The European version is always the last version released. Well for GT1/2 and 3 anyway.

That's why I ordered the Japanese version, plus deciphering the menus adds that extra fun factor.

Do you have a chip in your ps2?
Well , you maybe need to patch the game.

I still believe that GT4 online is the game they are referring to by first quarter 2005, but i'm not discounting another delay.
Yeah ,the online mode isn't so important.
December is the official realese date by PD.
There can not be another delay until december 3rd.

As far as I can tell from various sources, it will be 3 Dec for Japan and 14 Dec everywhere else.

Gran Turismo 4 coming to US December 14, minus online
Upcoming racing sim to be offline only; online driving will be part of another GT game planned for next year.

TOKYO--Last week, reports from Japan indicated that Gran Turismo 4 had been delayed until "winter," which possibly could have meant a 2005 release.

But at a press conference held during the first day of the Tokyo Game Show, Sony and Polyphony Digital announced that Gran Turismo will indeed arrive this year on both sides of the Pacific. The game will first hit store shelves in Japan on December 3, followed by a tentative North American and European release on December 14.

Unfortunately, the news was not all good. Sony and Polyphony also revealed that Gran Turismo 4 will not have an online racing mode. That functionality is planned for a new Gran Turismo game, tentatively planned for release in 2005.

While at the Tokyo Game Show, GameSpot got a chance to test-drive Gran Turismo 4's newly announced B-Spec mode. Read our brand-new hands-on to hear how it handled.

New info. Is this a reliable site ?

Sony UK has confirmed that Gran Turismo 4 has slipped into 2005 in Europe. The publisher had been hoping to release the game in December of this year - having scrapped the game's online features in order to try and make the deadline - but now it appears that localisation issues have proven insurmountable.

"We can confirm that GT4 will now be released in Q1 2005 for Europe," the publisher told Eurogamer this morning. "The localisation of GT4 across the PAL territories is a huge undertaking because the product is localised into 13 different languages across the PAL territories, therefore the process takes considerably longer than it does in Japan. The GT brand strives for perfection, therefore we need to ensure that the localisation and testing of the product is done to the highest possible standard."

Give me a ****ing break

Hehehe, ANOTHER delay.

I'm really surprised that if this is true, it wasn't spotted like 12 months ago. It's not like this is something that changes all the time, or is usually a buggy area. It's plain text for gods sake, just in different languages.

OK, we got a delay because of multiplayer and things, which are now not in so the game CAN meet the christmas release, but now it can't again.

Do PD actually know what they are doing?

I can just see it now....

"Erm, hang on, I just selected Spanish and it's still all in English...", "Oh yeah!!!, you've got to translate all that to 13 different european languages" "oooooopps, best push it forward 3 months" "Now you haven't forgotten anything else have you?" "No, pretty sure this time"

Duh

Dave

I reckon GT4 doesn't exist, KY used all the development money to produce GT4P and a few demos and then kept the rest to build up his car collection.
Now every time Sony ring up asking how it's going he just gives them a new excuse.

Or maybe not...

:odd:

Well then it's time to lear us some english. And wtf?! 13 different languages?
It was only French-english-duetsch (sp?)-spanish-italian as I remember.
Why do we need 13 different languages for the PAL version? That's bull****.
Another good exuse.

Well atleast GTA:SA will be there :sly:
I can't get the NTSC version , I'm a Pal owner.
Well , next time , I can wait for another 5 years delay , hope he hasn't forgotten something then :grumpy:

Sony - Hey Kaz, how's it going?
KY - Yeah, I'm pretty good thanks...
Sony - So everything's fine for the European release of GT4?
KY - Well, it was...
Sony - It was? Look Kaz, you said this last year - we even bought you a spare hard drive to back up your computer in case you had any more "crashes".
KY - Of course, and I backed everything up but...
Sony - But what this time, Kaz?
KY - Well, we decided to test the Volvo 240 with GT in the back, you remember GT, my pet dog?
Sony - Yes, I remember GT. I still can't get that stain out of my favourite trousers.
KY - Well, GT was a bit sick..
Sony - A bit sick?
KY - Yeah, all over my computer as it happens...
Sony - Look Kaz, stop watching day-time TV and finish the ****in' game!

Sony - 🤬

is it just me or are Sony losing the plot big time. They seem to be losing all there major franchises, eg Colin McRae rally, Toca race driver 2 etc.. everytime I hear of new games it seems to be ''available on XBOX or PC'' no playstation. Is this the begining of the end? After all it happened to Nintendo in the early 90s and Sega in the late 90s is history repeating itself????

Is this the end of the world itself??

Yeah, but don't forget the PC is the king of the hill now tho, because despite the fact that it costs 10 times as much, the graphical quality is vastly superior and loading times are shorter, and software development is easier, etc. etc.
Te only reason the xbox is included is because unlike the GC and the PS2 it is similar to a PC. DON'T SHOOT!!!

You know what's so bad about having delays on games like GT4? It feels like someones changed your birthday or moved Christmas Day to the 25th of March!
There's SO much expectation with GT4. In small doses that's fine. But when it lasts months and months and months there comes a point when you feel like snapping and giving it the finger....
Well, I think I'll put GT4 to the back of my mind now...concentrate on other games.... :guilty:

like GT3 or Prologue, or... TOCA race driver 2 or San Andreas... There's plenty to keep us occupied...

There's no sense whining about the release. There's nothing you or I can do to change the release date.. the game will come out whenever it comes out. Dwelling on it and complaining about it changes nothing. If you're that "upset" over it, then show that to Sony by not buying the game.

I learned a long time ago not to dwell on things that are beyond my control. And I must admit, I've been much happier since then.
