This is about the new gt4 pics posted here a couple days back. Some say the pics are art. Art? Why would be the dev's be worried about some art, when there are things to be done for the game. That's just a waste of time and development. I do believe those pics are replay captures. I have compared the pics to the lastest vids, I tried my best. Ofc, the quality of the vids weren't as good as the pics but the quality was close, very close. And the vids are low-res. Those pics show how gt4; the latest build looks in motion. I guess ppl think different, because the pics are from the devs  I guess most trust sites for captures. But blowing a 312x240 image to 640x520 is not a smart idea. And most of the sites use analog tv's. So basically, I'm saying this is how gt4 will look in motion

I play gt4p on a digital tv and I must say, it looks amazing and it looks exactly like the gt4p pics pd put on the net. Art my ass

If we went by the logic of some ppl, no offense, every gt4 pic from pd would be art, or doctored.

There's a day and night difference between pic 1 and pic 2. You'd have to be blind to miss that...

That's true rock, I'm not trying to compare the 2 pics, just showing all how sites can be the ones who mislead ppl.

The top pic is edited, it looks better than the bottom pic. What is so hard to ujnderstand about PD doctoring some of the pics to make them look better, it's happened for GT1, GT2 and GT3 so why is it so hard to beleive it's happening for GT4.

You're showing how the first pic has been doctored and the 2nd one hasn't. The 2nd one is how GT4 will look.

Where's Thread when you need him?

He has a point though that the in game graphics are still going to be very impressive. All games edit some pictures as a marketing ploy.

They're not going to be "very impressive." They are going to be slightly better than GT3 & GTC.

They're only going to be "very impressive" in the sense that GT3 & GTC's graphics are very impressive.

I have Prologue, and I must say that it looks like the first picture. The second picture looks like a grab from Prologue taken with a cheap capturing device set on low res without deinterlacing on, and with the aspect ratio set to 16:9. Which I am in fact pretty sure it is.

The first picture is however how the game looks in motion when you play the game with a SCART cable connected to the TV. Based on the videos we've seen I'm sure that some of the pictures we've seen which have enormous parts of the background scenery are concept art, but the one with the Renault posted here above looks like the game does in the Hong Kong vids, if you were to see it at the correct resolution. I made a high quality high-res vid of a run at Grand Canyon and you'd be amazed how much detail still disappears compared to the original game.

Finally, since it was announced that GT4 would support progressive scan, I'll be pretty interested to see what that will look like.

Thing is on a PC it will look like pic 2 in its native resolution without interlacing. Its the same as if you run GT1 or 2 with an emulator on a PC with its intended resolution (around 320*240 I believe). However it doesn't look this bad on a TV because TV's aren't the same quality as PC monitors, so they do well in hiding the 'jaggies' etc... To me this was particually noticable upgrading from RF cable (hardly any 'jaggies' but blurry) to RGB Scart (Sharp & 'jaggies' apparent)

To combat this PD creates higher res pics with AA to show how they hope the game would look on your TV (to a degree) although as can be seen in GT1,2,3 the promo shots often look better than the final game. (As did many of the GT : P promo shots)

The bottom line is this :

Get your eyes tested cobra

Dont joke, T, I'm not joking. Why can't you be mature. Now that pic that live claims to be edited is from the latest build, I'm sure you all know that. That other pic that looks like ass, if from gt4p. GT4p doesnt look at that bad at all. My point is, pics from devs are the best justice for a game and I dont think the pic is edited at all. That is a capture from a replay shot. Why do I say this, because if you try and compare the pics to the new vids, you see they both have the same presentation. I can honestly say, after playing gt4p on a digital tv with components, that every gt4p pics pd has release was not misleading. You dont not notice jaggies while the game is in motion. Why the hell would pd make, what, 22 promo shots? Gt4 has upgraded from gt3 by a big step, not a leap but a big step. Whoever said it didn't, and it looks like gt3, needs to wipe the acid from their eyes. I can't take daan serious, because he thinks, a old build, rather demo is the representation of gt4's final graphics.

could you prove that? GT4 will have p scan? That would be very good.

And to you ppl who think I'm bull ****ing. Have you tried to compare the dev pics to the vids? I know I have and everything looks the same. I just compare scenes of the vids to the same scenes of the dev pics and I can truthfully say, gt4 will look like those pics when in motion.

Well I guess the new vids are doctored because everything looks the same, pics and vids.

...are much better than what most other sites can capture (those without black borders)

I disagree, assuming pics like this are IGN's own captures:

LMFAO@this pic's source link

I guess I have been proven wrong. Those are great, but that gt4p. I hope ign can do good captures of the new gt4 build.

There's also the difference of playing on a normal TV, a HDtv and a PC monitor with VGA adaptor. You'll all see an incredible increase in graphic quality.

My friend has this hdtv where you can hook you pc in it. WE watched the gt4 vids I can honestly say, the pics are accurate. The pics are not bs. He has the new wmp, the HD one. Makes vids look as good as dvds.

mostly to get a good screenshot, it's just a matter of taking it when there is little on screen movement, a steady camera or even a car that's parked in a nice place. I can demonstrate later.

Please do, as i can take crappy gamespot-like pics with my winfast tv 2000 xp tv-card (s-video) but not good pics that'd do any justice for that game.

would that track happen to be grand valley east?

I have to dissagree with the looks, I have all that and and GT4:P doesn't look much better than GT4, the scenery is better but thats pretty much it, the cars are identical to the ones in GTC. And I've seen the hong Kong vids and that pic looks much higher res and has much more anti aliasing imo.

Hi Menglan,

The track in pic 2 is Dijon-Prenois. This (real) circuit is located in the south of France. This is on this side of the ocean ;-) where they make good but overpriced wine.;)

It was? When? Where? I read an article/interview with Kaz, and he said no progressive output.

Ah, I guess it doesn't matter, to me, anyway. I have an HDTV set, see my avatar, with a scaler. But, I still would like to read it for myself, though.
