2

:banghead:

georgeymoney, your a dumb ass.

Sure it will :P

*in the style of georgeymoney* "Some people say your actually smart. HA! I have almost never heard anyone talk such crap". IF we are gonna talk low frame rates, low res, and bad textures, just look at 90% of the PS2's games library. *looks at the getaway, with it's yoyo frame rate*

Why don't people like this just stay on the US ps forums ;)
I just hate it when people talk crap about games they don't even own or have any idea about.

Dear Gran Turismo 4 team,
dont listen to the people asking for smoke, please just focus on graphics quality not particle effects or things of that nature!

Yes!! That's it ... even better graphics we need, and more spectators running around on the track too !!

Perhaps you could just buy a racing video and watch it :p

This enough smoke for you?
This is a real in game pic of the tire smoke too. (no joke)
*Wonders how many people will believe him.*

man would i love that, every track would have blackmarks everywhere. but that will never happen

i do remember a thread posted a while ago showing pictures of a chrysler prowler doing donuts and the smoke looked a little more realistic than it did in gt3.

I couldn't agree with you more! I'm placing a lot of my hopes on aural improvements alone in this game. 👍

I also think that more smoke would be more realistic. I always go to the Test Course and do donuts and burnouts, so that would be a plus.

How about more smoke in the replays only? You usually don't notice it that much when racing.

Tire smoke is good for the soul.

Check this out.

If you look carefully in the bottom right, you can see the head of the local tyre dealer rubbing his hands with glee.

I think he's reaching for a bite at his hotdog..

^rotfl.

smoke from drifting only comes from using power over....if you watch some vids there isnt THAT much smoke....

oh and has anyone seen that vid of that truck with the supercharged turbocharged super diesel engine with like 2000hp or some crazy stuff.....

the smoke from its burnout is INSANE. it took up the whole part of the racetrack and the grandstands.
