GT4 Strategies: How will YOU attack the game???

I think I'll look through all of the menus and options, reading about one's that I don't fully understand, then proceed to drive every V-8 American car I can to see if they actually SOUND like they should. After that I may get some of the basic liscences and do a little arcade-ing. Then I will hopefully be able to buy a GNX, or one the trucks and if not I'll get an older, cheaper RWD or AWD car and tune it as much as possible and go on from there.

Merry Christmas and I hope to have GT4 before too long.

P.S. Who else is really happy about the addition of a few trucks into GT4? I know many people are going to say that GT is for cars, but I am very pleased that I finally got a couple of trucks to mess around with.

I'll be on a little crusade to gold all the licenses as soon as possible; I don't ever want to have to go back to them again. I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with the Toyota tradition of a first car in GT4, although with used cars back my options will be pretty diverse. I do know my second car will be the newest Impreza STi I can find, however, and the first order of business is taking it around the 'Ring for a good hour or two.

I'm trying to decide on if I want to challenge myself and use a slower car throughout the game to have a good fight with the AI, or if I should breeze through to find the prize cars as quick as possible, and save the challenges until after I know where to get what, etc. There's benefits both ways...

The first thing ill do when I get it, is have a bit of a browse around everything, maybe try out a few time trials and arcade races, just to take it in.
Then when ive got that initial just playing it for playing it sake, ill settle in for a good few hours, and knuckle in to the first 3 licenses tests, only when these are all golded will i come on out to visit the game proper.
At this point I will make 3 saves on 3 cards.
Then play the game in 3 different ways.
1, using the Best Bonus cars and buy the best cars I can as i progress.
2, ignore the bonus car, and buy the worst cars that i can to progress through the game, (this is going to be the high scorer :sly: )
3, Just progress through the game with what ever takes my fancy.

Now that should take me some time to get through, at least 3 years which will be just in time to start preparing for GT5, and expect to see me in the OLR section aswell during that time, unless Xlink turns out to be very handy :)

Step#1: Check out the new and used car lots....see what is on offer.

Step#2: Drool...

Step#3: Play a little on Arcade-Mode, to get a handle on what GT4 feels like.

Step#4: Drool some more...

Step#5: Complete the first license tests, not necessarily to All-Golds.

Step#6: Drool......slight electric shock from drool puddle meeting electric PS2.......wipe up drool.

Step#7: Buy used 1972 Dodge Charger.....start playing Sim-Mode.

On another note: is anyone going to go for their High Score right off the bat? I'm just gonna race whatever I feel like and probly go for high score later.

First, I'm going to see what my GT3 and GT4P gamesaves will give me. Then, I will explore what the game has to offer. After that, I'll play the game.

What do you mean by high score?

What do you mean by high score?

From Granturismoworld.com:

"High scores

Finally (yes, really), there's the newly-implemented high score system. Typically, races in GT have imposed all sorts of race regulations - tyre types, maximum horsepower, etc. - which has restricted the variety of cars allowed to compete in certain events. GT4 omits many of these regulations in favour of a high score system which lets you earn points from successful races based on the vehicle and modifications you use.

Win a race at a disadvantage - driving a 200hp car in a 400hp race, for example - and you'll earn more points than, say, winning the race in a 600hp motor. In effect, this gives you the chance to play through the game as you wish, whether you prefer to progress quickly at the expense of points, or to take the risk and drive at a disadvantage to send your scores soaring."

Oh yeah. I forgot about the new high score system.
I really don't like the high score system, though. Whether It's ai or a human that i'm racing against, I want a fair fight. I don't want one having 200hp and the other having 400hp, but then drivetrain comes to mind. If I race a 385hp RWD car in my 280hp AWD, the race would be pretty close, depending on the settings and configuration.

I luv the new system. IMO, it makes the fairest fight possible. Are you killing the competition? Then race a slower car; not doin to great? race a quicker one. Of course there's gonna be people that pick the F1 or something rediculous like that and beat the game but hey, it's not me doin' it so I don't care. I'm just curious to see what kinda numbers people start posting once the game is out. I hope it gives out scores per race/series. That'd be pretty cool for comparos.

