GT4 Strategies: How will YOU attack the game???

I'll probably try to finish arcade mode as quickly as possible, so I have as much unlocked for multiplayer as possible. Because most of my friends won't be playing GT4 for a couple more months, and I imagine they'll want to come over and play it at my place.

I'm definantely going to go for golds before anything else. After that, I might take out arcade mode and finally get into Sim mode.

As I (unfortunately) didn't get the chance to play GT4 Prologue or any of the latest demos (living in Brazil is lame sometimes) I think I'll spend some time in Arcade Mode, just to "feel" the new physics engine, driving each kind of powertrain available to see the changes. After some practice (and some drifting, with God's blessing), I'll start Simulation mode properly (licenses - not necessarily all gold, just enough to compete in every league available) and get me a lightweight japanese FR car, not necessarily a new car, maybe something from the eigthies (can I say Trueno without being flamed as an Initial D fanboy???) and go for it.

That's the part I like about GT... starting out from nothing, without knowing what the game has in store for you. It's a pity it can't happen more often.

Tried and true formula for me; First off I go and check the carlots, just to wet my appetite, then I do the licenses. If it works like GT/GT2, the inventory of the used car lots will have changed. meaning there might be better cars to start with at that time. Pick up what I like the most, and start with the Sunday cup!

First i play some Arcade. Get a feel for th new engine and tracks. Then i go into Gran Turismo Mode, get a license or two, start racing. The to licenses, then to racing, until i'm all done.

Not sure what car i'll start out with for Gran Turismo Mode, but it'll probably be my GT1 and 2 choice, the older model Prelude. That car was awesome.

If the second hand car lots are in, ill keep browsing those until i find me an awesome FR bargain, and to pass the (ingame) days while im browsing, il probably do the license tests now. past strategies have annoyingly been to start with a poxy mx-5/miata/roadster whatever as its been the only cheap enough FR, then work up to an indulgent purchase, second car as a DB7 Vantage, so suave, so big, so much work, so much fun.

I probably won't have much time to play it (GCSE coursework and exams) so I'll probably just do arcade and leave simulation till the Summer holidays.

I'll attack the game from the rear and pummel it into submission. When that's all good and buttery I'll manhandle Arcade to get the initial excitement out of my system, then settle down with a solid stranglehold in the SIM department.

Homo-erotic anyone?

After reading the manual, I will go into every single mode including arcade, simulation, and options before I race. After that I will go and begin checking out the Arcade mode, and play a few races, just so I get the hang of it. After that I will go to the GT mode, and just get the first license necessary like B class. After I completed the B class license (don’t care if I get gold or not), I will go and buy the best car for the buck and race all the B class races. Until I need to get the A class license.

That is basically how I will do it. Also, at times I might go in and beat the Arcade mode somewhere along the line.

I can’t wait.

I still gotta learn how to drive. I just got my DFP yesterday, and I've gone from "GT Master" to "Warning: Student Driver". Methinks that's going to take a while.. hehe. I also need a stand of some sort, my coffee table just doesn't cut it, which is probably affecting my performance.

hmmmm.....i'm thinking of taking GT4 slow......like good sex.....i'm gonna treat it like a woman......slow, gentle, discovering all the secrets contained within. :sly: i'm going to first do a few free runs to get used to the physics and the feel of the game......then probably go for some gold on the licences......win a car and begin fiddling with it....no hyper-tuning.....just some small mods if i have the money and some good 'ol fashioned testing before i hit the races. i'm going to spend a lot of time learning about the cars, meaning going thru each manufacturer and reading all of the information about them and their cars........i know its gonna take a long time but hey.....i'm good at wasting it so this shouldn't be a problem. then i'm gonna review all of the components of the game short of actually racing. once i'm comfortable....hehehehehe......you can imagine the rest :)

If I'll get the asian version to work on my PS2 (fingers crossed :scared: ), I will only use it for LAN and splitscreen with friends. If I have to play it to unlock some cars, I'll do that though. But I want to save as much as possible for the localised version I'll buy next year.

And I won't make the mistake again and try to complete it as fast as possible. I think I'll start to make some of the easier gold licenses to get a car, and on that I'll build my career nice and slow. Cause when you force your way through the game, you'll sit there and wish that you had taken more time for it when you're done with it.

