Well PD and SCEI has done it again! The pushback of GT4 will cause deep depression for most of the fans of this legendary game. ; )
I'm just as bummed-out as you guys are, but i'm kind of glad it happend. This now ensures (as said in the article) that GT4 will now become more of a complete car game. And if PD is indeed hiding certain aspects of the game from us, This one will be better than all of the GT games combined.

Who cares? It's only a game. It'll be out when it's ready.

Well I guess its official now!? I suppose this will make for a better game but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't really upset. 2005 can't come soon enough!!.... F@#$... I just can't believe it!!!

Eric

It had BETTER not be a long delay. They want to have a big "were done the game party"..well...the game better be done. And this better be a small shipping issue.

If I see a US date of Feb. , Im gonna flip.

:ouch: Now the game BETTER be online when it ships or we all march up to PD headquarters in Japan pitch forks in hands and tell them what we think. Damn, I can't take this anymore, I NEED GT4 more than I need food and water.

Sony Computer Entertainment America is steadfast in our commitment to producing a superior product and is confident that the launch of Gran Turismo 4 will set a new benchmark for all other racing games to follow.

New benchmark as in: "The racing game with the longest delay of release ever"

:)

I feel the same way.... hey fellow british columbian :)

this game will never see light and day... if they continue to keep pushing... they will push it to be a launch title for PS3 >.<

Man, for guys that know how to make a reall good racing game, PD sure does NOT have their **** together. They gotta be the most unorganized guys in the video game industry!

I really wish we would organize some kinda revolt where everyone from GTPlanet simply doesn't buy GT4 on the first day it comes out ... everyone waits til the 2nd or something (cause lets be honest, as much as we hate it, we're all still going to buy it).

Could someone post that article (c/p) here? I couldn't access that page cause it's forbidden from work (game site). Thanks.

Damn, this sucks... but strangely, not surpriseing.

here it is:

November 18, 2004 - There was worry in the Gran Turismo crowd last night. After we posted This Story stating that the Japanese version of Gran Turismo 4 would be delayed in Japan until December 28 of this year, the letters started pouring in regarding its U.S. release date. Sure everyone knew that it was likely that GT4 would now slip into next year here in the States, but there was no confirmation of it.

There is now.

In a statement released by Sony Computer Entertainment America this morning, the U.S delay of Gran Turismo 4 was officially authenticated.

"The release of Gran Turismo 4, originally set for December 14th, 2004, will change to the first quarter of calendar year 2005," said Ron Eagle, Public Relations Manager, SCEA. "With Gran Turismo 4, the company is
committed to providing consumers with the most complete racing game built
to date. Natural challenges with finalizing all the key features and
localization issues across worldwide territories have led to the difficult
choice of pushing back the release date in order to ensure that Gran
Turismo 4 lives up to the exacting standards of the 36 million-plus fans
worldwide that have purchased previous versions of our best-selling
franchise."

Eagle continued, "The Gran Turismo series has helped to define car culture and its fans have come to expect superior attention to detail combined with revolutionary technology that delivers unmatched graphics, realistic car physics, and an authentic racing experience that exceeds any previous racing title. Sony Computer Entertainment America is steadfast in our commitment to producing a superior product and is confident that the launch of Gran Turismo 4 will set a new benchmark for all other racing games to follow. With the history of the franchise and high consumer anticipation, Gran Turismo 4 still serves as an important part in Sony Computer Entertainment America's upcoming first party lineup."

We'll see you in 2005 old buddy!

IGN will keep you updated with any further developments (like a solid U.S. release date) as soon as it becomes available.