This is certainly an interesting system; I have yet to hear of it ;). I guess that this is a good thing, since because the AI isn't, autos with less hp (esp. 4wd) can do well against hardcore cars. Depends on the course and the event, of course.

Well, I'll start out with a little foreplay.

You know. Nothing too serious.. then WHAM!

Just giver'.

Oh OH.. you mean GT4.

The only two trucks that interest me at all didn't make the game, AFAIK so far... The GMC Syclone and Typhoon...

With the high scoring system, it's an advantage to some and a disadvantage to many others. For the GT veterans like myself, we just want to play through the game as best as possible. For the casual gamer, you can probably go for the blowout. That would mean a Camaro with Stage 2 NA Tuning versus five Daihatsus. Then in rally, you know what car is going to get the nod for taking down rally machines. If you don't, here's a hint- the machine with the largest rear spoiler.

But since I'm more of a "strategic" racer, I'll just do things in GT the old fashioned way, thank you very much. (walks off, humming)

all that makes sense, but how is that an advantage to some and a disadvantage to many others? Advantage: Best possible races; Disadvantage: Blowout racing?. If the person is too stupid to pick a competitive car then sure they have a disadvantage.... a disadvantage of being an idiot. If your too stupid to enjoy the game you just laid down cash for then that's the gamers fault, not the game.

*this is not directed at you JohnBM01, it's just easier to type from this perspective. :)

Yeah, me too. The high score system is a good way to show off your skills. If I do want a fair race, however, I would have to drive as slowly as the ai is, which is more fun because you're constantly battling for position.
I remember playing GT2 one day, and the race was in the "Gran Turismo All Stars" bracket. I was on Red Rock Valley Speedway with the "all stars" of GT: 1999 Toyota GT-One Race Car, Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car, etc, and the car I was driving was.... (drumroll, please) The Amemiya Racing RX-7 race car! To refresh your memory, it had a 446hp. Turbocharged Rotar2 Rotory engine, weighed 2160lbs, 326lb. ft. of Tourque, and was FR. Equipped with Soft Compound Racing tires, With that configuration I attempted to win the race. It was easy to get around the other slower cars, but the GT-One was a fighter. the only part of the track that it managed to pass me on was obviously the straigtaway, but I was too quick for it in the chicanes, and so I finished the race, around 2 seconds ahead of it, in first place! I was surprised that I could keep up with the GT-One, but then again the ai isn't that fast, now is it?

First i'll get the game. Then i'll wait till it's all alone in it's little case waiting to be played. Thats when i'll take out the baseball bat and show it who the real boss is,after giving it a couple of whacks and showing it who's the boss around here, I pick it up and pop it into the microwave and set it to high.
Muahahaha that'll show GT4 not to make me wait for it that long again. :sly:

After that whole ordeal i'll return the game for a brand new copy.Start off by doing all the liscence tests. After that buy the Old school MR2 or if it's affordable the sileighty  . Then i'll go and win all the drivetrain specific races. Then by that time i'll have enough money to and good cars to start and endurance race which will make me a made man for the rest of the game. 👍

Blue font rocks :dopey:

Mukai
my past strategies:

GT2: reputation of the brands
GT3: japanese GT Cars

after those relativ stupid strategies, i'll try it in GT4 with the power-weight-ratio (e.g. Garaiya).

The problem with buying a car with only having in mind the power to weight ratio factor is you end up with cars that are not interesting to drive.

My strategy will consist of buying cars that I really want to drive (FR or AWD) and to get all gold in the licence tests.

Touge 'Master' eh..

*starts official challenge list*

1. Touge Master

Also, me and F.Zamataki (where ever he may rest) started the whole pink text thing over a year ago.

Actually I did, then Zama followed shortly after, but you will notice one key difference.
Mine is always bold a la Famine.

But yeah, GT4 is out in a couple months, and you're first on the list.

How will "I" attack the game?

One person at a time.

Sorry if your somewhat offended by the color I type my text but notice you started the 'PINK' (really Magenta) text thing not blue. If your going to complain about it then i'll change the bold to something else *changed to something else* Happy 👍 , also i'm some what confused by your challenge if you mean a race then I accept :).For now lets agree to disagree

No no.

Blue is fine. It actually looks good.

I just noticed the fact that you hate rally, yet consider yourself a Touge Master.

I just hope you can back that up.