Cheers,
the Interceptor

i dont think il get tired of this game. until san andreas i was still playin gt3 every now and hten for a blast around a track or two. The hours ive spent drifting on that game, i pray they havnt ruined the physics engine, like from gt1 to gt2. im sorry but gt2 was shocking ot drive really. sorry, off topic, but i posted my strategy earlier, so please let me off

I'm gonna complete the license, buy JDM Cars, tuning, testing in Nurburgring, after the Ultimate Battle : Tsukuba Battle (Best MOTORing :D ).

after the Ultimate Battle : Tsukuba Battle (Best MOTORing :D ).

hehehe I like the way you think
I'm gonna live on that track and hold All Japan and Japan VS The world battles. Can't wait to hookup with some car club buddies and LAN this badboy.

now theres 2 ways i could go about gt4, first, slowly beat every license test barely but enough, then buy a cheap second hand car slowly building up the cash before i can afford a slightly better second hand car or maybe a cheap tune up and take ages doing the first series. or, whack in my action replay max, put on the all gold licenses and max money codes, swap in gt4 and blow it all on buying decent cars and tuning em to the max and going ridiculous speeds :D

MMMokay I gaot lazy and didn't finish the program. Just showing off my newbie skills :D. You get the drift, though.

My real approach: Explore, Get bronzes in Basic License, and Collectioneer away!!

First I'll start off the same way I did in GT3, go into simulation mode and browse through every car I can buy. After that.....who knows, check out the different modes probably.

This is one reason why Gran Turismo is so great, almost an infinite number of ways to play.

Welcome fangorn! Yep, I definitely agree. Some people like to just master a few cars, meanwwhile others like me need every one of them. Some like licence tests, other rally racing etc. As racing games go GT is not very linear. Of course the variety doesn't compare to something like GTA...

This time around I'm definitely going to buy a hachi roku then earn enought money to pay for all of the tune up parts that's available in this serie's. After that I'm just gonna drift, drift and drift, untile it's time to earn more money and buy a new ride to drift with. After that the cycle continues.

I'll first check the cars, tracks, events slowly and read about some cars. Then I'll play some little arcade to get used to the driving and the new tracks. After, I'll start with all gold licences, take the prize cars I will get for the golds and start building my career.

See ya :sly:

The best way to master the new engine, imo, is to work very hard on the license tests. Here is my strategy:
1. Work to get all gold trophies in all license tests
2. Use bonus cars from license tests for career racing (but first i'll go into the professional skilll level races, that way i'll have lots of money to spend)
3. Use/Upgrade bonus cars from special events, or sell them if they suck.
4. Finish Special Events
5. Finish all Dealership events
6. Finish the GT Championship Events
7. Finish arcade mode/Set Track Records

1. Get basic license(s)
2. Buy best performance used car affordable
3. do races, get money
4. buy S14 Zenki NAVAN edition
5. More races
6. Get STi, complete rally for some easy money
7. GT300. ARTA ASL Garaiya.
8. GT500. ARTA NSX.
9. LM. R390?
10. F1

Wish there was online play. Then I could take you on.

I am Gan-San, you are Takaya. Who's your daddy? :)

How would I attack GT4? I kind of go by old-time tradition. First, I'd try to fight for all my licenses, find a nice used car, win races, and then do a little technique I call "gambling." To me, "gambling" is a technique I try to use whereas I trade in my old machine for something bigger and better. Of course, I try to save before doing any of this, and I usually went for the Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO in GT1 and even GT2. And I'd keep working my way up until I have a full room of trophies and kisses from Race Queens for winning races.

As the saying goes, "there's more than one way to skin a cat." The most important deal is you go from weewnd racing car to elite race cars.

I'm never able to trade in any of my original cars because I like to keep the old beasts that got me started, I'm a bit sentimental like that. Last time I started with a couple of cheapies and then raced a fair bit with a worked Mustang and then used a Tuscan 6 speed for almost all the other races untill I started wining lots of race cars. This time I think I'll buy a used S2000 or an old RX7 or something like this early on, something that handles. Then I'm buying a SS Commodore and using that until it just can't keep up anymore, fully worked it should get me right through to when I win a race car. Then I'll start collecting muscle cars and start doing free runs. I probably wont bother finishing any parts of the game that aren't going to give me a car that I want. This time I hope you can pay to get your engine rebuilt and regain your lost worn out engine power, just like real life
